I like the Elite a lot but I think it's incredibly dumb to sell a version of the Elite that doesn't come with paddles. Just increase the Core price by $10 bucks and include some dang paddles, jeez. Money-grubbing MS makes its products look bad.

I mean it's nice because I don't have to repay the whole price if I already have all the components. If you need the comppnents just buy them separately
I haven’t used the non-core Elite, but the Elite Core I can confirm is plastic trigger and bumper buttons with a metal D-Pad and metal joysticks covered in rubber
Thr elite series 2 controller came out in 2019. This is a xbox One styled controller. So the share button was never on this version. Just wanted to share.
