The Voigtlander 27mm f2 is even smaller and lighter than the XF 27mm f2.8 but it's a manual lens and doesn't have weather sealing. It's on the expensive side but has some great image quality. If you see one available used for a good price I'd highly recommend it.
Thanks for the recommendation, but I shoot lots of the time through lcd screen, so with manual focus lens it would be very hard to nail the focus, so the autofocus is a priority for me
The 27 f/2.8 is my first Fuji lens - I don’t even have the X-T30ii camera yet, it is still in the mail. But, the 27 f/2.8 is very hard to find - back ordered everywhere at the moment it seems- so when I found one in a local shop I snapped it up. I am on the wait list for an X100VI, but I’m kind of annoyed with that circus, so I’m looking forward to the X-T30 as an alternative.
My question is, can it take a step-up ring or does the lens focus get in the way? Does it need an "extension filter" and then a step-up ring on top of that or is there enough clearance?
Well, I never used step-up rings on any lens, so I cant say for sue, what I done is I attached lens filters to this lens which worked fine, so I suppose the step-up ring should be finse as well as it attaches in a same way as lens filter? Although it has very uncommon filter size so keep that in mind.
Great review! I have 8 lenses from Fuji (and I have had another 3 more). To be fair this is great, except from AF motor (old style). Not on par, by far, from the 'Fujicrons' or from the new 18/23/33 trio. This is more in par with the 18mm f2. To be fair, I would tell people to buy the TTartisans one, or just go to 23mm f2 or 35mm f2. This is nice, compact, new version (the one I have) is great with aperture ring and Weatherproofing but... AF motor... meh.
Wow, 8 lenses, man! Yeah, this lens isnt anything great, but for casual shoots I think it is plenty, thanks for the comment and thought I appreciate that!
As I always say as long as you dont struggle financially ant it brings the joy to your life then there is nothing wrong to have 8 lenses for your camera!
Well, you get this lens for the size, not for the bokeh. Its obvious that f2.8 on crop sensor wont be able to blow out background as lets say 50mm f1.8 on full frame, but its gives you the option of having a very compact camera kit.
