Xi Warns of Challenges as China Marks 75 Years of Communist Rule

As China marks 75 years since the founding of the People's Republic, President Xi Jinping urged caution in the face of "potential dangers" and "rainy days" ahead. Those were his first public comments since Beijing launched its unprecedented stimulus package. Josef Gregory Mahoney, professor of politics and international relations at East China Normal University, says Xi's messaging is an attempt to temper people's expectations despite the stimulus-fueled optimism.

I still dont understand why Taiwan belongs to china? Can someone please explain? So the qing dynasty colonized taiwan in 1683. And the dutch were there first well before china in 1624…. Why does Taiwan belong to china again? Even the spanish preceded china’s colonization. Just say you want their strategic position and their microchips 🙄

Because it was there before the Japanese took it until the Japanese gave it back. Then they had a civil war and china to this day still wants to reclaim it. So how difficult is that to understand?

the Communist party only had 3 hundred year goals when it took control. Ensure national security, achieve middle class income and unify the Chinese people. They have passed with flying colours, by any measures, with the exception of Taiwan. Hence, the chance of a Taiwan military takeover in the next 25 years is guaranteed.
