I've got a Logitech MK270 wireless mouse and keyboard and although they work within the menus and you can use the mouse to move the camera around, the mouse does not interact with the instrument panel. The cursor highlights each instrument in blue when hovering over it but will not allow me to use it by either left clicking or mouse wheel scrolling. I have tried 3 different mouse (2 wireless and 1 usb, 2 logitech and a Rii) but all do the same thing. Is there a setting in the options to disable the Xbox controller being the mouse like on PC where you switch it to Legacy mode as that option is not avaliable in the Xbox version of the sim? Also does a joystick attached make any difference to make the mouse interact with the instruments as i always use the Thrustmaster Hotas One.
I just tried the Hotas One with my mouse and controller plugged in and it all works fine. For reference (not that it should make any difference), I have my mouse and controller plugged into the back of my Series S and the Hotas plugged into the front - if you have the G1000 add-on installed, I would recommend uninstalling it.
@@HuddisonCheers for the reply and testing the Hotas, controller and mouse together. Currently i have the Hotas plugged at the rear and controller plugged at the front. I have not got the G1000 add on. I will try plugging in the Hotas and controller to what you specified. If that fails, i will try turning off the controller once i've booted up the sim so only my proper mouse can be used and see if i'm able to click on any of the instrument panel. I will report back on what i find.
Ok changing usb sockets for the Hotas and controller never worked so i started looking into the controller settings for the mouse and found under the Miscellaneous tab some options for Cockpit Interactions were all blank. I must of made a new profile when i first got the game for the Mouse settings so i just set the profile back to Default and all the Cockpit Interactions for each mouse button/wheel were added. So i just duplicated the Default profile and renamed it so all the settings were present in the new profile. I must of just made a new profile without duplicating on day 1 without realising. Hopefully this will help anyone else who has made the same mistake as i did on day 1. All works fine now. Thanks for the video yesterday as it spurred me into finding a solution after seeing you use your mouse :)
Yet again an absolutely BRILLIANT video, I'm learning so much, thank you so. YES please for more xbox videos (I too am using the S) and what a difference a mouse makes. I bought a £20 wireless mouse & keyboard combo from Curry which works a treat. I too had probs adding way points but found the fix from someone else - just back out of the world map the go back in and it works. Already looking forward to your nex vid, just off for a week in the caravan and taking my Xbox to fly 😁😁😁

For the part where you were trying to add a custom waypoint for your arrival, you ended up having to manipulate the menu to add more markers. Another way to do that is use your mouse to click in the search bar just below the airplane selection. You can type a latitude/longitude waypoint, it will pop up under the search bar, click on it and then it makes a new marker on your map. Then you can add it as a waypoint for your flight plan. This is an amazing way to also fly exactly where you want to go in your flight plans. I use it to fly over all my friends and families homes and other locations. So much fun. BTW, your videos are really great. I always like them and I’ve subbed. You deserve the recognition. Keep up the great work.
@@Huddison yes happy to share what I’ve learned. Together we can all enjoy a better experience. I also just tested today with a mouse that you should be able to first pick a departure followed by an arrival point and then click anywhere on the map to add a custom waypoint as an “add” option. Even faster if you don’t want to use the search bar latitude/longitude option.

I have been watching this video a few times, every time I watch will understand a little more what I missed. However, when you said there are people having problem adding waypoint (6:40), I think that is because of the software problem. I am able to add other waypoint but unable to add Eiffel Tower as waypoint. Thank you for the video again.

Great information once again. The only glitches I run into a lot on XBOX S, are missing POI/Flight plan data. The one I am doing now has no flight plan information loaded so I have to add the landing destination and hand fly the POI's. Also, when in third person the heading compass heading line does not match the cockpit course heading and or shows LOC1 when I am operating GPS NAV.
For £20 you can't go wrong with this bluetooth keyboard - Logitech MK220 Wireless Mouse and Keyboard, use it on Xbox Series X along with a Thrust Master Hotas X and it works like a charm!
Yes!!! If you haven't already, please make a video "setting up" an ILS approach with the G1000 on the Xbox version. (inside the cockpit instead of the world view). I'm actually new to this and have been trying to find a tutorial. I've seen the PC video but not an xbox one. Also, on one of your xbox videos, London City to Heathrow) you had us push the controller (I believe RB+X) to hold the altitude to what was programmed in. But not on this one. It seemed to just start climbing after you turned on auto pilot. How does that work? Thanks so much and I just love your videos. :) Wow, I wrote a book.
Nice videos, I've been following along your trips on my own. For the routing, I've found that doing the planning under IFR Low works better than VFR (dropdown choice is under your selected plane on the planning screen). Set IFR then add your scenic points and the path goes precisely where you expect and the plane flies the exact same route. It goes directly to PO404 and does the gentle right turn into final instead of that weird loop. Exact same thing with your last video, straight to the castle instead of south of it then back. New at this I don't fully understand it, but I know there are certain routes the plane has to fly and I think the VFR sort of conflicts with that so it does the part it must do to get to the vicinity then does the part you want, leading to these weird loops and so on. Must say I'm a bit disappointed you're planning on doing exclusively keyboard and mouse, as I think most of your audience out here will just be controller only. Hopefully the stuff you do won't require the keyboard and can just be done by pointing at something in the cockpit with the controller etc. That will certainly be much better than you saying "press control k, then page up, then f12, f11, f10 and space bar" and stuff like that.
Great comments and tips. I typically use IFR when flying airliners and the like - low altitude for shorter trips & high altitude IFR for long, multi hour flights. Good to hear that you were able to manipulate it for general flights. I'm not intending to make videos exclusively (or only) on the keyboard and mouse; but I do have some requested videos in the pipeline.
@@Huddison Agreed, flying with a keyboard is pointless on Xbox One. I'd say either use the controller or HOTAS One if you want to appeal to the most people/widest audience
The Ai seemed to follow the flight path as it was shown on the world map. Where it went North East to PO404 before turning South again towards the arrival airport.
Another helpful video. please do more about kbm. I finally ditched the controller and now am using the hotus, keyboard, and mouse. only problem is that I'm feeling kind of lost but I'm learning. One question, the default mouse settings don't allow me to move around the camera in showcase mode. I looked at settings but don't know that to do. any suggestions? Thanks as always!

I am buying the xbox series x and msf sim. i already have the thrustmaster hotas one for xbox/pc. but was wondering can i use the hotas stick keyboard and mouse combo to control things. or can i use the hotas stick and mouse. I,m Complete beginer so not got a clue yet. just know i waant to make this a really great passtime hobby. my xbox series x is still on the way. really looking forward to this great eye candy simulator program. how did you get the mouse to work?I have Xbox s and can’t get the mouse to work.I tried changing to legacy,but still no mouse.the mouse does show up in the control option and default setting.but does not show up in the plane.
You can either use the mouse or the L3 gamepad cursor; I believe using one or the other cancels the other one out (although the mouse cursor should become visible when you move the mouse) - other than that, perhaps try using a different mouse.
For some reason when I use my USB wired mouse and keyboard on msfs on Xbox, the mouse doesn't appear and does not work, on other games it works perfectly fine. Any ideas? Great video by the way!
Any luck mapping the “nose up” and “nose down” VS buttons for the g1000 to your keyboard for purpose of adjusting FLC Target speed? What I mapped on my keyboard works for the purpose of adjusting the the ascent/descent speeds in VS mode. BUT, the keyboard mapping I use for nose up and down doesn’t work to adjust the target speed in FLC. It makes using FLC to ascend the first time in flight a major danger, haha, as I have to adjust the FLC Target speed by using the mouse to adjust on the dashboard (starting from 0. The plane starts to nosedive when I turn on FLC). Anyways, great content as always!
I typically use FLC to climb out at a target speed via the mouse. From what you've mentioned, there may be a few bugs - are you referring to the Xbox version btw?
XBox Series X. I think there may be a bug where, when you engage FLC to climb, it doesn’t set a target speed. Essentially, when I press FLC, the target speed is “0” and the plane begins to dive. I then have to furiously click on “VS nose up” in order to get the climb speed up to something reasonable. I’m trying to at least map that key to the keyboard to make it a bit easier, but haven’t successfully done it, I guess! Though I swear it was working a few nights ago!
@@matthewbrennan6466 I tend to set the FLC speed (and set an autopilot alt) on the ground before taking off and engaging Autopilot - that seems to work ok. I'll try and cover this in a future video.
For $17.98 I got a wireless Logitech mouse keyboard combo at Walmart which works flawlessly /w Series X and MSFS. The correct pictures of the hardware are shown in options and I haven't noticed any lag Works also great /w COD
Hey Huddison, Can you do a video on how to use drone cam in Xbox version and showcase camera. I have a mouse, keyboard, and hotas plus controller just in case all work together fine which is amazing. I hope they fix the hotas button issues.
Hiya Huddison, may I ask re making changes during flight? When altering barometric pressure for example, using the xbox controller, on most occasions the pressure changes straight to a high setting rather than letting me make minor adjustments. This plays havoc in autopilot and have caused me to crash occasionally, so my current fix is to disengage autopilot whilst making adjustments. Will a mouse and keyboard enable me to manually enter the new barometric pressure directly and avoid this issue?
Yes for certain a mouse & keyboard will be a great help in making such adjustments. I will advise though, to stay away from more advanced procedures, until you have the basics down tight.

For some reason my mouse can’t left click when trying to manipulate instruments, I’m about to switch from controller to flight stick anyways…hope the problem doesn’t continue….It could be because I had only plugged in the mouse and not the keyboard, any ideas?
My keyboard doesn’t work in the sim it only works when I’m typing in the search bar of the map but doesn’t do anything else and it’s a modern gaming keyboard that’s supposed to be compatible with Xbox, any solutions?
The two mice I have tried were awful. I tried changing the sensitivity and it did not matter if it was 100 or 10 percent they were awful, especially in the cockpit. Am I missing a step or are the mice I have tried not sutible. One is an Alienware Razer with a cord the other is a logitech wireless with that little dongel . They do not hold position and slide all over. Is there any help I can get?
Hi Donald, do you have the Series S or X? I have heard of many problems with using mice on the X for whatever reason. For reference, I use a very cheap, old 'HP' wired moue on my series S and I've had no real difficulties with it.
In which way is it crashing (i.e. stops working altogether, freezes etc)? Mine rarely crashes on the Series S - maybe reinstall and see if that fixes things. Also ensure you have, I'd say 30-40 gig spare space on you internal Series S Hard Drive.
@@Huddison yeah, I basically bought the series S just for the Flight Simulator, it crashes when im landing sometimes in busy airports, (it kicks me out of the game) and many times while landing all the instrument pannel turns off... My internet connection is very good, but it seems that is a consle problem.... Im thinking in getting a PC, althout the price is crazy!!

I know the Series S is fine with a mouse and keyboard; folks in the Discord also seem ok with using them on the Series X. Which Mouse & keyboard set are you trying to connect?
Do you have any idea why autopilot stops working when I switch to cursor mode and then back out of cursor mode? The plane just starts going wherever with complete disregard to the flight plan even though autopilot is still engaged. It happens with the mouse and the controller
With the G1000 or similar, you can check to ensure GPS is highlighted (typically in Green), which means you're locked onto the flight plan. It's difficult for me to be specific, not knowing your actual flight specifics.

It happens any time I switch to cursor mode via the left stick on my Xbox game pad or use my mouse. The plane just seems to lose all sense of direction and it’s very frustrating when I’m on the glide slope for final… one click of the left stick and the plane is now completely going the wrong direction even though it was fine right before. APPR mode and G/S is still showing with the Magenta diamonds locked on. Anyway, thanks for responding and if you have any insight into this issue, whether a glitch or a fault of my own; maybe a good video idea if you can re-create the same issue?? Why don’t I get the keyboard and mouse option in settings? Very frustrating. I have both my mouse and keyboard plugged in to the damn system and it’s like it doesn’t recognize them.
Do you know of a way to prevent the mouse from disappearing when using a controller? In the menus, I can see the mouse cursor but can't click on anything. Then if I use the controller to select something, I lose my mouse cursor and am unable to get it back
That's strange! I would unplug the keyboard, start up MSFS - shut it down again and restart with keyboard plugged back in (ensure the keyboard is plugged in before starting up MSFS).
Please would you be so kind as to explain why my mouse only works in all Flight Simulator menus except when I'm in the cockpit, you hover over the controls and tell me what they are but it won't let me interact.
Hmm, I've heard this before but not sure what's causing it - it could be that your left mouse button is slightly defunct; do you have a different mouse to try?
@@Huddison Nothing I have already tried everything and it is desperate the mouse works for me in all the menus even on the map making a flight plan zoom in zoom out in everything except in the cockpit in the cockpit which is where it does not let me interact with the instruments. tested with three or four mice and there is no way it is desperate until eh Desi installed the Garmin G1000 because I had read that it could give problems with the mouse
a question that I have. What version of fs 2020 do you have? the basic, the deluxe? I have it from xbox game pass ultimate. It is possible that depending on the version you have more options and that is why the mouse does not interact with me in the cabin?
Xbox series x A320 When flying a route with A320 in autopilot the plane turns left or right making the plane turn off course. It’s really annoying. ATC giving wrong headings when in a flight plan. ATC asking me to decend when in climb.
I've been trying to do tutorials for the A320 on Xbox, but the bugs keep on cutting my flights short - mainly blank CDU screens bugs. Re the aircraft turning left/right under autopilot: use your flight controller to turn the aircraft back on the correct course, that seems to correct it for now.
@@Huddison plenty of bugs in the game however, the game is very new and it’s expected. Great simulator and it will get better. Yes, please do the A320 tutorial. Easy plane to learn. Much easier than the 737ngx
I'm on the Series X and it doesn't look as good as on your video. I've got photogrammetry on... Maybe it's my 25mbps internet line? Same thing happens on XS, that the flight plan line doesn't sync with the plane location.
Thanks for letting me know re the flight plan. Photogrammetry can sometimes turn itself off - probably best checking it's turned back on under: General options/Data - might also be worth checking that Bing Data World Graphics is on ;)
Can confirm flight plan on Series X has the same issue as what you have described. I'm using the Logitech 400K Plus keyboard with built in track pad which works very well.
@huddison I’m having difficulties with the mouse. The mouse works on the home screen, and then when I get into the airplane, the cursor no longer appears. I’ve tried different mice or mouses and I can not get this figured out. Please help ..
hi mate just found your channel and ivegot to say youra great help im new to msfs even tho iv had it ince relase and used your xbox controller video to get me set up. do you have a discord i would love to join and come fly with you i can see myself learning alot from you. im on pc btw and im slowly learning everything. its more the auto pilot and learning the systems on how to set things up like how to read the rnav ect. flying is no problem. great video ill be sure to go through your videos and seewhat i can watch to help.
Yes.. My keyboard/mouse combo worked fine two days after installed them.. But after(changed some inputs) those are still working, but are uanavailable in options menu.. Chrash the game if i try to switch on keyboard menu(i can reach mouse, but cant change any input because chrash to desktop at "apply and save").. Sollution? Yeah.., this is windows made application, so not working anything.. :( Fuck this microsof shit! (xbox x)
