I can't believe how viable all these classes are, there's so damn much customization that even the worse ones can pretty easily be made good enough to use. They really gave me everything I could have asked for with this class system!
I feel like something that could be nice for the guides would be to mention requirements and locations for the ascension quests. You could give spoiler warnings for ones like Medic Gunner or Full Metal Jaguar, and place them at the end to make sure your guide is as helpful as possible without ruining the experience.
My favorite classes so far have been FMJ, Machine Assassin, Strategeos, Thaumaturge, and especially Soulhacker! This game has given me extreme Bravely Default vibes from the class system alone and I’ve absolutely loved this game and your guides on it! I can’t wait for you to cover the rest!
FMJ, Strategos, and Thaumaturge are incredible classes, ngl. Haven't unlocked Machine Assassin yet, and Soulhacker is insane... after you kill half the unique monsters in the game.
@@xenocross6597 Hunting all the unique monsters is a bit of a pain but extremely worth it. Also Machine Assassin is extremely fun to use with its debuffs and getting bonus damage from them. The Hero is also extremely good at getting Amazings in chain attacks as well!
This is a great guide! Also "I do like Aerial Slash for being a strong damage ratio and critical hit rate, and because it's funny when you have Aerial Slash and Air Slash linked together" I love funny moments like this
I appreciate all the mid-video spoiler warnings that you’ve been giving. I’ll come back to watch everything after I’ve finished the game. :) Great video as usual.
Spoilers!!!!! Another thing about lucky seven that you should probably mention when you get the chance is that the art effects change based on Noah’s base class. Like in defender tachyon slash gets high aggro and one of his arts give invincibility to all party members for a short period. I believe dimension ripper gets evade as well. A long with a bunch of other changes to the arts. I don’t remember all of them but every lucky seven art gets a different effect.
I thought the invincibility was just to himself, since he’s the tank and has all the aggro in the world and target lock. The attacker one weirdly gets random buffs and debuffs, and will die due to the infinite amount of aggro just using tachyon slash generates.
Dimension ripper will always be AOE Doom, but Tachyon slash is indeed a high aggro move in defender roles (As if landing it as a front positional didn't do that already), and I think that the top art trades smash for topple into launch.
@@xenocross6597 top art is still launch and smash. And mid master art is attack up target lock i belive. I kinda want to try to make the attacker an evasion tank just because of how dumb it would be.
Excited to see how you think about heavy guard, feels like zephyr is quick enough that ir rarely gets ficus from enemies when there's just one foe, so wondering if there's a way to make it more effective, or if the curse of the shield hammer has claimed a new victim?
Heavy guard aura is a percent reduction to damage taken. So even in single target if you control the zephyr and stand next to the other tank it can make you almost invincible.
@@SH1NK1R01 Can confirm, this is definitely the way to go. Controlling Zephyr makes the combat loop so much faster, making it easier to hold aggro with how often you’re spamming arts. Plus unlike the AI, you can time your evasion arts to an enemy using their own arts to avoid something that might one-shot you. Overall I think out of all the default classes, Noah’s and Mio’s are the best for the player to control at any given point.
I think it’d be nice if you mentioned when things are spoilers for in spoiler warnings, but other than that this is a great guide! Thank you for making these and I can’t wait to see my favorite classes covered 👀
I loved Shadow Eye in the first game but I have never used it in this one and suspected it was not going to be worth it so glad to hear you think the same lol.
Something that wasn't mentioned in the video is that Swordfighter is the best smash finisher in the game, thanks largely to the fact that Air Slash has a high damage multiplier, an additional damage boost with canceling, and a lightning fast animation to make sure the launch duration doesn't get depleted very much. Swordfighter's smashes can reach several million damage outside of chain attacks, making it a staple of speed kill runs
Lmao i already finished the game and beat all superbosses and, thanks to this video, just found out how unlimited sword works. I never controlled noah and disregarded it as just a short invincibility buff thats only useful in some abuse cases. Will definitely try it out.
Near the end of Chap 5 currently, been playing on Hard the whole way, have to admit, I'm liking the combat more than 1 and 2, would love more control of the NPC AI's however
As always you made amazing video, Enel! I have a question for you, am I supposed to constantly switch between characters in a fight because of the AI or should I stick with one character?
I always pair Sword Strike with Crimson Lance for the instant Topple and then have Eunie in Lost Exile use a combination of Soaring Tempest and Mighty Beat for an easy two step Smash.
Yeah that spoiler thing u showed at the end is unbelievably busted, used it to obliterate all the super bosses at level 94 all it takes is one chain attack and some setup with universal annihilation and something to increase smash damage
Noah's personality fits a healer or tank class. Main character wants to protect friends and others, let's make him an attacker and give him a huge sword
What happens if you use an agnian and kevesi break art together as a fusion art, would it count each break separately or would it stack it's chances? and would it be worth considering?
while I know running the instant talent could help, I allways tend to not pick it, cause I personally like the feeling of earning it also, for gems, I exchange empower with steel claw, slightly less duting chains, but reach the "Youre Already Dead" point far faster
Infinity blade getting outscaled at lvl 20 is unexpected ^^". Its my main reason of running Noah as physical attacker. Swordfighter is very stable, glad base classes stay viable in endgame.
Hey! When you finish this class guide, can you make a video with the best class for each party member? Just as you did with the best blade for every driver in Xenoblade 2.
Enel, question regarding the spoiler section: SPOILER I have the same art setup as you, but when I activate US talent art, the art that goes in Maximum Voltage slot is missing, so I can never fusion art Tachyon Slash, yet you DO have an art there. Any clues what might be happening? Also, my capable hands is at 90%, how does this increase to 100%? With your level? Thanks! 👍
Yea, so I paired air slash and violent flurry, and it tends to do more damage, even when critical hits are taken into account, than if I paired air slash with aerial slash. Do you know why this would be the case?
"If you are in early game, capable hands is not as strong and can probably be replaced" Yeah, you do realise that that master skill is a rank 15 skill and can't be given to other classes at all untill chapter 6, right?
Quick question: Spoiler Where do you think unlimited sword ranks among the other classes, like FMJ, Cammuravi's class, Soul Hacker, and the flag one(forgot the name lol), Or how does it rank just in general compared to all the other classes?
How does “boost damage when [condition]” work? If it’s a 150% boost does it multiple damage by 1.5 or 2.5? Or does it just add 150 to the art’s power multiplier?
@@mellowyellow7518 I ment the special functions of it and the changes it has in different roles. I try to leave my comments spoiler free but he mentioned it but not fully. Maybe it needs it's own video with how much it does and all the ability changes it has. Doom effect? Invincibility? And a few others that are hidden.
I was thinking for the speedrun geting capable hands skill maxed on noah could be the play. Esp for hardmode. I think getting the requirements to acention FF is not too bad with cutscene skipping.
Seraph to rank 10 is probably the most difficult part. But you’ll have all of chapter 7 to do so. But I imagine that the best they could do is having Noah on flash fencer for the 80% at rank 10. That will need testing once we figure out the rest of the comp.
Spoiler Does anyone knows how the Instant Death effect works? Noticed that while drawing lucky Seven i almost just one hit ko every normal monster with the Instant Death effect while using the multiple hit attack from lucky Seven. Even managed to get the Instant Death effect after a single auto attack during lucky seven a few times already
It’s doom. I imagine it’s the KO wounded. But it is on the auto-attack as well, at least and the end of the game… It’s the doom status, could be useful for grinding on the level 100 normal enemies in that random cave if it doesn’t take into account level differences (also works well n elites).
This has nothing to do with mechanics but SPOILERS You all think the DLC is gonna be about or at least address Noah and Mio finding each other again right? There is just so much implication that everyone remembers the people from the parallel universes, and in the post credits you even SEE Noah react to Mio’s flute and go off to investigate- in the opposite direction to where his friends were heading. I feel like with how hard they pushed Noah and Mio being destined and how there was a future for the two worlds together, there has to more coming in like a DLC epilogue, or else the ending just doesn’t satisfy.
I know this is probably long ways off but, can you do the Stalker class that Juniper gives you? Her class seemed really terrible and i want to see what you have to say on it
The main character always has a big red sword because big red swords are cool. I'm actually pretty glad swordfighter gets some arts that don't require specific positions, even though it's basically just an offensively oriented version of Shulk. Shulk could do basically nothing if he ever got aggro.
thank you so much Enel for avoiding spoilers in all your videos ❤ I love watching your guides but haven't finished the full game yet so this is perfect
A couple notes about the spoiler part: Lucky Seven in chain attacks is absolutely monstrous, I think its better than base Lucky Seven/Ouroboros. One funny thing I've discovered is that if you charge up Final Lucky Seven, swap characters, then let the AI use it, you can time activating a chain attack right as the enemy is launched before it's smashed, so you can hold it for the entire chain attack. Then, if you use Lucky Seven's smash art in the final chain attack round, you can hit much, much more insane numbers (my highest so far has been like 8 million just off of the smash hit).
Couldn’t you do all 3. So lucky seven until you have a few seconds. Origin Sword. Then chain attack once that is over and you are in front of the enemy and have launched them.
You can immediately pull the trigger on the Lucky Seven by maxing Flash Fencer and equipping the skill Capable Hands, which gives you full Talent Gauge at the start of every battle.
i think the swordclass is pretty good in this game if you know how to use it. But soulhacker is the coolest class ever in a xenoblade game ( yes sadly even cooler than dual guns). also crazy that your doing a analysis on all the classes, thank you for your hard work!
I still say guns are better because this game gets the moving while using them down to an art. Most RPGS don’t bother with the movement. Soul Hacker is boring because it’s not doing anything other games have not done for decades.
Been a huge Xenoblade fan since the XC1Wii days (though i haven't played Gears/Saga), and though I'm only at Ch5 I can say XC3 is certainly the most fun I've had playing these games ^_^ Thank you so much for all of your Xeno videos, and for being an amazing content creator in this community :D
7:25 Get rid of Steelcleaver for Empowered Combo. 70 Attack is only 4% of Noah's total attack, a 75% cancel boost would be preferable, even if it does not affect Chain Attacks.
Over all I’ve found that attack up is actually not that valuable most of the time. It’s such a small increase in damage even at rank 10 that getting utility from other gems like reduced aggro or getting health would be preferable. Especially for characters you don’t intend to control.
spoilers: lucky 7 gets different effects when noah is on a healer or tank class like healing the party with tachyion slash or the smash art giving you the invincibility buff from when you activate it
I love that you can draw weapons while swimming I have lost count how many times that has almost killed me in the others when fighting on any beach ever especially in x
Now that we know Smash damage is a bit busted, would you recommend swapping out violent flurry for mighty beat, and pairing it up with Air Slash to deal the most smash damage? Or would you pair it with Edge Thrust so you deal more damage in chain attacks with the positional multiplier?
I've kept Air Slash + Mighty Beat on my Noah, with Crimson Lance + Side Break. Keep Ashera as your hero, and she'll do the launch. If you can time the auto as close to the start as possible, I've hit 2-3 million on elites in the Elgares Depths, outside of chain attacks and with no buffs. Accessories were 105% smash dmg bonus, 100% Fusion art bonus, and 40% atk boost.
To be fair, the game has only been out for a week, so doing all of the individual classes gives him time to cover all of the earlier classes and save the ones that would be considered heavy spoilers for later on, then cover the party compositions after it's been several weeks from release and people are less worried about spoilers.
Something I noticed regarding the final part of the video. So spoilers ahead. Apparently when you use Lucky Seven in Unlimited Sword there is a chance that I dont know of how much, in which with literally every hit (even auto attacks) you can inflict doom on enemies which insta kills them. Although it doesn't work on bosses or unique monsters it is pretty funny when you kill an elite monster with literally the first attack.
Rip in backslash. Even without being able to cancel, air slash will always be better to pick in chain attacks than edge thrust (unless the bonus effect thing makes all your other back damage boosts apply too, but those accessories aren't even good to use). Ok maybe it's slightly better when fully maxed but for most of the game edge thrust is just very weak. The whole role action system is questionable in the whole because it doesn't even feel consistent.
God, one of my favorite subtle things is being able to fight in the water. you're no longer forced to sheath and get your ass beaten by whatever's looking at you.
At some point after this video was made it was discovered that the skill Ultimate Qigong has a misleading description and is actually one of the best skills in the game. It's definitely better than Dynamite Spirit, and this build uses only physical attacks so it will always benefit from reducing enemy physical defense.
Question regarding Draw Sword. If you plan to use it primarily, is there much of a point in running the Aggro Reduction gem, then? Since you’re gonna pull aggro eventually anyways, would a different gem, like the Empowered Combo or something like Dexterity Up be better?
I'm really curious to see the rankings for all the classes. I've definitely got my picks for best classes from personal experience, but id love to see what someone more intelligent with all this thinks. So far war flag (signifier i think?), soul hack knuckle thingies and lone defender are my favorites of the 3 classes. Lone defender just has good spam for aggro generation/talent art (zephyr is a very close 2nd for me for similar reasons), soul hack is just awesome conceptually and i cant wait to really play around with that, and war flag is insane with its buff generation. I think they did a great job making the classes feel largely unique and fun for the most part.
I'm not as far as you are but I must say I really like Yumsmith for being an attacker with a field buff, a break, a front positional and a debuff that makes everyone do AOE, making them more interesting to play than the other attack classes I who just camp the back of the monsters.
Lone Exile is this hybrid of a face tank and a dodge tank, with great offensive stats and mastery rewards. Signifier is the best healer class and you can't change my mind.
@@xenocross6597 dawg signifier might be just one of the best classes period that shit's stupid good for supporting😂, troubadour is also crazy with the art cooldowns. I'm not sure how it performs when maxed out, but based on the sheer potential of it alone, I'm calling that the soul hacker is probably THE best class.
some amiibo give a ton of class EXP, some just give random rewards, will you ever make a guide breaking these down? i dont expect it but it might be neat did you just grind your class xp on every char or use a strat like this?
