They are basically a shape-shifting alien wolf pack from another galaxy and they have a lore. The eye thing was always prominent in XG music videos. You can see them keep changing and evolving etc. You'll see the throughline if you watch all their music videos. "Shooting Star" tells the story of them wanting to shoot off into the Stars to achieve their dreams "Left Right" shows them travelling across the galaxies. "HESONOO&X-GENE" is them awakening from hibernation before reaching Earth. "GRL GVNG" is XG's arrival on Earth. "TGIF" is their evolution commencing on the planet. "New Dance" is them exploring their new environments ETC. ETC. WOKE UP is kinda like them taking over or getting ready to take over. Their different songs/MV's represent different ERA's of their arrival to Earth ( not Earth per se but planets in general I assume ) and taking over. You can check the zoomed-in eye shots in these MV's and see the differences. They used those eye thingies in other songs like Shooting Star as well. I am not 100% sure what eye represents but my interpretation is that it shows their evolution or it basically shows they are aliens in a cool and visually pleasing way. I am sure they have a more detailed lore but we as the fans don't know much details yet.
Shooting Star also explains how they are still relatively unknown at the time. Stars in the making. "All these shooting stars in the dark." They aren't in the dark anymore though. People starting to Woke Up.

I like to think that they're aliens as in "Legal Aliens" because they are Japanese but working in Korea. In another video they also mentioned that they are guerillas in camo meaning they're trying to blend in. If you are the type that think there are hidden meanings behind music then check out Puppet Show by them as well. There was definitely some controversy about that video. This is what I like about them though. They're not afraid to stir the pot a little.

Too bad you missed concerts at Yokohama K-Arena May 25th and 26th (third and fourth dates of their 1st world tour). They kicked off the tour in Osaka. I attended the Yokohama concerts. Yeah, nah you are spot on with the late 90s early 2000s rnb vibes. I believe there is a bts or interview where they are reading comments about the song and someone mentioned they sounded really hip hop and rnb. They were really excited about that because they said that's exactly what they were going for as well as mentioning Hip hop and rnb is their core identity, which is pretty evident with their music catalog. They are also very versatile with the range though and aren't exclusive to just that as they are capable of making all types of songs.
I can't with this dude. He has got to be one of the worst in excessive pausing. He literally paused the video like...hell I can't even count that high. The song had not even started and he already paused. I'm not kidding. The song had not even hit the second note and he paused to speculate on the whole Alian theme in their videos, Its not that hard to figure out my friend.
