Years ago I heard Anthony Newman play this work at the riverside church in NY and I'm hear to tell you Xaver's performance beat it hands down--not even close. WHY? Everything Mr. Newman ever played was at the speed of light so it was a blur. Xaver's performance actually allows you to hear the notes! Thank God! Outstanding performance. (And I'm not even a fan of Wagner---guy was a vicious anti-Semite.)
