The Japanese are xenophobic in the way same that the crew of the USS Enterprise is xenophobic towards the Borg, they don't want to be assimilated. Japan wishes to keep it's own cultural identity and history intact. This does not mean they aren't open to new ideas, far from it, but they will take the idea and use it in the way that works best for them. The prime example of this was the modernization of Japan at the end of the 19th century. They patterned their new navy off the British navy, their army from the Prussians and so on, taking the best of what they found but always adapting it to them. Manga is another example. It was inspired by American comic books and now manga has supplanted them in popularity.

It's awesome growing up in America. Who knew our government cares more about Israel and Ukraine, and could careless about Americans.

Within one generation, immigrant families have the same decline in birth rates as the general population. The most common reason couples cite about not having kids is economic in nature. That is to say if, hypothetically, there was more affordable housing due to, for instance, fewer people entering the country, more families would be having children. Also, having retirement plans tied to the state rather than the family (and to a lesser extent the expectation against multigenerational households - that are COMMON in most of the cultures we're importing en masse) contribute to the idea that having kids is "just" a money sink. The policy of "we need a flood of immigrants to pad our catastrophic birth rates" is a Ponzi scheme.

Friendly reminder that the birth rate of immigrant populations that successfully integrate tend to mirror the native population's birth rate in a generation. So this "solution" to an aging population is at best kicking the can down the road.

Tried to join MECha in high school as a joke, since the Equal Opportunity Clause wouldn’t allow them to prevent me from joining. They talked all about La Raza and reclaiming America from the colonists. After the first club meeting, I was called into the office with my parents by a supervisor, and asked if I was American Indian or anything, and I said I was white. They asked why I wanted to join, I said something about clubs looking good on college applications. They said I could only join as an honorary member, not a regular member.

The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, signed after the Mexican-American war, allowed for anyone living on now US soil to become American citizens and keep their property. 9/10 Mexicans took that offer. So what land was really lost?

This MEChA organization is really weird and unsettling to me. I'm Mexican and reading through their Wikipedia page and website something feels off. There is an overt Indigenismo (ala Benito Juarez) while ignoring all indigenous groups and the differences there in. A focus on the bronze race (again Benito Juarez) when those same indigenous groups would kill you for claiming they were the same as the Aztecs. There is 0 historicity or memory of events past in their claims. They claim to be from Aztlan and that they are trying to get it back, but most historians agree that the Aztecs thought Aztlan was the afterlife or their place of origin which they left on a holy pilgrimage (think Mosses). The rejection of borders while keeping other modern liberal precepts. The glorifying of indigenous people, but never actually engaging on what it means to be of those peoples, it just seems like a casus belli. It's like a distillation of all the worst parts of Mexican (and maybe Latin American) thinking, but with a plastic Chicano wrapping. A little liberation theology here, a little Modern liberal state destroying indigenous people while claiming to love them there. So many mistakes come together in this thing. Side Note: While "La Raza" does mean the race it is colloquially not used referring to race at all. It is used to refer to everyone from Latin America (although very rarely used) and to refer to your close group of friends "traete a la raza" = get the boys together. However, these guys are certainly using it to mean something like "brown people"??? IDK thinking in racial terms about Latin America is kind of stupid and again a very Chicano thing.

Japan is not Xenophobic they don't have that much issue with foreigners there issue is with what those foreigners act like. In Japan even the people of the country themselves are expected to carry themselves in a certain way and act respectful and polite. If you want to go there and NOT do that which many of those foreigners do then you aren't welcome there plain and simple. The old "when in Rome" thing you know? Immigrate and integrate.

30yrs ago, I took a Chicano Studies class. My dads neighbor was retired LAPD. Never told him I took the class. He told me to be advised about that class. That MEChA had communist party ties & financial support. I asked him how he knew I was in that class?! He said his buddies on LAPDs SIS squad ( look them up, you will enjoy it) showed him a picture of me going into class. I knew who SIS was & didnt ask any more questions. Didnt say anything to anyone including the instructor because he let MEChA regularly make announcements in class. Tax payer dollars hard at work back in the day. Does LAPD have intel units still? The thing about the "reconquesta" is something that's been going on for decades. AZTLAN has been talking about forcibly taking back California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada (if not Oregon) for as long as I can remember (early 80's at least) and I've been told that I was ridiculous for commenting on it back then.

The Mexica's ancestors were expelled from Aztlan by other natives, and they worked awful hard to legitimize themselves in the Valley of Mexico. If their claim in Mexico is legitimate, then they have abandoned their claim on Aztlan. Any formulation they can come up with entails that they embrace Imperialism as valid *somewhere* in their history, which makes the Spanish conquest and US annexation valid de facto.

Something I hope catches on(but won't because of how silly the word sounds), is noting that people who advocating for foreigners that despise them aren't motivated by Xenophilia (love of the alien), but suffer from Oikophobia( fear of the home). For so many, it's hatred of the familiar they care about more than care for the foreigner.

I was at the West LA VA when some old Mexican vet came in with his son or grandson. He was wearing a Korea War vet hat, the kid had a shirt with the map of the US and the Southwestern portion of the map was crossed out with Aztlan written in. A bunch of us waiting all just shot him 'the look' at the same time and he got an expression on his face like the Morgan Freeman voiceover about fucking up was playing in his head!
