The haters can't accept that it's possible for a group of Japanese girls to be so authentic with their hip hop and R&B, but you said it yourself, they're students of the game. They grew up listening to the famous black artists and were inspired by them, so when they dress and rap the way they do, it's legit. Hip hop culture may have been founded by black American artists, but it belongs to the world now, and XG always pays respect to their predecessors.

They're surprisingly getting hate because some people feel like they are appropriating black culture (Cocona will wear her hair braided sometimes and Jurin had her hair semi-twisted in pigtails at a recent concert) and that they use slang/language associated with black culture. All of it is beyond stupid and people just want something to be upset about and I'm black. They have respect for the culture and grew up on our music. The reason members of XG wanted to be artists was because of that. They're black rappers that are people's favorites that pretend to be something they are not (Hood, Gangsta image)and sell records all the time but yet we never call that out lol.

Yes, XG has haters. Cause they're built different and trying to break "idol" stereotypes. At first it was some korean haters cause they didn't like the fact that XG was based and promoting in korea. The hate was so bad. I mean, Simon is half korean, half japanese. And as someone living in a multi-cultural society, I don't see anything wrong with that but some koreans are still very closed-off and selective on who they welcome to their turf. Some people were even racist towards the girls for no reason. But I love how Simon (their main producer) keeps pushing boundaries and is experimental with the girls. All their songs are different. Even their XG TAPEs are different. They're doing things their own way.

They get hate because some people feel like they are appropriating black culture. Yet they grew up listening to Lauryn Hill, TLC, Destiny's Child, Faith Evans, Keyshia Cole, Kehlani, Mary J Blige, Missy Elliott, etc. Then they get hate from Koreans because they are Japanese. Yes they are built different from normal K-Pop groups.

The haters mostly korean 😂, cause all other countries support XG, first, they mad abt "global group", and then they mad when xg did the interview and tell us that their idols are mostly from western artist (no korean 😂), and recently they bring issue about xg style "the CA" especially the jurin n cocona hair.. 😂😂, ridiculous.

XG is the first girl group out there, that are not Idols to me. Even though they were trained in they way K-pop idol format were trained, but their approach has been different. XG members were more cultivated and nourished with their talent, taste and their style preference which is obviously hip hop and RnB. Jakops who has been behind this had another vision, the vision we as ALPHAZ are grateful for. XG are all artists rather than idols. XG is culture 💯🙌

The industry is scared of XG because they are locked and loaded heavy hitters ! They don’t fake the funk and ever individual member is ready for battle !!!! The talent is ridiculous! They have some haters in South Korea and now here. Knetz hating on them cause they are a Japanese group promoting in Korea. And the hate here is cause some people think they are “cultural appropriating” a culture. Their will always be haters, the good thing is that’s a very small number. They have more love from real fans and new fans alike.

Yep, XG got haters on haters on haters. It's some talking about how they act too black. A lot of Koreans got beef because they don't consider them Kpop and something about an issue with Japanese artists in Kpop groups. XG keeps being better, while the haters keep being bitter.

The same haters who shout ca at cocona over her braids are the same ones who say “be easy on ahyeon because she’s only 16” 😂for context, ahyeon was caught saying the n word thrice and rather comfortably. Idk if their agenda is real concern or they just like putting down xg! also during their first few music shows, rival groups would buy the tickets dedicated for xg’s fans and nobody would cheer for them when they performed 😔

I like XG a lot. They are good at their craft, you can tell they enjoy it. I think the people are just hating because they are so good and they need to put them down for their groups to do better. There is enough room out there for everyone, they just need to bring their A game too. I’m from the US and I miss this type of music with real bars. They are killing it and making it look easy. If you don’t like them then move on. They have done nothing wrong to deserve all this hate. XG has done everything they said from the beginning. Keeping you on your tippy toes. Period.

Blackpink and Babymonster are probably XG's main competition. Then there's groups like Fifty Fifty, Twice, Newjeans, , Le Sserafim, Aespa. Though if you ask me none of them have the Rap Line or the dance style to the perfection of XG whom is always in sync Live or MV. Not to mention Juria and Chisa's amazing vocals, however XG has given props and a shout out to Blackpink, Newjeans, and Twice.

I think the K Pop industry is coping with the idea that, while kpop is still palatable for the west, it’s still pretty niche in the US and reserved for “stans” I think seeing XG be palatable to the mainstream western audiences intimidates them and is a wake up call maybe? Idk speculation

Thanks for reacting to XG. This was a dope reaction. XG is getting hate from the stans of other groups and some of the diehard KPOP enthusiasts because like what you said they didn't follow the cookie cutter approach. Trained & promoting in Korea but sang in English. That was one. Second was them being labeled as appropriating the Black Culture - but I'm happy to see lots of comments here defending them. As you said, they are students of the game. They grew with this music. They might be labeled as idols, but they are full artists.

So from what I’m told (second hand knowledge) South Koreans are very unaccepting of other cultures that come in to their country. So they don’t accept XG because they’re Japanese, some K-POP idols also don’t seem to like them. And lastly there’s a small but loud group of AA’s that don’t like them because they say that XG is using their words and style. But I just know XG is the truth! They are amazing!

I didn’t see other people talking bout it but they also received cus people thought they are ‘using’ training/marketing of the kpop industry to push Japanese artists doing English music. The (ex?) president of their parent company Avex had an interview that was badly mistranslated saying that he was using the kpop industry to make xg more popular /use their training style for xg. Lots of Korean knets take offense especially with the nationalism between the two countries sometimes, but honestly dumb because their exec producer jakops is half Korean half Japanese and came from the kpop industry as an idol

idk about haters but i think bc they're all japanese they're kinda a hard sell for the domestic korean audience who are used to a strict standard for idol singers. like when they talked about being criticized for acting too "kiyowo" or too cute when they have a hip hop concept they get flack, but they also get flack for being a all japanese group who sing in english period.. i think that's what they meant about breaking idol stereotypes?? like that they are doing their own thing even if kpop idols are supposed to be or act one certain way.

Korean showbiz does not really like them, because XG are all Japanese but the company chooses to let them start in Korea, they feel like they are being taken advantage and they don't like it. Mainstream Korean people can accept a group that has some members from out of the country, but when a group does not have a single Korean member also the song is all or 90% English? Korean are mostly not interested or some of them even hate it.

I'm not trying to start a war or anything but you said that you have barely gotten into the KPOP but want to. So, I'm more suggesting this for your education. BLACKPINK - ‘Shut Down’ M/V. BABYMONSTER - 'DREAM' (PRE-DEBUT SONG). Keep in mind that Blackpink has been around for 6 years and Babymonster is newer than XG. Both of them are under the YG label which is bigger and more well known/established than XG's label XGALX.
