Coco is god level. You tell by how she can switch her flow to make words rhyme. There was an interview with eminem where he was rhyming with the word orange. Only way is to switch the sound and flow of words.

I really like the way XG teases their fandom by continuing to increase the adrenaline starting from Harvey's rap as the opening and getting hotter until the final boss Jurin. They are just warming up before releasing their comeback Woke Up in May where all the members will rap, this is crazy.

She sounds like a gift but XG made me rethink my entire perspective of kpop rapping, everyone sounds so weak next to them, everyone, no exception, even the names you're thinking about right now. That's the curse, can't enjoy kpop rapping as much as I did before XG debuted. They set the bar way too high.

The whole verse was a Jay-Z scheme. Blueprint was a Jay-Z album too, and Show and Prove was a song he did with Big Daddy Kane, plus there are other little references that I didn't mention. Sheesh!. Whoever the writer is does research.

I’m a huge fan of XG especially Cocona. I expect there are people who are suspicious of them as rappers as their background is not so much from the streets but somewhat manufactured as K-pop is in general. I’m not downing that avenue! I’ve seen how hard these kids work and I can’t fault them for what they do, especially if they are as amazing as XG is. That being said, I think the problem came in with the hair and the "blaccent" that they’d use at times. I’m not sure how I feel about the hair since I personally don’t think we can gatekeep hairstyles, yet I understand where some people are coming from with their perspectives. But the blaccent can be a bit off putting depending on how it’s used. All that said, I love Cocona and I liked this mixtape 🔥
I’m black and I’m not critical on the “blaccent” as others. When you grow up listening to certain artists and are influenced it will start to show in your bars a bit. Given that English is their 3rd language (besides Maya), they don’t have much reference to pull from so they will somewhat mimic the artists they love at times in cadence. They never pretend to be street or gangster in lyrics. They rap about their own experiences which is what you are supposed to do as an artist regardless of background. I’m sure as their English improves they will develop their own unique voices. Coco already has a deep voice in any language she speaks, Maya’s tone is pretty much the same, and Harvey’s is a soft tone in all languages
I think it’s so incredible the rap line can flow like crazy when English is not their language (I think maya is fluent the rest are between conversational and fluent right?). Imagine the raw talent and hard work for that to happen. XG ladies are impressive as hell. Literally once in a century girl group
