I've been diving with my XDeep Zen for over 3 years, and it's simply fantastic! It's sturdy, well-built, and super comfy. It's definitely great value for the price! I use Ghost's ultralight backplate for tropical diving and switch to a steel backplate for cold water drysuit diving. Thumbs up to XDeep for a great product!
Got my Zen upgraded with just the wing to use doubles. Like the modularity. Bought a second backplate for my single setup, though. Was just to lazy to change it on every vacation, kinda like to grab my warmwater gear and pack it
I work at a dealer for xdeep stuff. really awesome operation. go full custom with the name engraved and everything. 100% worth doing, same with halcyon. Also they have the best bolt snaps on the market
So you'd be better off avoiding the buckles of the deluxe as this is just as easy to get on and off in the water (thinking my 200 odd rib dives last year) as the deluxe? Great video as ever!
I dive the Project for 2 years now and I really love it, but there is one thing that is super annoying. I have to use the top most hole so the cylinders are high enough and that one isn't really thought through, the harness runs over it, without an extra hole in the harness like on other BP/W so it's super hard to access, especially when you use a V-weight. You also can't push an extra hole in the harness because it's not centered to the BP hole.
They do two sizes, this is the larger of the two sizes but XDEEP make a smaller backplate for divers shorter than 175cm/5'9. The design is much the same just a little shorter
There was rumor of one a few years back but I don't think I've seen anything since, they do make a RB wing for the Stealth but nothing for the Project. Maybe it's still going through CE Certs.
Hi thank you for the presentation of this beautiful wings. I have a question > many brands add a strap on the wing to make it deflate faster ; why in xdeep we don't found it ?
@@ScubaDiverMagazine Ok thank you for your answer, i need some pro advice :) iam actually a CMAS *** diver and ii use the Dragon SLS form Mares and i want to switch to a back buoyancy and i am looking for an xdeep BCD or the Beuchat Materlift tek ? any advice to make the right choice ?
How would you use the loops that can make a dir shoulder strap a bit more adjustable (forget the name ) since this has a bit different strap routing through the plate
You'd struggle to use an Agir Harpa Loop or a Mares XR SF2 on the Zen backplate. The slots are only 4mm wide on the backplate but the bars of those loops are 5mm thick...
#askMark. I dive the Zen with the stainless steel BP. I'm thinking of buying the aluminium plate for travelling but I've heard that there can be problems with using steel bolts on aluminum in sakt water. Do you know anything about this? Ive travelled with the steel plate before - just packed fewer clothes! - but would like to take a lighter plate if possible.
Yes, the two metals can basically fuse together and make it really hard to separate. That's why on some backplate hardware you are given plastic fittings so the two metals don't touch. Plastic or rubber washers should help and you may find your Zen already has some fitted. The bolts on this Project and my XDEEP STA that comes from the Ghost all have plastic fittings to prevent metal on metal contact.
Hey Mark, in which Video do you compare the zen plate with the Mares? I cant fibd it. But you have shown that the Zen Wing fits on the mares backplate. Can you tell me which Video?
Hi I would like to ask I’m planing to buy xdeep nx project, and buy single tank adapter for short dives, but I’m afraid that with STA and 12-15l steel tank, bladder be to big and It become taco. Can you help me to make decision? Thanks
I have a Zen and I am 171 tall and I changed my plate from medium to large. So I would say large plate. Maybe I having short legs but large suits me much better.
I dive this system and really like it. Very comfortable. Agreed on the extra space of the shoulder straps making it easier to put on and take off. Really love the crotch strap! I do find that the bladder makes me a bit feet light, even with jet fins. Adjusting the wing or plate location didn’t resolve - a tail weight did the trick. Overall, more comfortable than other BP&W systems I’ve tried. I think there’s only a couple of sites currently offering in the US.
XDEEP are still relatively new compared to some of the big brands out there. Most of their dealers seem to be on the East Coast of the US There's a full list of their dealers in the US on XDEEP's site: www.xdeep.eu/lista-dystrybutorow-dl.html?country=United+States
