When Setting up my Xbox Series X, my TV refused to display the video at the best 4K video, wouldn't support HDR10, or Dolby Vision. My TV settings were the problem.
My TCL 55S515 (RokuTV) has 3 HDMI 2.0 ports, but the TV settings were only displaying the video on the HDMI 1.4 standard. I'll show you to change that setting.
Want more info on HDMI standards? Check this article from CNET.

Hey! I just wanted to let you know that you just saved me a lot of frustration with this video! It worked out of the box for a week or so, then started converting my xbox down to 1080p, and then 1440p by itself. By using your method I was able to get the tv up and running again with my xbox series s!!! Thank you!

I have a tcl 6 series but when I go to tv inputs and HDMI mode it only shows auto standard and another option but doesn’t show what hdmi input it is. My tv supports 4K up to 144hz what can I do?

Check the manual for the specs of your tv. You may not have ports that are hdmi 2.1. That standard offers 4K at 120hz. I think the 144hz yours seeing in you screens refresh rate, not the hdmi speed. Also, you may have some ports that run at different standards than the rest.

And what if the tv manual doesn't say if its 2.0 or 2.1 hdmi

If they’re not advertising it, you most likely have 2.0
