When I flew from Manila back to Europe I used Xiamen Airlines with a stop over in Xiamen city. As I had a lengthy layover. In this video you can see the whole departue procedure from leaving the taxi to the gate with a quick look into the lounge. The only smoking room inside the airport I have see is at the end of the video.

There isn't much English spoken, but Xiamen is one of the most friendly airports in the world and everyone working there seems to be particularly helpful and ready to keep an eye out for foreigners who may not understand announcements. I was enormously impressed by Xiamen Airport. I had four hours between my arrival from Amsterdam on a XiamenAir international flight and my departure on an internal XiamenAir flight, but I was through immigration and collected my boarding card for the internal flight and sitting at the departure gate within an hour. Full marks to Xiamen. Much more pleasant airport than Beijing Capital International Airport or Guangzhou or Kunming. In fact, much better than almost any airport I've ever passed through, other than Changi.

transferred at this airport once. never had so many stamps on my boarding pass. amazing.

Stamps and checks. like so many. I dont even know what they all checked. But you had to follow the rules very closely.

I was there this May/June: Nothing has changed. It is still the same as in my videos. I have two for the arrival process. It might be worth watching them both. And everything you see there is still the same as today. :)
