@@GamingOffTheGrid I got gifted an 360 arcade, 2 slims and a ps3 slim a week ago, all of them have barely been used (bought by a well to do couple who didn’t use them much), sweet :)
People don’t realize that the 360 is probably one of the best and cheapest consoles to get into. Goodwill and facebook I always see 360 games. I love backwards compatibility and didn’t even realize that the 360 plays half of the og Xbox’s library! Thanks for the tips guys!
I gave up on it's backwards compatibility. And got the original console. Depends on what games you like, but it's too glitchy and the performance suffers. The xb1 compatibility is way better
I like my Ps3 but man it’s so cheap to collect for the 360. I find more people selling and parting with there 360’s over there ps3’s. Great video again guys 🤘🍻🤘
I really loved the 360 in the first 2-3 years of it coming out but after my second console broke i got an ps3. I remember at one point you could only send in your console once then you just had to buy another. Great video as always Wes and Robert, the beginning of the video was extra enjoyable. 👍🎮
I have an original Xbox and a Xbox one right now, I have been contemplating getting a 360 mainly for PGR 3&4. The PGR games are my favorite racing games of all time. Been having a ton of fun going back through the first two recently.
The Xbox 360 had more exclusives then the PS3... It also had more games with a Metacritic score of 90 and above over PS3. It was the best console for 3rd party titles of the 7th gen. RROD cost Microsoft over $1 billion! I was overseas during its lifespan, had to buy about 7? It's my favorite console of all time and I've been faming since 1980!
I never owned an Xbox 360 and this past month I purchased one from FB and also got 40 games with it. Now I'm addicted to finding more games for it. Best thing ever. I get most games for less than $3 each.
Y'all kind of missed one point of getting a 360. For the kids. I'm 35 and have a 7,5, and 3 year old and they love playing on the console. Having older consoles is definitely great for kids and families. And definitely affordable. I got a console with one controller with about 15 games for 40 bucks
I have that keyboard for the controller. Actually, I think I have two. One white for my white controller, and one black for the black controller. There are a ton of great games available for the 360 and a lot of the servers are still up so online play is alive and well
@@GamingOffTheGrid yea exactly!! And the gamplay and innovation was on point before 2k got greedy with microtransactions and vc. Ugh and who didn't like that true Jordan edition even into legends edition in 2k12 and then one of the best imo 2k13 in forms of gameplay.
I still have a stock early slim and my kids have the same model. I did have older non hdmi 360 MS refurbished I picked up from game crazy on the cheap but it only lasted a couple years before it red ringed and for shits and giggles I opened it up and saw the bolt fix was done. Just over a year ago I bought a 4tb RGH trinity model loaded up with all my favorite games from a youtuber named Masnart. So worth it. It has also let me backup and play stuff like the recently leaked Bean Goldeneye 64, Scott Pilgrim, and Outrun 2.
Oblivion was pretty great on 360. My favorite Xbox 360 game by far is Ultra Street Fighter 4. I know it's multiplat and I actually play it on PC now but the 360 controller is still my preferred input device for that one. Edit: oh yeah great video guys!
Great video my doods, I just got one a few weeks ago and love it. Hydro thunder is incredible, I also love the Sega games on the arcade, got to play radiant silvergun & guardian heros both are real cheap. Both Saturn classics that are way to expensive to buy.
The 360 was my main console...used the PS3 for exclusives....now its flipped....the PS4 is my main console and I play the 4 or 5 exclusives Xbox releases
That entire generation I had a 360. I got a PS3 a couple of years back. But one thing that sticked to me was that HD-DVD thing. I was attending to collage, studying economics at the time. And business wise, it always sounded wrong to me, why would MS get in to that business? What’s the point? Then I started looking at the behavior of MS, and what they wanted was to get Sony “annoyed”, using their initial advantage. From 2006 to 2010 it was the console to buy, games used to run better on it, the multiplayer games like Halo and Gears were on the their highest point. I think that MS kind of lost their point, instead of competing against Sony for the market, they actually wanted to try break them. That’s why that nonsense of HD DVD. Overtime, you can see the change in posture, like by 2010 they were in a position that was more defensive, like sequels after sequels.. and to this day they keep that 2010 reactionary behavior, Xbox One a effect of that. That’s my little observations about that time when Ms almost got it right, it was their shot to be the new PlayStation 2... but in 2010, the Kinect made its way out the of the deepest abyss in hell.
Brilliant video.. had a halo special ed back in the day and now you both have made me purchase one again off the bay!! Cheers guys for spending my money again! Lol 😂
The XBOX 360 is definitely worth buying today, there is a massive library of very affordable games available for the system. Just stay away from the original one that was prone to the infamous RRD. I did have a very smart friend, who knew how to fix the problem by using a couple of pennies as heat sinks, if you know what you are doing, you can get a very good deal for these systems.
We did a look at the entire generation a LONG time ago. If you do some digging in our vids you'll find it. Quality might be rough but it's there :). Cheers!
The Xbox 360 was the first console that blew my mind when I first seen it. My homeboy had one and I shit you not this fooh went thru 11 of them shits. It was cool though because he would just take it back to best buy and they would switch him out a new one. Xbox was good for that. But that shit was fun. We used to get bent and blazed hella trees at his crib and bust that CoD we was confirming the kill before KC 😂 I missed out on that whole RRoD era. I kopt the PS3 when it first dropped. Man that thing end up being the must expensive Blu-ray player I ever owned. I got the Xbox 360 Slim a few years later and that was my Main. Xbox all the way to this Day.
If the same thing happened today, the red ring of death situation on the Xbox 360, I can't even imagine the outrage that would pour out on every media and social media. I'm honestly surprised they kindof got away with it at the time lol the reaction wasn't that hostile towards Microsoft for selling such a faulty console
Shit would hit the fan so damn hard! You are so spot on with this. The backlash would be remarkable and really be tough for Microsoft to navigate. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
You get a little less connectivity with E ,no toslink and less USB. I think ppl were just upset Microsoft didn't pass on the saving at the time. That's what I think about that for what it's worth. I own at least one of every version and they are all just brilliant machines.
Man I wish I could remember. I’ve had it a long time. I’m pretty sure I was just searching stuff on google when I was building the game room and you know how that rabbit hole can go :). Cheers!
Because I like playing halo online the Xbox 360 is totally not for me and is why I prefer playing on a modern day console especially since the 360 halo titles are permanently shut down and I like the master chief collection for playing halo for the nostalgia as it’s kinda what it’s meant for But I love watching those videos were I can here others opinions on if those retro consoles are still worth buying and is something I just happen to like doing for fun
Fully understandable since you prefer online multiplayer! We play very little online games! We lean toward couch co op games! New Halos are fun but something about the charm of the first few! Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid yeah since you guys mentioned lane parties in this video I hear that the halos on the original Xbox & 360 are more user friendly compared to the mcc and that it has bug issues which I wish they can improve on & hopefully one day but I remember lane parties for halo used to be great on those consoles and that it is something that’s still possible but I still wouldn’t buy one of those Xbox’s just for that as it will probably hardly get used and will just collect dust but I definitely wish that mcc & halo infinite could have it as good when it comes to lane support
Yeah we still do lan parties of Halo 3 on the 360! Some of the best times! We have 12-14 people for those! Yeah never tried doing lan party for modern Halos!
As much as an Xbox fan as I am, which you guys know by now I imagine lol, I would say pass on the 360. As the majority of 369 games are backwards compatible on the Xbox One and Series X. Including every title you guys mentioned. Also Crackdown is a fun series, and The first two were free in Xbox One. They might still be. I'm not sure. But you guys should check if you are interested in that series. My recommendation would be to get a ps3 as it's cheaper to collect for and any game not backwards compatible on the Xbox one or series X just pick up on the ps3 instead. Pretty much every exclusive game is available though. I mean mainly just 3rd party titles that aren't. Spider-man: Web of Shadows for example. Or something like that. But in general I do prefer Xbox over PlayStation. Soo there is that. Also you guys should have mail incoming from me tomorrow. Rob already knows about it. Cheers fellas.
Ya for just 360 games it might not be worth it if you have other options. We play quite a bit of OG XBOX on ours though which is nice. PS3 does offer more value at this point though. Badass man! I'll make sure to stop at the mail box tomorrow. Thanks a ton!
Lol not every game is backwards compatible… that may not be an issue for you but it is for some… like me. I love the Rockband and Guitar hero series and I don’t think they’re backwards compatible. There’s allot of other games that aren’t either. Microsoft said they aren’t doing any more backwards compatible game for 360 or OG Xbox.
The first 360 I owned I bought 2nd hand in 2012, it was the Gears of War 3 special edition with 2 matching wireless controllers. The sounds it made I didnt know they all didnt do that until I saw a "regular" one sometime later that my friend owned lol. I also got a special Editon 360E with a 500gb hd for $50 right after the Xbox one released. Still have both those consoles plus a MW3 one, a black 360s I just bought and another special editon 360E with the 500gb hd just because I got it for a steal. The Backwards compatibility of the Xbox 1 and series X may make them less desirable, but I like them so I keep them around and collect the special edition ones. Never owned the original model, dont care for the looks of it and they seem to be unreliable vs the S and E models. Just my .02 cents.
A friend of mine already had his 360 replaced twice by ms because of the rrod. The 3rd time he recieved a new one, he had a rrod 20 minutes after hooking it up. 😅
Someone is selling on Facebook Marketplace (sold as package) Xbox 360 w/ 2 controllers and 4 games (GTA5, LegoMarvel SuperHeroes, DarkSidersII, Great Battles Medieval) Price: $75Cad = $60Usd Should I buy this? Is it still worth this console? Thank You!
My son's launch console just started dying last year. So for his 14th b-day which was yesterday, we bought him a 360 E blue/teal special edition. Awesome console w/ tons of extra memory.
Sweet vid! Really makes me wanna throw my PS5 to the side, bust out the 360 and get back into Halo Reach again, which I might just do lol I'm feening to Team Slayer now
I love collecting for 360. It's still relatively cheap. I'm particularly into finding shmups for it. I love that I can play a lot of my discs on the newer systems too, but also keep my MW3 console hooked up to play the things that aren't backwards compatible. Also, that beer sounds delicious.
It's true. You can get a lot for it for very little money. The 360 is the dependable friend that I can go back to. Also avoids some of the bugs you get when playing backward compatible 360 games on One/Series X. Win!
@@nerdyhd1808 jasper Kronos V2 is the best, trinity has some problems with the northbridge which has popped up more recently, it’s jasper (both versions), trinity, corona, then falcon
OK here is my plug for the 360: 1. Update files are TINY. Put game in and update is usually 10-20 megabytes! 2. Games are crazy cheap and easy to find....and scratched DVDs are salvageable a lot of the time if you have a local game store with a good resurfacer. 3. The most desirable model is the Jasper.....how can you tell? Looks like an original model but has HDMI, usually a 250 gb drive, 12.1 amp on the back where the power brick plugs in, but needs an external wi-fi adapter. Cool because of tough reliability (Microsoft really fixed this one and many say it is better than the slim) and the interchangeable face plates still work on these. 4. If you are not a graphics snob, these run 720p and for most this is fine. 5. Backwards compatible with many original xbox titles. Many 360 games can be played on the xbox one, but you basically have to have the disc in and it downloads a digital copy. 6. CHEAP.....have found 2 jasper models at local thrift stores for 20$ or less. 7. Xbox store still available, so hydro thunder hurricane can still be purchased, along with a few other xbox live titles and sales do still occur. Even xbox live works, but you have to pay unlike PS3. 8. Can be modded to do a lot of cool stuff. 9. You are correct....most ports look better on the 360. 10. Between the xbox 360, the wii, and the PS3....just my favorite gen of gaming.
@Gaming off the Grid two huge, glaring omissions! The firat is the fact that the 360 is still officially supported by Microsoft. You can atill subscribe to XBox Live and even Game pass. The second is related to LAN parties. You can connect any of the three generations of XBox together on the same network to play a LAN multiplayer match like Halo. No other console can do that! Imagine a LAN party with an OG Xbox playing Halo along with the other team playing on a Series X. The 360 is absolutely worth it in 2021.
That's an awesome feature for LAN party's for sure. We've never had all 4 present at a LAN party but have had 360's and and XBOX One. Pretty damn cool. Cheers!
I know all those accessories are wack but having a 360 arcade stick is a must!!! The 360 is my favorite system for shmups, I'm still looking for a mushahimasama ar arcade stick thats affordable
I am right with you. I only have Lost Odyssey and Marvel Ultimate Alliance Gold edition for the system. The rest are all Shmups. I grabbed Deathsmiles and then all of those region free Dingers thanks to your videos Baltimore! Bullet Soul Infinite Burst (J) Dodonpachi Resurrection Deluxe Ed (PAL) Dodonpachi Saidaioujou (J) Eschatos (J) Espgaluda II Black Label (J) Ginga Force (J) Mushi Mushi Pork & Pink Sweets (J) Mushihami-Sama Futari Ver 1.5 (J) Shooting Love 10th Anniversary (J) Some of these were really pricey. Grab them before they are out of reach!
The 360 is one of my favourite consoles to collect for because of the price point and the great library of games. Also has the best controller ever made in my opinion. Great video 👍
If you got the RROD.. Microsoft would send you a special box to package it up and send the 360 back to Microsoft, and they repaired it for free or sent you a new one. Just had to ask for it!
I bought one beginning of covid it's fantastic , mainly wanted it for LOTR strategy game however their are So many excellent exclusives on this system, cheers guys
You guys are absolutely right! NOW is the time to buy 360 games, especially at pawn shops and Gamestop. Gamestop has been having specials with 360 and ps3 games for months and months. Not long ago they were doing a buy 2 get 3 free type of thing and man...my collection grew by leaps and bounds. I would have to look now but I am pretty sure they are still doing a lot of these sales. GO FORTH MY FRIENDS AND HUNT!!! great video as usual guys ;)
The 360 was the console I played the most during that generation I played and beat so many damn amazing games AND it is also the console that got me (and many others) into Indie games thanks to the Xbox 360 Arcade...freaking epic man
The Xbox 360 is incredible. Collecting for it is awesome too since you could play a ton of the 360 library on the Xbox One and Series X if it's compatible. The system also plays some OG Xbox games very well too. It's definitely worth owning a Model S or Model E for sure... I love it
Yeah I own the Red Gears of War Xbox 360, along with the two badass controllers. Had to go through 4 Red Rings of death to finally get here, but man is this console cool. I love it and it's performed great ever since I got it. Also binge-watching your content right now. Thanks for your great channel, guys.
Even in 2022, I still love playing on my Xbox 360. The Xbox can only emulate Xbox Games if you have an Original HDD since the emulator is on the HDD. You can't download the Emulate manual after so if you don't have an Original Xbox 360 HDD then you can't play Original Games. The Red Ring of the Dead was big but many of them were fake. This is because many people mistakenly thought they had the Red Ring of the Dead with 4 red dots. This was when there were problems with the Video Single like a faulty cable or the output might be broken. The Red Ring of Dead had 3 red dots. This indicates that the Xbox was so overheated that it unsoldered itself to the point that it no longer works. I Loved the Original Controller many say it is too heavy but i love holding it i hate the PS 3-4 controller, it's like holding air i remember the first time i had a PS4 controller in my hand i was like am i even holding anything and it was difficult for me to get used to that I like the weight just like I like walking around in safety shoes because of the weight of it. I really enjoyed the keyboard for the controller. I enjoyed GOW 1-2 a lot and never particularly enjoyed the other games. I feel like they changed what the game actually is. I only played GOW3 once, and don't really recall much of it because I didn't particularly appreciate it. I own all the Halo games and they are one of my favorite games for the Xbox 360 with thousands of hours in those games. I have never played Halo 5 since it is available only for Xbox One, but besides that, I have played all Halo games. Halo is still my favorite game on the Xbox 360. I don't like the PC version. This is because the PC version is based on the anniversary version, and I don't enjoy it. It just doesn't feel the same to me and sometimes it's like they changed some mechanic so it doesn't feel the same. Anyway, I don't like that version and I don't like the MCC version, but I still play the Xbox 360 version today and still truly love it. I never liked Alan Wake. I don't think I ever completed it. I have played it a couple of times but it's not really my kind of game. I'm not really into car games that much.
I grew up playing halo reach firefight with friends, so much fun to be had on this beast of a console! People should jump in while its still relatively easy to find and cheap.
I've really enjoyed this series guys. I camped outside a store to get my first 360, at the end I had been through 6 red rings. Through warranties and MS offering free repairs, I think grand total I ended up buying 3. The original, then an S, and I have an E now.
Dont forget you can rip cds to the harddrive and play music during gameplay. Thats very helpful when you play big openworld games and get sick of the generic music. Plus the tony hawk games get repetitive with the limited tracks they include.
Does the xbox market place still works and is supported on the xbox 360? Can you still download, and purchase games? The ps3, psp, ps vita, ps tv, psn store for digital games, is getting shut down.
Found a slim and an e at a local thrift store for $24/piece. Also still have my original white 360. They’re everywhere. I’ve flipped the slim, got the e for sale. Can’t part ways with my original white block. Somehow I never had the red ring.
My brother and I would play ultimate ninja storm 2 on360 and it would randomly red ring (I think it was only 2 LEDs tho). I was so annoyed, that Christmas I got a PS3. My brother got the 360 elite (the first one that was the shape of the OG), because my mom would not allow us to have 2 of the same consoles in the house (she believed in sharing). His elite nvr had any issues and I actually got kind of jealous (was an Xbox fanboy until I got the PS3). But now I’m an adult and own both and couldn’t be happier. Last thing, it felt like almost every house we went to, there was a 360 in there. At least for the US.
I had to phone microsoft, for the red ring of death. They shipped a box to put it in prepaid postage. sent it out and they sent back a repaired or refurbished one for free. Havent had a problem for over 10 years since then. Except the disk drive sticks sometimes.
I have one 360 that does red ring but just unplug it and it’s fine. Recently I found the old 360 with old 2005 dashboard and it works fine. Perfect Dark Zero is my favourite exclusive 360 game and still have it
If you guys haven't played it seek out a cheap copy of driver San Francisco for PS3 or 360. It's singleplayer only but trust me the game is so damn good and unique as far as driving/racing games go
I have one I just have to buy the cords for it again since I lost them which is actually what I am on the way of doing right now because I am walking to GameStop right now and hoping that they have it so I can play dark souls 2 because for some reason it’s not backwards compatible even though it’s quite popular.
Bro whenever I see Xbox 360 numbers, i always think “Yeah but I bought 4 of them” 😂 Discount all the multiple console customers. Literally 4 consoles rrd on me.
I was very late to the game on the 360, but I have grown to love it. I love the amount of games and how most of them are cheap right now. Great video guys! Side note: The Punisher game is great!
Xbox 360 is a helluva great console, just bought mine late last year Don't love the controller though, much prefer the Xbox One pad My favorite games are Forza Motorsport 4, 007 Blood Stone, After Burner Climax, and (don't laugh) Kinect Sports and Fruit Ninja
I bought the 360 w/Kinect as a gift for my wife. The main reason why she wanted me to buy her the 360 was because of dance central and the other dancing games.
I always loved a lot of the 360’s exclusives man. Besides gears and halo of course The fable trilogy, crackdown 1 and 2, left 4 dead 1 and 2, were so awesome! Was also a big rts fan and it had command and conquer/lord of the rings bfme ports on it which were sick.
Late to the conversation, but here goes: Bought my very first Xbox console ever, an Xbox 360 S in April of this year. I have four controllers (in four different colours, naturally), and 53 games currently sits on the shelve. Loving the console so far.
Still enjoying the 360! Bought it off a buddy with Scott Pilgrim installed. Currently going through Diablo 3 .... also went out and got myself the HDDVD for some movie action.
