Thank you. I bought a replacement button off EBAY for $35. Going to go that route. It is extremely helpful to know how to remove the shifter. I've replaced the button once before without removing the shifter and it was a struggle.
you made this super easy to follow and saved me so much frustration! I was about to head to the Volvo dealership but thought I would give your video a try... I watched the part 1 to this too. I had my little shift knob fixed within 20 minutes! many thanks! Please keep adding videos as things come up =)
Also same for V70 and XC70 up to around 2007. Can also get a button replacement kit from various independent Volvo Parts companies and fix just the button. A lot cheaper than the whole gear knob.
Please what is the name of the white cable underneath the wooden panel in 1:25 ? Mine on my 2006 XC90 V8 is no longer attached as I peered into the gear system. Thanks.
2007 xc90 this did not work for me... It will grudgenly go into R, N, D, and MAN, but will not go into P. Note: The little white button down under has been zip tied in the DOWN position. Just bought a 30 days ago. Not sure if Volvo originally did this or previous repair. Any other ideas? Maybe I'll remove zip tie, move button up and then back down?
I just bought this part to install on my 2005 xc90 and the shifter was SO HARD to pull off! Finally got it off, but I can’t whack the new one down, it’s still loose. Suggestions?
Have the same problem, but this won’t fix it: you have a broken shifter and need to replace a little yellow piece inside the shifter compartment. Think it’s called a “claw”, but can’t remember part number off the top of my head.
