So Reynbow joke aside, I think there might be a legitimate reason to talk about rainbows more. There is one bit of possible symbolism I haven't seen discussed anywhere yet. The evidence: Our protagonist is named Noah and is dressed primarily in red. Taion is distinctly Orange with his scarf. Mio is white with bright yellow twin rings. Eunie has a neon green jacket. Lanz is greenish blue. Sena has blue-ish purple hair. You might even call it indigo. Noah's flood was ended when god sent them a rainbow: "I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between man and the earth... Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life." I think our party is the rainbow in contrast to the stark black/white of Agnus/Keves. Will they be acting in god's will? Will they represent some kind of covenant? I think this alludes to a few things. 1. One or more characters to fill out the vibrant rainbow of character colors. (Poppi does have purple hair...) 2. There is definitely going to be some talk about floods and/or an ark (the boat we see in the trailer?) 3. Biblical Noah sent out a raven which returned empty handed and a dove which returned with an olive leaf signifying the receding waters. More symbolism opportunities there. (Taion does have bird themed powers...)

I will say an interpretation on the lights at least in specific relation to Xenoblade. The only other times we see similar effects are when people connected to the Conduit die. Meyneth: Dissipates into Red Particles Malos: Dissipates into Purple Particles Pneuma: She even dissipates but the particles rejoin the core crystal at the end of the XBC2 so that very much seems that may be intentional. Klaus and the Conduit itself: Dissipates into Yellow particles that highly resemble the XBC3 ones And now those are in the logo itself and all over Eonios? What if the world of XBC3 itself is fading away and thus why the logo is, and the Offseers and the Clocks are the way to keep it sustained by mediating the fading/offsetting it?

Also, I think we're being bamboozled with that Fallen Arm shot. The Distant Fingertip in 1 was on the middle finger, while the spot we see in 3 looks to be on the index finger, and the arm itself is oriented differently; the fingers are curled closer to the palm. That could be the right arm, which Zanza snapped off right before he nuked the rest of Mechonis.

One thing to note on the tattoos, specifically Mio’s. Someone on Reddit a few days ago compiled every shot in the trailer that we can see Mio’s neck in. In all the trailer frames, Mio *doesnt* have her tattoo. Worth noting that the frames we can see Mio’s neck is when she’s in her army uniform, not the more casual outfit we see in her keyart.

People keep bringing up Rex and Zeke but no one's really mentioned Garfont Village/Mercenaries in all the Vandham talk. Seeing as Uraya is a major part of the world in XC 3 (we even see the glowing Urayan trees) Garfont would likely be present especially if there is a Vandam character who running a 3rd party to the war, same as in XC2. It would also be a neat way to have them be a successor to both Rex and Vandham (possibly even adopted into the village as an orphan by Rex?) and then continuing on their legacy through leading the mercenaries. Edit: it would also give the character an in universe reason for being Vandham's namesake AND have the accent

I think the whole "clock" theory you came up with is very interesting, but I'm really not sure if I completely agree. I know one of the central themes is "Life", and clocks could be used as a mesure of someones life, but I don't think those "Ouroboros rings" are clocks, pretty sure they're just a new game mechanic and might have some relation to the Ouroboros Melia mentioned. It just feels like haveing the characters "Life" displayed on there wepons doesn't really make sense. But you may still be onto something, just don't limit all your theorizing to this one theory you came up with, because you may end up missing the bigger picture by trying to make it make sense. i guess? My theory on the offseer with the 2 red squares in his tattoo is that each square represents which life cycle the character is on, meaning that the 2 red squares means that this is the soldier's 2nd lifetime, which explains why all the adolescent characters have not yet experienced a full lifetime and still have 4 left. Also, the hidden square of Mio's tattoo is the leftmost square, the very same position that is colored in for the blonde off-seer, meaning Mio could possibly only have 3 lifetimes left and explaining the "fine for you isn't it... all that time you've got" line. Also, its possible Noah saw her lose that first life, if this theory holds true.

observations: - the off-seers remind me of final fantasy 10's summoners, notably the "sending" ritual, - they might be on "borrowed time" (like the _in time_ movie from 2011), they might basically duke it out (a huge battle), and when the battle's over (but not the war), they "harvest" the "souls" (energy) from all the fallen combatants (their own allies as well as the enemies), and then it "charges" the huge machines (the uroboros circle all these have either in their mouths or somewhere else on them mechs - but when they're active, it's a half circle, not a full one? hm), it could even be a part of the gameplay mechanics (as it's on the playable character's weapons, too, albeit much smaller - and Mio? says "filling the flickering clocks in our eyes" or something like that - weird eyes, like the mimeosomes? hm - or it's not literal, I don't know!), maybe something like xenoblade X (how you collect the miranium... maybe you collect the energy by battling monsters, and repair the world - basically you get access to new locations or parts of locations, or something)... "Gameplay mechanics", you know, it reminds me how the arts fill up/charge/cooldown (in 1 and X, I mean), at least visually... - they call the clocks "flame clocks"... so, uhm... Pyra? - the "tattoo" reminds me of the brand from final fantasy 13 (the ones the I'cie have, and if they can't finish their "focus" or mission in given time, they turn into a cieth - a zombie, basically... very much like the Guldo from Xenoblade 2) - ouroboros if it's a group, it's like avalanche from ff 7 [sorry not sorry to mention final fantasy a lot, but, long story short, xenogears was originally final fantasy VII, basically - the shared DNA is still there] ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

1. I think it could be the Mechonis Sword cut in half. They only show a small portion of the actual hilt at the end of the trailer, so it might appear more complete than it actually is. The other time it appears in the trailer it doesn't look longer than the remaining half in XB1. 2. In some languages the translated subtitles just use the English names, e.g. the trailers published on Nintendo Portugal and Nintendo Nederland, so there's no reason to guess. 3. Japanese fans initially thought that the flame clock is a 日時計 ("sundial") but then came to the conclusion that it is most likely a neologism with the same pronunciation 火時計 ("fire clock") based on the translation in the other languages. 4. I don't think Eunie's darker hair and darker wings are unrelated. Darker hair than in Saitou's designs in the models seems plausible but I don't think that darker wings are just a model thing, so either both change during the story or it's just the lighting. 5. It's very interesting that the iron giants are called "colonies." This has to be somehow related to colonies as a concept in Xenoblade 1.

24:45 in the spanish version, Eunie refers to the clocks on their eyes, specifically using the word for "belong to" not "in front of". As if they had clocks inside(?) their eyes they could fill. I wonder if this is just a mistake in translation to spanish due to lack of context.

In Japanese it's 「瞳の火時計」 which means "fire clock(s) of the pupil(s)," so it has a similar meaning of "belonging to" the pupil/eye. 25:05 It's interesting. The word used in the Japanese trailer for "Flame Clock" is 火時計 (hidokei, literally "Fire Clock"), but it is a homophone to the Japanese word for sundial (日時計) since both 火 (fire, flame) and 日 (day, sun,...) can be read as "hi", while 時計, tokei, in both cases means clock.

I've been watching the trailer on loop and it appears that Mio's weapon can be thrown and come back. Also some of the mechs look like an upside down metal face. Also the sheilds Lanze and other soldiers create are not blade shields but have the hexagonal pattern for a apilt second and the edges of the shields have hexagons at the edge. Thirdly in the boat scene at the eryth archipelago I think you can see a bit of fonsets area. No houses but the slopes that lead to the village. And because I'm relaising even more things it'd be cool if bird boy can use his origami in battle to make characters jump off of them but I do not know how that may help. The offseer thing reminds me of how on the Bionis, prior to the revival of Xanxa, the Homs had a practice of returning the dead back to the Bionis. There is this theme of returning the dead to the land that spawned them and showing them respect. Perhaps 2 was trying to reference this when Rex brought Pyra to meet his dead parents, though they didn't really show any ritual for the dead in that story, it didn't seem. So it's interesting because it feels like the evolution of a tradition from 1. It'll be interesting to learn how the cultures all influenced each other like this and what drives them to war. Maybe it's just 1984 "War is Peace" fodder. The endless war distracts the people from the real problems back home, or offers them a hope and faith in something tangible since they know they live in a world without Gods due to Shulk's wish. Perhaps losing God was too much for them and the leaders realized the people needed something to give their lives meaning, so they present themselves as God and execute this war in an effort to create purpose and order among the masses. Just a series of random thoughts I had about all this
@LillyTensei
@LillyTensei 2 года назад
I haven't seen anyone mention this at all, so I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts. Something in Future Connected actually spoiled the world of Aionios. To an extent anyway. There are a few one off lines that the party has, where they name drop locations from Xenoblade 1. Off the top of my head I remember Tephra Cave and Makna Forest specifically. I think a lot of fans took that as "this is a cave near colony 9, this is a forest where nopon live, let's just rename them after the old ones" and didn't consider the matter any further. But the trailer for 3 straight up has shots of Makna Forest in it. So I think it's far more likely that Aionios is actually Shulk's universe, and something brought the folks of Elysium to it. How? I have no idea. But that explains things like Urya being in completely unrelated locations, and why things like Leftheria are now in the middle of Eryth Sea.
@LillyTensei
@LillyTensei 2 года назад
Also another observation I made. Noah's sword looks like a fusion of the Monado REX and Monado 3. That could potentially hint at him being a descendant of Dunban, who did wield the Monado at one point. Why he has one? I've no idea. Unless the Fogbeasts became a bigger threat to the point Shulk made multiple Monado REX's capable of inducing the Hilbert Effect to deal with them. But I actually kinda doubt that, as I feel any threat with the Fogbeasts would take priority over the war if they were big enough of a threat to mass produce the weapons needed to kill them. This would also cause a really unfair power balance with Agnus, who presumably don't have any way to deal with the Fogbeasts. It'd be fucked up, but if Melia really wanted to destroy Agnus, they could just leave them to the Fogbeasts as they don't have any REXs.
@LillyTensei

Another another observation cause you're currently talking about it, but you can actually see a red *something* at the base of the Mechonis sword, where it's impaling the ground. I took that to be the "scar" of where Zanza split it. The length discrepancy I actually don't think matters at all, and my reasoning for that is the Birth/Death of a Universe cutscene. In both 1 and DE, the version of it we see is vastly different from the version we see in 2, but they're both clearly showing the same events. And if something that universe defining can have inconsistencies, I see no reason why the blade of the Mechonis can't be a few miles longer to make it more visibly striking as a World Tree/Mechonis set piece visible at all times.
@ArinJager1
@ArinJager1 2 года назад
I read/hard somewhere that the X1 world is a pocket dimension of sort, so it might be the other way around (things from X1 got transported to the world of X2 - the one at the end, at least)... like pieces raining down on the "new alrest", maybe the "new alrestians" mistook that for an attack? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ who knows
@LillyTensei
@LillyTensei 2 года назад
@@ArinJager1 you're not wrong that it started out as a pocket dimension, but I think the original intent was Shulk genuinely created a new universe at the end. Especially after DE didn't update the cutscene at all. So I do still think Aionios is Shulk's universe. The only real example I can think of something "falling" as you say in the trailer would be Sword Valley itself. But the location doesn't make sense in that case. The orientation of the sword wouldn't match up if only the half remaining fell onto Urya. It's stabbed at an angle into something next to Uyra, not into Uyra. Other examples are the fallen arm, Makna forest, and the plains area that resembles the knee of Bionis. Almost everything shown is a location from 1, that has elements of 2 "fused" into it. It would also make sense that Aionios is the world Shulk created, by virtue of Future Connected being the most recent Perfect Works entry for Xenoblade. In that the main plot revolves around things coming into Shulk's world, and only once do we see anything leave it. And if anything, the Telethia that cross the fog rift, are likely explaining why one exists on Mira more than anything, as the Fogbeasts and Tainted are literally the same thing, and in both case Telethia actively hunt them. The only other reason why Urya and Sword Valley would be in that orientation is if whatever Deus equivalent Taion mentions picked the thing up and started hacking away at Urya, then stabbed it into the ground next to it. But that would make the deus equivalent at least as large as Bionis or Mechonis, and we don't see anything that large anywhere in the trailer, other than Urya itself.
@LillyTensei
@LillyTensei 2 года назад
Also Takahashi was really clear that Future Connected was "the future of the Xenoblade series." With the context that it's Aionios and all the hints and location name drops, that statement makes a lot more sense. Prior to Xb3's announcement, the most that meant was potentially explaining Telethia the Endbringer and the Tainted in the context of Xenoblade as a series, which has absolutely nothing to do with 2 other than a model being used. Sure the Fogbeasts are also clearly Gnosis, but that's saga and for legal reasons I doubt they'd expressly state that Saga is the future of Xenoblade, even with Kos Mos and Telos in 2 as cameos.

Okay, I have some observations after watching both the original video and this one. Sorry if my thoughts aren't that well organized, I'm still trying to process everything and draw from my memories of previous games. Starting with the two nations: Keves is a nation that utilizes technology similar to that of XC1, which (at least to me) is similar to the Artifice technology that the Aegis used and mecha that Torna used to destroy much of the world in XC2. Agnus is a nation that utilizes Ether and technology similar to that of XC2, which is (at least the Ether) what Zanza utilized to manipulate the world in order to maintain his life. Taking these thoughts into consideration, it could be easy to see how relationships between the two nations could become antagonistic really quickly. How intentional or accidental this is remains to be seen. Concerning the Zanza symbols on Noah's flute: Noah, being an “Off-Seer” plays a flute with Zanza's symbology on it, possibly symbolizing that idea that Reyn expressed in XC1 in the Bionis knee when he spoke of returning the dead Homs to the Bionis, which we know is a way in which Zanza restored / recovered his Ether. This may or may not have anything to do with Zanza, but I can't rule out Zanza / Klaus having some influence in this game. Also, with the “Project Noah” reference in the first video, possibly relating to Noah if your hunch is correct, his design of dark hair and blue eyes bears some similarity to Miang Hawwa from Xenogears, who created a bio plant to create the first humans (separate from Abel who was the sole survivor of the Eldridge crash) in order to restore Deus. If he's a “prototype,” it could be possible that he's an equivalent prototype “system Hawwa” of this world/universe. I don't know how it would work out, but I can't rule out the possibility that the control and stability (as self serving as it was) Zanza provided, which was lost with his death (and Shulk refusing to take his place) and the disappearance of the Conduit created the environment that we find in Future Connected and ultimately XC3, and somehow the Off-Seers have a role in attempting to resurrect Zanza / Klaus. If only certain people can be Off-Seers, I could see a possibility where their use of the flutes gathers the Ether of the fallen to Zanza. Again, I don't know how that would work, but I can't rule out the possibility either. I think your concern about Taion's remark “they're not your friends anymore, they're his fuel” has some merit, with the purpose of the Off-Seers sending the Ether from the dead (possibly the glowing lights) to fuel a yet unseen entity using their flutes, which may or may not be Zanza. However, if it's not Zanza, then the following could be plausible: if Agnus has yellow light, which matches the Ether light that Mythra gives off (Pneuma), and Keves has blue light, which is similar to the light that the Shulk's Monado gives off (Alvis), I could see the war as a means to restore Malos (Logos) through the use of Ether channeled through the respective Trinity processor of their world. This possibility could restore the Trinity processor to it's original operating capability, but I don't have enough information to figure out why. The only reason I could see this as a possibility is because of how Malos restored his core crystal using Pyra / Mythra's memories. Concerning the clock that keeps being referenced, if I had to make a guess, considering that each entry so far had an Trinity processor in it, the “clock” could be a system clock of a computer, and when the party members obtain the Ouroboros symbol, they are freed from that clock, which to me sounds like they are no longer contributing to the system that the clock is connected to. Possibly a joint effort by Mythra and Alvis to restore Logos, or something else entirely. There's too many unknowns to continue at this point.

@jeffburkholder8360 2 года назад
@@joeyjose727 I'm not saying he disrespected the idea of it no. I just wonder if in the circumstances of the combining universes the chaos that may ensue from that would be intense. Especially considering how each universe feels about zanza/claus. Alvis may have felt in order to harmonize the two universes he become a god to keep peace to this world and stabilize it with the intention of stepping down when they are stabilized. Then maybe becomes corrupt in the process. Or perhaps maybe he institutes the new Flame Clocks as the only way of keeping both nations in line and safe from more incoming universes then instructs Melia and Nia to use this method. Then the tattoo could be present on all people that have a flame clock and since alvis made the flame clock and he has a processor shaped as the conduit/zohar that's red the tattoo is zohar shape with a red eye. Another theory could be that once the conduit leaves at the end of XC2 maybe alvis attempts to make a new conduit to attempt to separate the two universes back into their original ones. I don't really know but the only thing we know of that is red and conduit shaped in the series is alvis' processor so I don't think that this is a coincidence that the tattoos are also red and conduit shaped if they don't relate to alvis in some way. Especially considering we haven't seen what he's been doing since the end of XC1.

I’ve been really thinking about it and what if the dials all just means the amount of energy their weapons have? Since ether is more scarce, it’s likely they need to monitor how much ether their weapons have before they run out. The enemy is unknown since we don’t clearly know who’s fighting who for what reason and why. My guess is the war could be based on resources and territory. If Nia is still around, it’s true this would be against her ideals but indolians are separate and they are still around, they’re just looking for power or new control. Fact that they were found in the World Tree means they acquired new tech or other discoveries. The war could actually be based on Indolin expanding weapon and territory if XC1 merged with XC2. XC1 has no reason to start a war if Shulk fixed their world but XC2 was not entirely fixed. Malos and Amalthus died but the Indolins and their ideals have not perished. It’s possible there is a 3rd party rather than XC1 waging war with XC2 but Indolin waging war on both parties.

And yeah , it would be really cool if those black fog spots would function the same as the FATE system from ffxiv , or the spacerifts from PLA and many other games, with small time-limited "events" that maybe allow you to farm up rare equipment , if you manage to overcome the hard challenge. About the character clocks, i see 2 possibilities on how they could work in the actual game : the first is being purely a narrative device, with no actual effect on the gameplay and the characters getting closer to the "end of their time" as the game progresses ( for those familiar with the Final Fantasy franchise, something similar to the L'Cie tattoo in ffxiii). If it does tie up to the gameplay , it could either be a charged attack indicator, similar to the Blade Specials of XC2, or (and this is where i get a big dose of hopium) some kind of "survival" mechanic related to the whole " we fight to live , we live to fight" thing. I dont see it being any kind of death mechanic as that might be a bit too much for a JRPG but maybe if you dont fight enough enemies, your clock runs out and you're somehow debuffed until you get some time back fighting the monster, or the opposite if your gauge is full you get permanent buffs.

I'm still kinda thinking that the symbol many of the characters have, is something similar to the l'Cie symbol from Final Fantasy 13, but maybe not as sinister in it's intent... We can assume that just like Shulk upgraded the Monado and Rex unlocked new forms of the Aegis, XC3 will have a similar kind of story related power upgrade, and it would make sense for each character to have an overall mission that makes them team up, but they might have different "focus" related to the mark, which they need to achieve to unlock new powers! I even suspect that the diamond shaped parts of the mark will progressivly get more and more red ones as the story goes on, with each new diamond turning red, meaning that they got closer to their final mission goal, and as a "reward" got to use new arts abilities. It could be fun if every character has a story wide questline, with each character having 4-5 missions you unlock along the way, where you get to find out what their individual mission is, and help them finish it to not only make them grow as a character, but also to unlock new powers to help in battle...

Hi Luxin, A few observations from a French Xeno fan here, regarding both of your videos: - about the "I refuse to believe you're him" line, I think there is something to be said by connecting two of your theories, namely: 1. there are some timeloop shenanigans; 2. Noah dies early in the story. What if Lanz really is saying this to Noah because he thought Noah was dead bu thanks to some time loop, he came back? - about Melia's age, you say we can't be sure because we don't see her face, but maybe she was only able to keep her body looking young and is in fact really old. Well, I'm not sure how you can assess the age of a character in that specific art style by only seeing her shoulders. She might just be plain old, body and face. Simpler explanation. I still think it's very possible that this is indeed several centuries in the future and Melia is simply very old. Also, to that point, Tyrea could have died of old age... - About translations and subtitles in other langages. I read the French subtitles and there isn't much to add to what you got from Spanish and Italian except one thing: when Mio talks about destroying the flame clock, the French subtitles call the flame clock a "vital dial". Just so you know. - About the Ouroboros dials, here's a wild theory from me: what if the Ouroboros was what appears when the dial actually goes empty? Maybe the war is here to keep the illusion that people die when their dial is empty, while they actually don't? This would mean that they are perpetuating a pointless massacre just to fill those useless dials, and at some point, the party members discover the truth and stop killing, and even maybe the Seers stop mourning, which shakes the balance of the world order Melia and Nia are trying to enforce. - am I the only one who noticed that the female Nopon wears a beret that looks a lot like Poppi's? - someone yet has to bring up the fact that every character seems to be close to an off-screen glowing thing on their official artwork, giving off a different shade of light for each one of them.

On doit le détruire!" which (with no knowledge of French, using Google Translate) translates to "The vital dial! We must destroy it!" which to me both supports the dial theory and also suggests that it might be some central dial that is connected to all the other dials, given that "flame" is changed to "vital."

Japanese uses the same word "fire clock" both times so they aren't of a different kind. I think "vital" in this case means "of life" here, basically "life clock." Nintendo Russia uploaded this trailer with Russian subtitles. What I find interesting is that the land is called "Содмач" in Russian. It's spelled like "Sodmuch" and there's no such word in the language. So Nintendo decided not to translate this name word by word for some reason. Ouroboros is used in plural in Russian ("Уроборосы"), and it's a bit unusual, because usually we expect this word to be in a single form. And to my ear in plural it sounds that Ouroboros really is some kind of an organization here. The Russian subs for Melia's and Nia's speach are "Ouroboros... They hate this world. Also where Mio says about how much time Noah has (all that time you've got, rather than got left), sort of implies he's been able to amass more time than her, presumably because he's been able to see off more dead than her (maybe his side was the strongest in the war) "We're fighting because there are enemies to kill" Starting to wonder if in order for people to survive, they need the energy/souls of the dead to fill their clocks up and that's the whole basis of this war

On the French subs of the trailers, Mio line about flaming clocks/dials having to go are translated as "le cadran vital" so the vital dial, which cannot be clearer than that, and i don't really see it being a mistranslation because well, vital was never an option to litteraly translate flame back in my translation classes in university x). So that means the French localization team decided to translate that very important and most likely recurrent element of xc3 world like that, and that kinda seals the deal as to what are these serpent clock everyone is wearing and they're purpose (and funnily enough, that means this time French went the direct route, contrarily to the xc1 time when they translated "face" mechons as "facia" which I do prefer way more as a translation, but i digress nerding over J-RPG localization differences)
