The most heartbreaking moment for me was Xena on the field, fighting her last battle, semi conscious,on the verge of death, calling out for Gabrielle right before dying.Gabrielle was her everything till her last breath.
libre soy, There are some people who say that this wasn't supposed to be the end and if you watch a couple of episodes in different order, then it's a happier ending. That brought me some closure
I really think Xena deserves a movie. I would totally love to see a reunion. I can picture something such as 20+ years after their separation, Gabrielle travelled and fought for justice for many years but, down the road decided to go back to her roots, she settled down, she started to write again and opened a school for writers, poets, theatrical actors… And after all those years and sacrificing herself to avenge the 40,000 souls, Xena has been given an opportunity to come back to life, to fulfill her destiny and to be reunited once again with her one true love Gabrielle. Of course, some evil forces could try to prevent that re-encounter from happening (some good action fight scenes would come from this opposition) but, in the end, these two souls that were meant to be together will be given the chance to live and love again. So many possible storylines… they should totally consider doing it. Maybe even a limited series. Both Lucy and Renee are still young and could totally do it.
And also... She had to stay dead cause the souls need it "avenging" their dead were an accident! Xena purposely kill so many inocent ppl but she has to die for the ones she didn't intent to kill.... Fuck that.
@Bronwyn From Australia Yep. I refuse to acknowledge any of the episodes that made out it was all just a TV show. Don't be destroying my suspension of disbelief
@@occono3543 It would've been better to have different people play Xena, Gabrielle et al in the "TV show" within the show so that it didn't look dumb that miraculously the people playing them on TV looked the same. You know what I mean
The ending is without a doubt one of the saddest endings of a television series. Sad Gabrielle could not resurrect Xena and Xena's death was for the greater good. Not only Xena's death was sad about the ending, what makes it even more sad was that Gabrielle was left all alone and we never learn of her fate after the series ended and Gabrielle's journey really felt incomplete.
Can't bring myself to watch this. I have only watched the finale once in my entire life after saving a lot of courage to do it (and I have watched the entire series at least 7 times).
Used to do all my chores then get comfortable on a Saturday night for Xena warrior princess. The good old days if l could turn back time stay safe to everyone as we are going through this pandemic.
I think in the last episode when they knelt together Xena passed some of her soul to Gabrielle that's why Gabrielle knows when Xena stops fighting and allows herself to be killed, Gabrielle now carries Xena's ashes and her soul while Xena waits in the twilight world for Gabrielle to find a way to reunite Xena's body soul and spirit, perhaps this is why Gabrielle chooses to go to Egypt, after having studied the scrolls she carries.
I hated this ending. It just felt incomplete. I agree that Xena was about redemption but I feel as if she never got the chance for real peace and to be happy. My 2 cents.
But I think that was the whole point. That you can do enough to redeem, but that doesn't automatically give you the right to then be at peace, when you've made it so that so many others didn't have theirs
@@razmataz13drums the whole point was precisely the opposite, she fighted the evil in exchange of nothing; Along the full series Xena didn't accept to be redeem because she felt she didn't deserved. This end didn't make any sense.
Actually Xena found what she was searching in this whole adventure which is the life: The knowledge to see what's right or what's wrong, as she explained. Gabrielle knew what was right almost all the time (except on here), but Xena hadn't at the very beginning. As time goes Xena "finds" that yin yang that this Tv show is explaining everytime. Gabrielle finds it too as she did learn to defend herself.
This is the most beautiful couple I’ve seen, even though they never said they were but the hints were there and so was that tension. I don’t care what anybody says.❤
The last bit on the boat where Xena was speaking to Gabrielle, I have a terrible feeling that was in Gabrielle's head. Xena disappeared on that ledge... How and why would she come back? What would have been the point in vanishing like that in the first place and crying if she were to stay with Gabrielle. I think Gabrielle was imagining Xena there and what she would do and say because that second cut where it shows Gabrielle alone on the boat probably reveals the truth. I didn't like that they decided to kill of Xena, the message we've received throughout the whole series is to seek redemption by living and working hard plus the deaths of those villagers was complete accident. Also the death is so untrustworthy since Xena's died multiple times in the series but always comes back so I feel this isn't final.
yes but in Gabby's heart she stays and she's shown to watch over her from the sky after she disappears so it's as if Xena stays with Gabby and she can talk to her ashies anytime
@@stijepoobradovic5483 There was a fantastic piece of fan fiction several years ago where Gabrielle traveled to Hamunaptra (city of the dead) in the Egyptian desert to find the book of life in that book was a ritual and she had to place the urn with Xena's ashes on the altar in the temple by sunrise to bring Xena back. Season 7 should have happened
I also got the feeling that the last scene is in Gabrielle 's head. She is speaking to Xena 's ashes and xena appears but when the scene is viewed from a distance, she is lonely. I had a huge emptiness vibe from Gabrielle because the longing to be with Xena made her imagining stuff. So i got even sadder towards the end. Grieving is tough

Xena knew she had to stay dead long before. This is why she was teaching Gabrielle the last few things she needed to learn. Plus Xena earned this death. She earned the right to rest.
I don't know who owns the rights to these shows, but they need to bring all of the action pack shows back to TV again, man!!! Xena, Hercules, Cleopatra 2525, and Young Hercules.
Still can't watch the last 2 episodes 132 episodes watching Xena's journey to redemption , from warlord toheroine ,watching her growing companionship, friendship, trust and finally love for gabrielle then to have it all taken away by writers that were too stubborn to give Xena and Gabrielle the end they deserved and the millions of fans wanted.for me I look to the makers of any future film to right this wrong.
First time I saw this episode I was cried coz of the story was so very enteresting...i feel what Gabrielle feel when Xena died and told her that she will not come back anymore..... I'm so blessed this episode so much... I want more more more for them......
This was my favourite show growing up. I loved greek mythology and to this day Mythology is one of my passions. Ive watched this show multiple times, infact i juat started watching it again lol but i cant bring myself to watch these last few episodes ever again. Once was enough. I cried so much and was so angry with how they ended it. I also felt the storyline was ridiculous and almost felt like they needed a quick way to kill her character. It just kind of felt it was out of the left field. I dunno. Itd be amazing for them to have a reboot with everyone, even if it was just a few episode season or movie. Except no Ares sadly. RIP Kevin Smith ❤ taken from us too young. Loved him so much.
I still can't watch it. It still hurts too much. I can't bear it. Poor Gabrielle. I pray they finally give us closure and let Lucy and renege give us all the ending we've been so desperately waiting for all this time
People fail to understand that Xena’s ultimate sacrifice that gave her the redemption she wanted was sacrificing a happy life with Gabrielle. The ending was perfect.
Xena and Gabrielle were my first gay heroes. And I didn't even know I was gay! I was just a young boy that loved seeing these two amazing women try and right the wrongs of the world. Same sex love is just love. Thanks for this!
The show was so beautifully done by all who made it possible! How I wish they bring them back but only Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor no else will do!
I saw this once before but remember previous episodes with alti they will be reincanated over and over so xena and gabriel allways come back in the future fighting side in side
After another year of catching up on Xena ,several things about the last episode still haunt me ,for one if Xena is a ghost and cannot take the chakram of Gabrielle how can Gabriel kiss her before she fights yashodi, also the forty thousand souls were released as Xena kills him so why does she now have to stay dead ,and when they knelt together Xena said she wanted Gabrielle to know everything ,but at the end she didn't seem to know Xena had to stay dead, why. I must agree the final episode is a 'strong ' ending in many ways ,but that doesn't make it the right ending for the many fans who like me would have liked to see them together even if they both had to die ,,,I prefer to think that when Xena and Gabrielle knelt together Xena gave Gabrielle some of her soul so if xenas soul has to stay in the underworld to stop yashida controlling the 40000 souls. using the part of the soul Xena gave her she could revive her ,wishful thinking perhaps ,but eases the mind ,in hope of new Xena material ,I still think Lucy and Renee should be involved ,after all they are not too old
Let me qualify my use of the word stubborn in reference to the writers, this series could have meant so much more and be remembered for so much more than just a controversial last episode with it's use of female warriors that were more than a match for men and it's obviously lesbian subtext,it could have led the way had the writers not ignored millions of fans and gone for an ending that suggests true redemption only ends on the death of the heroine and Gabrielle is left alone without her soulmate.so much better to have taken into account your millions of fans and ended with Xena and Gabrielle in each other's arms with these lines Gabrielle. 'i love you Xena allways' Xena 'i love you too Gabrielle ' Not so hard hitting perhaps but a fitting end to Xena's journey to redemption, or maybe I'm just an old romantic ,hope that clears it up.thanks for reading.
Loved the show but it bothers me there is no background about how those people died like Callisto , solan , her mother , hope . This was a sad ending but didn’t make any sense .
