Nice to see Wet and Binary Domain get some love! Condemned 2 is the only game to ever give me actual nightmares, so yeah...that's freaky but recommended!
I agree with Syndicate. It's way more fun than one might expect from a reboot game that doesn't even follow the same genre as the previous titles of the series does. Also, my only 360 from the year 2008 is still working. It may have gotten a bit louder during the years, but that's hard to tell since the console has always been very noisy. But it's working nonetheless, I'm happy with it.
Amen to that...I got Alan Wake and the American Nightmare DLC for 5€ last year in a Steam sale...best 5€ ever spent, i put close to 25 hours in both games and was just blown away by the story, the athmosphere and gameplay was fun, too...highly recommended!
I don't really see that as a "hidden" gem. Great game, but it got a lot of respect when it came out. Good reviews all over the place, and I remember a lot of people I know getting it.
I manage a group on Facebook called Game Clubs where we play a game together each month. Your hidden gem videos give me a lot of ideas of what to vote for next!
I also loved Timeshift & Inversion. I could easily see them being overlooked. Neither were perfect, but with great controls and interesting mechanics, they were both a very gory and fun way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon . . .
Great video! I think now is the best time to catch up on overlooked last gen games. I bought Wet after watching this and i'm loving it so far. The controls are atrocious but I wouldn't call it broken. The style and presentation is the best aspect about the game. Reminds me of the No More Heroes series.
I had a failed unit..took it apart, remounted the heatsink bracket with #10 vinyl washers..reflowed the solder in an oven and it's been working ever since, about 9 years
Thx so much for setting me straight on Spec Ops The Line. I totally ignored it on the title alone, thinking it was just yet another ghost recon or modern warfare...the gameplay is fine, middling fps stuff I suppose, but the morally ambiguous story and character development, wow I was totally blown away by it. Not to mention the awesome soundtrack, featuring Hendrix, Mogwai...just amazing, wish more shooters actually gave you stuff to think about.
My PS4 was collecting dust cuz I work all the time. so I recently gave it to my little cousin with about 20 games for his birthday. He asked me if I wanted his 360, so I thought "hey just trade it in". Not worth the trade in! all these gems... Bro you slay!! Thanks!!
Had multiple failures on 360's, but figured it out how to keep them running new. I got mine from some jerkoff on c-list for $50 and it sounded like that airplane effect. Well, after finding out that the original GPU Cooler (one with the extra heatsink in front of the CPU) and changing the CPU one to the original also works. Those described are the ones that both have heatpipes on them. After installed use aluminum foil around the fins to make the air suck in over the GPU / CPU paths and tape it with electrical tape and your golden. It has worked for over 3 years and no game play problems and no speed up on the fans. $50 and $3 each for the heatsinks on ebay and the system is like new. Keep on rocking MetalJesus ... great vids!!!!
Marko Stamenkovic What for? lol The main points of the game were set-pieces which would have nowhere near the same amount of impact second-time round, never mind sixth lol
@4:40 the box like apparatus that fits into a gun is called a magazine. A 'stripper clip', used in some firearms, is used to load the magazine. Very important difference.
I've owned 3. Bought one way back about a year after launch, it lasted about 3 years or so before red-ringing, then I bought an X360 Arcade unit and put my HDD onto that, but then when the 360 Slim was announced I pre-ordered that and traded in the 360 Arcade and HDD towards that. And my glossy Slim has been kicking just fine ever since.
So awesome that you mentioned Binary Domain! I told you to on facebook and I don't know if that's why but it sure made me happy! Great game. Also you really made me super excited about Wet! It actually looks like alot of fun. I'll definitely pick it up if I come across it in the wild. Take care! //Senkai
I've had multiple Xbox 360 consoles fail. Three of the original design and two of the redesign. After the 5th system, I just gave up on the 360 and got a PlayStation 3 to replace it.
Nicholas Lasky How I see it the only reason the ps3 failed last gen is because developers found it hard to make games on the console (in other words they were lazy). They then decided to make it on 360 first and then port it to ps3. Look at a game like The Last Of Us. Do you think the 360 would've handled that game? I doubt it. I'm not fanboying here. I'm being realistic. I own a 360 as well and I enjoyed playing Gears Of War and Fable as well as a few other exclusives. I found I got more for my money with the PS3 and a Ps Plus membership though.
Rob Ireland It is a superior console it's just developers were too lazy to port games to the system properly. Xbox 360 was more convenient. Call Of Duty is the only reason the 360 sold more in North America as well. PS3 still outsold 360 on a world wide scale. Xbox fanboys will never admit it though.
Lurch Murphy I knew 360 was an inferior console to the ps3, because games like you said, Last of Us is too strong maybe for the 360. Perfect Example: The Xbox 360's Final Fantasy 13 needs exactly 4 discs to play the game while the PS3's FF13 uses only 1 disc(the old days on the FF7,FF8, and FF9 games on PS1). And the Metal Gear Solid Legacy collection is only available on PS3 because MGS4 was on it and for power reasons, X360 doesn't have it. I do say they are both great consoles, the only I don't like about X360 is that it's weak and MS is bullshitting since they're filthy rich to make it a powerhouse.
Binary Domain and The Darkness were the surprises of my 360 gaming. BD actually had a plot that kept me playing and solid mechanics all around. Good choice man :)
Yeah. I recently started collecting for the Xbox 360, and I'm really sad that console didn't see a lot of good RPGs, espcially Jrpgs. I love lost oddysy, but there isn't much else.
1. HELL YES, "WET"! LOVED that game. 2. I've had an Elite model for about 5 years now, and it's never given me any problems. 3. Another hidden gem you might like is "Conan"... very "God of War"-esque, dirt cheap, tons of fun, and is really true to the source material and character. Great videos, man! :-)
Oh, gods, Spec Ops: The Line is pretty much my little piece of gold, one of my favorites from the past gen. I always love the fact that people say that "it begins as a generic military shooter" because the game actually needs this basis to build something much bigger as the player progresses. I think "surprising" is just the right word to describe this game.
2017 and after being a PC only gamer for the entire 360 and PS3 era I have just bought a 360 and about 12 games. Going to go back through a load of content I missed out on during a great era. Have lined up Gears of War, Red Dead Redemption, Forza, Halo, Burnout, Alan Wake (yes it's better on PC but I got copy for 50 pence). Really looking forward to playing so many games I missed out on.
Great video. My launch day 360 died after about a year, I sent it in and they sent me back a different one. That one lasted about 3 years and it also got the red ring. I bought a slim and since then have never had an issue.
I got WET at release and I’ve no regrets, loved that game! Need to revisit it sometime for another playthrough. The first two Alice games are awesome as well, really hoping we get a 3rd game!
My original xbox got a disc drive error after the warranty expired. I was super bitter about it because Microsoft wouldn't repair it, so I bought a ps3. I bought a 360 again last year during Black Friday. Great video, as always!
MJR - funny you asked that at the end, i came close to commenting about it on the part one of this. 360 was the system that xbox lost me. I've gone through 2 of them, and while im missing out on some games- i never wanted to invest in another 360 , since it might not work in 3-4 years. still have my original xbox though, works great. Fun to watch as always-
My orginal launch 360 never had any issues, but I ended up selling it in 2008. Sometimes I wonder if it ever Red Ringed on its later owner(s). I picked up a Slim in 2010--great bang for the buck there, it is sleek and fairly quiet.
I've had mine since launch. I still have one of the originals. and yes I got the red ring a few times, but it wasn't a full circle, it was only three of the four lights so thankfully all I had to do was open it up and clean it out really good and it works like a champ to this day
Great video! I have had my original Xbox 360 for close to 5 years now and it still works like a champ (knock on wood). It's the Arcade model which has a white plastic disc tray and didn't come with a hard drive. In speaking of hard drives, one of my favorite features of the 360 is the ability to install games from the disc onto the hard drive. I've noticed that games play more smoothly when they are installed and because the games runs off of the memory of the hard drive and not the disc drive, the system is much quieter.
My first Xbox 360, which was the original white Xbox 360 design died one me quite quickly (didn't reach his 2nd birthday). Now I'm using a black Elite and it's still working perfectly. I do have the Star Wars Xbox 360 as a sort of back up when my Elite eventually kicks the bucket. BTW, I'm loving these hidden gem video's, definitely my favorite type of video on your channel.
Dust: An Elysian Tail is a total hidden gem on the Xbox Live Marketplace. It's a hack and slash beat 'em up game with RPG elements. It's amazing. In fact if you have an Xbox Live Gold account it's free until May 15th.
Seriously, I have like 90% of the games on your 3 xbox 360 hidden gem lists. Alice is one of the most visually stunning games I've played. I'm not saying it's beautiful in the sense of AMAZING graphics, more like the art design and the colors...awesome game. Underrated.
RedRingOfDeath. Luckily, I bought the extended warranty. I had to fix it 2 years later about 2010. Got it fixed and now I've been good ever since. I gotta remember to clean it out every few months depending on the amount of dust in your house.
MJR, I love your "Hidden Gems" videos, keep em coming......As far as the original build of Xbox 360, I'm on my 8th Xbox 360, and no, I'm not exaggerating.....I currently have the first "mini" re-design, and it works flawlessly. So after a lot of pain, I'm finally completely happy with my Xbox 360. :)
You need to check out the Bourne conspiracy! I swear no one talks about how satisfying the action and hand to hand combat is in that game and I’m not even a huge action game fan
I had a launch day system that took almost 1.5 years to fail, but when it did, MS did the right thing and covered repair quickly. But shortly afterwards I replaced them with HDMI versions.
I like how every single one of these games is also on the PS3 xD. Spec Ops: The Line is definitely in my Top 5 games of the last generation. Totally blew me away. WET was amazing as well. The music in that game is just badass :D
Really awesome video Metal Jesus! Thanks a lot for being so entertaining and informative? When are going to get another I Hate U? I may organize one myself for my little brother, with 7 rounds of Kung Fu on the NES and a time trial in Festers Quest
I bought my first xbox 360 in 2007 here in Argentina, unfortunately did not have your warranty in this country so I had to save it and take it for life, then when you came the first arcade that no longer had the RROD her again to buy and still I have , is one of my favorite consoles and if I would have to buy another I would. Greetings!
I still need to add "Alice: Return to Madness" to my collection. "Wet" was awesome. As for systems I'm on my 7th. Launch system disk drive issues. Currently on a loud reliable Elite that my daughter's use. I love your channel man keep up the work!!
My first XBox 360 was a refurb from GameStop, it lasted 20 minutes. My second was a brand-new Fat, which lasted me about 3 months after the extended warranty ended. My third was another refurb which never worked. My current is a slim, which I'm quite glad I bought.
Bionic Domain is a great sci-fi shooter with an interesting mechanic that requires you to build trust with your teammates. Also, the story has a crazy twist to it. The plot overall keeps you on your toes. It is a mix of Asimov philosophy and '80s sci-fi anime. "Let the good times roll."
As far as I'm concerned Spec Ops The Line is a benchmark for EFFECTIVE story telling in games. Shit nearly made me cry sometimes, and that's never happened in a game to me. On top of that it plays excellently too.
I got my original 360 back in April of 2006, which was the first one I had actually seen since launch. I ended up getting it and it lasted a bit over 2 years before the RRoD hit me. MS shipped me back a coffin and between the time I shipped it back and the refurb came to me, maybe 2 weeks. Even though I never had problems with the refurb, I upgraded in 2010 and have not had a problem since. But to be honest, I think MS rushed it out the door. They had a 1 year lead-in time, so they should have done some more testing that surely would have found the overheating issues. But I have never regretted buying a 360. I still play it more than the PS3 I bought back in 2011.
My first Xbox360 was one I bought about six months after the official console launch (coincidentially when TES IV Oblivion came out). It was the PRO version. I didn't have any problems with it untill I took it on vacation with me. Everything went fine untill I came back home, plugged it in and the RROD unveiled itself. Now, I was sure I was going to have to buy a new one (as a matter of fact I did) simply because I've had the unit for almost 3 years and I was convinced the warranty had expired. But then I found out that because there had been so many problems with Red Ring Of Death, Microsoft had extended the standard warranty another twelve months in addition to the standard 24 months. So when I called service I was pleasently surprised to hear that I was still covered by warranty by a mere 20 days. So I managed to ship it, get it fixed, and receive it back in perfect condition in 5 days and without spending a dime. I ended up with two Xbox360s, so I gave one to my brother for his birthday, along with a brand new copy of Gears Of War 2. He's not a video gamer, but I think he was pretty happy with it.
Great video. It's funny how my nes, snes, n64, gamecube, wii, genesis, saturn, dreamcast, playstation 1 & 2 and not to mention all my handhelds all work fine till this day but I had to replace my 360 twice and my PS3 (60gb) once. It's like systems were made to last before and now they are made to fail so you have to buy the same system over and over.
With the exception of Syndicate, I keep seeing these games every time I go to my local EB Games, and I always pass on them. I might have to give them a shot, then next time I go buy a game
Binary Domain was fucking AMAZING. INCREDIBLY underrated. Without a doubt it's one of Sega's best games in a LONG time. It's incredibly polished, graphics are fantastic, control is spot on, has good challenge (the A.I. is pretty damn good), and the gameplay is very fun. It's like the best Terminator game that isn't based on the Terminator franchise. If anyone hasn't played it yet rectify that mistake and PICK IT UP. It's DIRT CHEAP and well worth it.
A friend of mine from Silicon Knights gave me a heads up about the 360 before I bought it. Worked out since I ended up with the next generation that had everything fixed in it.
I bought a refurbished Xbox 360 about a year after release. It made sense to me to buy one that had already fallen victim to the dreaded red rings and then been fixed and resold by Microsoft. It cost me two-thirds retail and continues to take a regular thrashing without so much as a whimper. That's my Xbeast.
I had a newly refurbished replacement that I bought off my buddy for $120 that red-ringed about two years after I got it. It was out of warranty and I had to buy a totally new 4GB 360 slim. The reason why I no longer game on 360 is because I don't have any more HDD space and buying a new larger HDD is almost the same price as buying an entirely new console. Furthermore, during the time my 360 was down, I picked up a PS3 and started gaming on that. I've never looked back since.
Syndicate came out on Do's, but I think originally on the Amiga. The failure was an overheating GPU. The first one all failed, the next Vulcan chipset failed due to a reduced cpu, but same overheating GPU. The Jasper chipset that assembled around Nov, 2008 had a reduced GPU size, thus less heat and no more RROD...cheers.
Somebody else finally mentioned Binary Domain. I love that game and I felt like the only One. I love the voice commands. If you take some time with it and use your headset in a quite room. Your team is all ears to many cool comment's and interactions. Voice commands are so cool when there done right :)
