Two things on this VERY helpful video. FreeSync is causing you to not have Dolby Vision. Once you take it off see if you have it on your BluRay Player...Secondarily, FreeSync will cause sporadic times where the picture will go black while playing XboxSeriesX. Disabling and re-enabling it will allow picture to come back on. Or most people recommend taking FreeSync off while playing Series X at 120hz.

The reason why your tv isnt outputting dolby vision on your blu ray is because you activated freesync premium which disables dolby vision on the hdmi port that you turned it on. You dont need freesync to use vrr since the tv has it through hdmi 2.1 meaning just toggling vrr on the xbox is enough . The only reason to use freesync premium is the feature that allows you to use vrr for older games locked at 30 fps.

You know 120fps is only available in Gears 5 Multiplayer right? Campaign is locked to 60fps. The reason your tv is telling you it is running "120fps" is only cause the Xbox is set to output 120hz. A 30fps locked game would tell you the same thing.

Put your TV in PC mode for the Series X input. You'll get the full 4:4:4 chroma (credit: Vincent Teoh). I haven't tried to use a disc with dolby vision, just games. But if you're saying it doesn't work anyways, I mind as well re-enable freesync. I only disabled it so I could get dolby vision, but besides that, I have a dedicated blu ray player anyways. I don't even watch discs on my console anymore. I was more or less anticipating dolby vision gaming.

Can you explain why lg old secret settings says 5.5hz and not 120hz refresh rate? I see other people and when they click on the green button it says 120hz and not just 5.5hz

So i did eveything you did in the video and for some reason the only thing it says that i can't do is dolby vision. it doesn't have the green checkmark. Also you should try warzone cause right now for me is not really playable with vrr on. Is really choppy and i get artifacts when playing.

This video is factually inaccurate. Freesync/VRR is not working properly at 120hz on the LG CX. It APPEARS to be working but there is regular microstutter when panning camera etc

Dolby vision won’t work whilst and free sync is enabled. It’s down to bandwidth. It will still work with VRR due to using forum VRR api.

Very nice. I noticed on the xbox one x you can't play games at 120hz and use freesync but I don't mind really because it's not needed because playing 120hz makes games look smoother anyways. I wish they had other refreshrates as my pc monitor is 165hz.

My Warzone feels alote laggy in any mode and settings. It's updated (TV and Console) and I feel some shutter. The info on the TV shows me 70 to 120Hz in real fim... It's on 120Hz/4K settings. Plus game mode does feel washed out and ye, I feel some shutter when I play only warzone. I have VRR turned on. What could cause this?!

I have a LG C9 and am having some problems with my Series X, if I set it to 4K/120 with VRR and start playing games it crashes. the console after awhile I have seen on Twitter it’s happening to a lot of people with C9 & CX. Some people have said they have it on PC mode and it fixes the crashes and someone also said if you set the Xbox to 4K/120 without VRR it does not crash

I have copied the same settings on my 65CX but Dolby Vision shows as unavailable (greyed out on the xbox setting). It becomes accessible only when i turn Freesync off on the TV. Is it a one or the other then??

I have VRR turned on and when in Warzone I get these weird flickering white lines on the screen. When I turn VRR off, it stops. This normally happens in the Weapons/load out tab. Could you please see if this happens on your end? Or does anyone else have this same issue?

The campaign is not running at 120hz. Only multiplayer can run at 120hz.

Gear 5 game looks awesome on your LG CX. Is there any different if you turn on/off freesync? I heard many people say that freesync is for PC. The consoles is only using the VRR.

Dude, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but gears 5 campaign doesn't run at 120hz, only multiplayer does so your test wasn't correct. If you went into multiplayer you would notice the vrr issues. Avoid this TV if you need vrr, doesn't work correctly running in 120hz with vrr enabled

Im confused i thought you was supposed to have either Freesync Premium OR VRR enabled but not both as they both do the exact same thing? I am having flashing issues with VRR enabled, particularly on low light scenes in Warzone i.e. Gulag. So i wanted to test with just Freesync Enabled and VRR off

I was having the issue when enabling 4k @ 120 with VRR. VRR was the issue @ 120hz, but LG recently released new firmware update [5.0.] that fixes this issue. had to restart TV and it works. FYI if you enable AMD FreeSync Premium it will disable Dolby Vision, its best to just keep it disabled because the basic VRR standard is good enough, unless you don't care for Dolby Vision

I think i know why you cannot play Dolby Vision Blu-Rays on your Series X, i have seen multiple people saying that enabling Freesync premium for Xbox series X disables Dolby Vision, so if you're trying to play a DVD with the disc drive in the XSX with Freesync enabled, then this theoretically won't work. Try disabling Freesync premium on TV settings and playing a Dolby Vision Blu-ray on the xbox to see if Dolby Vision kicks in and works! Let me know if this works for you!

It’s better if you leave AMD Freesync off. There is no reason to use it - HDMI 2.1 supports VRR without freesync

For some reason when i had AMD Freesync Premium on High, it wouldn't load my game graphics and the maps would look ugly on Call Of Duty, then I switched it to Wide and still the same issue. Only when I turned it off the issues had stopped. I have deep color and instant game response on but not amd. I feel like I'm missing out having it off but if I turn it on, it'll make the game look bad. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it my console being faulty?
