Honestly? If you can? Just play Xenoblade! Stream them as well if you want. It'll be one hell of a wild ride! You will experience the full range of human emotions playing this series
I’d regularly tune in to each stream if she starts playing Xenoblade. It lifted me out of half a decade of burnout on video games and now I love seeing how much it’s moved even the most cynical gamers.
Everytime I hear just a few seconds of one of these songs, immediately the emotions are coming up - sadness, hapiness, depression, calmness... It's just amazing what this game has to offer

@@jayguthrie262What Xenoblade 2 excels at is their writing for the villains. This game is just as much about the villains and their story as it is the protagonists and I love that. (With the exception of course that is the tsundere lady, she could of been written better, but I guess her sole reason for existing is to give the other male villains something to obsess over xD.)
You absolutely need to hear “The Tomorrow With You” preferably with “Parting” ahead of it. It brought the guy on Music Theory for Gamers to tears and pleading about the beauty of music. “Drifting Soul” and “One Last You” are also both vocal themes that are excellent. This is seriously probably my favorite OST of all time.
Because it came out in December. Smash Ultimate is an amazing game yet it was never nominated for ANYTHING, not even for best fighting game, which seems weird when Smash Wii U got nominated for best fighting game back when it came out. But that's all because Smash Ultimate came out in December. Games that come out in December never make it to The Game Awards because The Game Awards always take place during early december, while nominees are chosen as early as mid-November. So games that come out in late November - late December can't make it because they are technically still counted as releases of that year(so Xenoblade Chronicles 2 being released in December 2017 means it is still counted as a 2017 game, so it can't make it to 2018 Game Awards, but it also came out in December after the Nominees were already chosen, so it also can't make it to the 2017 Game Awards). This has been an issue with The Game Awards for a while now, and it's why game devs have a very difficult choice to make with end of year release dates: A. should they release it in December just before holidays to increase sales? or B. should they release it in October - November 1 - 2 months before holidays to have a chance of making it to The Game Awards while still having good sales advantages?
The rollercoaster of emotions during the last 3 themes is amazing - jumping from "this is my favourite theme so far" to "oh i'm going to cry" and back to "OH SHIT THIS IS INSANE!!!!"
It's crazy how incredible all of these tracks are, yet they barely scratch the surface of XC2 OST quality! Elysium in the Dream, You Will Recall Our Names, After Despair and Hope, Contrition, We Are the Chosen Ones, Leftherian Archipelago, Drifting Soul, Parting, Tomorrow with You, and One Last You all deserve praise for being some of the best pieces of music ever made.
Death Match With Torna, Over the Sinful Entreaty, Shadow of the Lowlands, The Decision, Yggdrasil, Still Move Forward!, The Abandoned City, Omens of Life, the list just keeps going on.
I rarely comment on reactions such as these, but I’m absolutely begging for you to discover more of this game’s OST, there’s just sooooo many amazing themes in this game you could cover. There NEEDS to be a part 2, maybe even a part 3, to fully appreciate how good the soundtrack is for Xenoblade 2.
The Xenoblade 2 soundtrack overall is the best of the numbered trilogy in my opinion, glad to see people enjoying such a masterful soundtrack! Here's to the Xenoblade 3 soundtrack next sometime!
There is so many amazing tracks you have missed in both Xenoblade 1 and Xenoblade 2. I highly HIGHLY recommend doing a revisit before you inevitably get to listening to Xenoblade 3 🙏👀
"This feels like it should be in a film" is such an interesting statement. As someone who has played video games their entire life, it feels weird that most people still have the perception that movies are important, while video games are not. But when was the last time any movie actually had a standout soundtrack? They might be great in the moment, and do perfectly accompany the movie, but they all kind of blend together and you forget them as soon as the movie's over. Video game composers have been putting out one amazing soundtrack after another for so many years that it always makes me sad that not more people take the time to listen to them and appreciate how masterful these songs are. So it's always great to see when someone discovers these OSTs and gets blown away by them.
What also blows me away is the sheer size of the OSTs. XC1 and XCX are each 4 CDs, XC2 / Torna are 6 CDs and XC3/FR are 9 CDs. And I personally think that there is not a single bad song in them.
@@dirkbechtold2320 I agree for the most part, but X definitely has the more inconsistent quality for songs. It has some great bangers, then it has the New LA theme which is awful
to answer your question about standout movie OSTs: literally any ghibli film, they have the personality of a jrpg (which many movie soundtracks lack) while also being able to convey emotion in the movie context themselves
Honestly you could easily do a part 2 of just Xenoblade 2 alone. Even so, still absolutely KEEN to see you checking out Xenoblade 3. The best in the series without question
This game's OST is super powerful. Music in Xenoblade 2 is so perfect. And don't even start me on the piano. There's still so much more of the OST that could be explored in the future... or even the 3rd Xenoblade game... 😏😏😏
Over recent years the piano has became my favourite instrument, and i think that comes down to how versatile it can be with how its played, being able to produce so many different sounds and vibes and melodies. But by far my favourite part is the sense of nostalgia it can bring out with the opening theme being a great example
Counterattack will always be my favorite from this OST... It plays during some of the hypest moments of the game, and it's just perfect the first time you hear it!
This is a top 3 game of all time imo. For sure best soundtrack of all time though. I am telling you that you NEED to listen to more. This game has a huge soundtrack and literally all of them are just as good as the stuff you listened to here. Not even scratching the surface with these songs.
I was looking forward to this video. I'm so glad you appreciate Xenoblade's music, and 2 has my favourite OST out of the main trilogy. The piano for the main theme is a tradition for the trilogy and the DLC's by now. I could go on for hours about the flutes in other pieces too.
a shame you didn't listen to the beautiful vocal themes, since drifting soul and one last you are wonderful (also you should listen to the xenoblade 2 dlc music, if only to listen to torna battle theme and a moment of eternity)
the main theme is also called "where we used to be" Uraya is the giant whale thing you see in the background of the cover and most video's of Xenoblade 2 songs the song of giga Rosa, AKA the theme of fighting a giant chibi maid mech piloted by a capitalist furball and his lackey Walking with you: a song for a Splendid Soul
That Main Theme before I played the game gave me such a different slew of emotions then what I feel listening to it after I’ve beaten it. I love this game with all my heart.
Xenoblade 3 suggestions ❤ -Off Seer -A life sent on (flute) -Carrying the Weight of Life -The Bereavded and Those Left behind -Battle Mobius -Noah and N -You Will know our names (finale) -Origin Depths: Section A -Showdown with Z
From this game’s OST: I NEED to see your reaction to Drifting Souls, Tantal’s theme (day), Shadow of the LowLands, Our Eternal Land, and We Are The Chosen Ones
I know saying this is "THE" best ost wouldn't be serious , so, although that is what I do believe, I'll settle with "one of the best" OSTs ever made. I absolutely fell in love with it, and believe me, I listen to THE WHOLE thing, not skipping songs, quite often, because it's just that good. It is in fact the first OST that I decided to actually buy (phisical), and tagged along Nier ones. Hopefully you get the chance to listen to more of the tracks eventually, because there are some real masterpieces. "The tomorrow with you" is a must , best track in the ost imo (different but somewhat similar to "Walking with you"). Better if listened to right after "Parting". "Battle!!" from the Torna expancion DLC , anyone and their uncles will tell you it's an incredible piece...no use describing this one with mere words. Also for some choir ones, "Past from a distance" and "shadow of the lowlands" ...but if I were to keep on going I would never stop with so many bangers, emotionals, solemn, relaxing, incredible and beautiful pieces...so I'll stop xD.
I think it's the most playful one, but each game is going for something different. The soundtrack for the first game is more heroic, with more choirs and grandiose motifs, the soundtrack for the third game is more melancholic, meant to reflect the twisted state of the world, but with notes of beauty here and there, especially in the themes that call back to the original worlds, like Great Sword Base. The soundtrack to X is 100% sci-fi action anime.
The Giga Rosa theme is such a tokusatsu song! Tokusatsu being a genre of action shows that got popular in Japan during the 60's and 70's (tokusatsu means special effects). Look up old Kamen Rider or Ultraman themes or even the theme song from the Japanese Spider-Man show from the 70's and you'll see what I mean!
Xenoblade 2 is my favorite game of all time and im so glad you are covering it! So many good songs and you’re barely scratching the surface with a few of them.
Many music rippers tend to do two loops of the music. You can see that with the Xenoblade DE music, which for the Collector's Edition they distributed a selection and those did have only one loop and also a closing.
PLEASE do a second one of these for XC2 since there are many tracks that I would say are more significant to listen to than Giga Rosa or The Power of Jin. The music of 2 is the best in the entire series. I’d recommend the day theme of Tantal, the Battle-Torna theme, Cliffs of Morytha theme, THE DECISION (You HAVE to listen to The Decision, it’s literally Godly music in the most literal sense), Incoming! (Optional, this one you can skip) & Tomorrow With You.
If you liked the flutes in the Uraya theme just wait until you hear Xeonblade 3's soundtrack. The flute is really emphasized in it, and it's probably my favorite soundtrack in the series. I highly recommend the main theme of the game "A Life Sent On", which while not the title screen theme, is the song where the game gets a lot of motifs from, and it's absolutely breathtaking.
Xenoblade 2 ost is a masterpiece, there are lots of songs i love, please continue reacting to it =D Some recommendations: -Those who stand against our path >Battle -Bringer of chaos ultimate (Zeke battle theme) >Battle -Drifting Soul [the one with vocals] >Cutscene -Tantal >Exploration -Gormot >Exploration -Gramps (Fonsett village) >Location Great reaction as always 👍
Counterattack is one of the greatest Video Game songs of all time and probably best song in the entire series, X and 3 included, I was so mad when Xenoblade 2 got completely snubbed at the game awards for any recognition whatsoever that year and wasn't even included in the next year either.
A bit late, but if you have the time, I'd heavily suggest the song Desolation, its a much more somber piano rendition of Walking With You that never fails to get me (and many others) emotional. Its simply gorgeous.
I love love love Counterattack. The way its starts to build up, only to slow back down with that ticking noise of a clock ONLY to hit you RIGHT BACK with a massive Counter Strike.
The soundtrack for this game is nothing short of incredible. If you ever listen to more some i always enjoy listening to are: Incoming Parting The Tomorrow with You Bringer of Chaos Ultimate A nopon's life A faint hope One last You Torna Battle A moment of eternity.
Something I don't see people say about Uraya is it may not be the MCs home, but it is ours. That is where the story kicks you in the lowest point and where it proceeds to bring you up.
xc2 my fav videogame music ost ever made, from my 30 years in this industry I never experienced something so amazing as this francise and specifically this game music. Not to mention the story so beautiful and such a rollercoster
I played the games starting back in 2020 and I still think about them all the time. The stories, the characters, the music, the worlds. You owe it to yourself to try xenoblade 1. That games ending is mind blowing
This game has the best sountrack ever, no one can contest this. Just play this game; i'm 35 year's old, more than 20 years of gaming, this game is by far my best remember of all time.
Counterattack is a theme that carries the game on its shoulders. I know people who bought the game after hearing that theme alone. I might have many issues with this entry in the series but I cant deny how much of a hype song that is.
I just love more people reacting to the XC2 OST, it's amazing, you're sweet and fun! You should listen night version of world musics they're so pretty, like Mor Ardain and Uraya example, also one of my favorites, Alba Cavanich night theme (which is capital of Mor Ardain ;)
Hearing the Xenoblade 2 title theme brings me back to 2019, when I picked up the game for the first time, and all the memories from the game. Monolith might be the best storytellers ever
The upcoming Main Themes from 2 and 3 are actually not from Yoko Shimomura anymore and thus a more focused on Piano than the whole orchestra thing. But they are obviously still AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL!
You should definitely listen to more Xenoblade music (including Future Connected, Torna and Future Redeemed), all games had amazing soundtracks. "Counterattack" is the younger sibling of "Confrontation with the Enemy" from the first game, something I picked up straight away. I did not appreciate the similarities - people actually had to explain to me that this song was supposed to get me all pumped and happy because all I could feel was terror. I can only imagine the big, silly grins on the musicians' faces when they recorded the "Song of Giga Rrrrrrosa". Based on the music, can you guess what Jin's power is?
Fun Fact: "Counterattack" is meant to parallel and be 2's version of "Engage the Enemy" from 1 with musical references to it. 3 Also has its own version too which musically references both "Engage the Enemy" and "Counterattack" called "The Weight of Life." I just love how these tracks with identical purposes in these stories are made to sound alike.
The problem with some game soundtracks is they're game rips so they're kind of just a loop instead of being arranged by a composer. Crazy that nintendo never released an official soundtrack for these games. Some of the best soundtracks ever, I'm sure people would buy it
Can't believe you didn't hear The Tomorrow With You. I highly recommend it, it's probably the best song in the game. I also highly recommend One Last You.
Agreed. It has such a strong musical identity as is so interwoven with the characters and their emotions, and there are so many leitmotifs too. Love XC1 and XC3 too but there’s just something about this one.
Xenoblade 2 is probably my favorite video game soundtrack of all time. My only problem with this video and this series is that it will never manage to cover the EIGHT HOURS of amazing music this game has. (And that’s not even including the DLC story!)
Whoever recommended those XC2 track’s definitely knew what they were doing. They definitely chose some highlights in that game. XC2 has a lot of great tracks
Xenoblade 2 is a problematic OST because any time anyone reacts to it I feel like they missed out on a ton of great tracks. The entire soundtrack is fantastic and nearly every song is so great and well known that it's iconic. Even the few that aren't are still absolutely fantastic hidden gems. Even more tragic is that nearly half of the songs have alternate versions either as official remixes or for the official soundtrack release. It's my absolute favorite soundtrack of all time and I will not stop praising it.
Great video! This songs are beautiful. I recommend that you listen to the song, Gormott and Letherian archipelago, also from this game, I’m sure they will blow up your mind 😉. You can listen to the night versions of all this songs as well!, those are lovely too
like xc2 is arguably the worst game out of the trilogy due to some to some things just not working out so well (especially voice acting and character design) but i think the ost if absolutely the strongest aspect of the game it elevates the game to another level through really displaying the characters emotions through the music much more than the poor voice direction ever could
