They do end up together, this is the logic of the drama. This is their love story. At the end of S1 she has already accepted him in her heart.

@@sa_manda I don’t know what delulu means. But the general framework of Chinese romances is that the sad genius prince with a traumatic past gets the smarty-pants girl in the end. There are few dramas i have seen that deviate from this storyline, Princes Agents comes to mind. But on the whole, I see LYF go that way. XL may die in battle, but he still has 8 lives to live and reincarnation is possible. XY had a love disappointment with TJ but I think it would be a mistake after the sea scene with XL to think that she’ll ever go back to a man who betrayed her twice and gave her up to another man. XY is growing up all the time along the story. She will become worthy of XL at some point, bridge the gap between them. People don’t seem to notice that when she meets XL she is still somewhat of a teenager. Not a mature adult at all.

@@Roxana-gu5zt oh my bad, delulu is a slang for delusional, well i think we're both delulu YaoLiu shipper here that's why i said it😅 anyway i really like your optimism🥺 i mean why couldn't i think of xiang liu having other lives left and might have different ending otherwise😁 but however i want to see the drama's ending change, i think it's far from possible. The chances are like 99%:1% , if they do deviate the story from the novel then i would commend them for doing such a great job. I've seen a comment somewhere saying she hated how some directors change the story but this time in LYF, she thinks the idea of changing the plot isn't so bad. Aaa couldn't agree more with her😁

XL is definitely the best man among the male lead here, he prepare a future for XY. But we all in the sinking ship… 😅 Don’t hurt yourself. She gonna ended up with jing. But it’s still worth to watch. I don’t think it’s in the drama, but XL has already said to XY “xiao yao, I can’t marry you. This body has been promised to a land” and she knew from the start He’ll gonna be die in a war. That’s why he drink those poison, just like XY blood change into a cure. XL’s blood is built into poison for his enemies at war, he plan his death long before he met XY. That’s why they’re afraid falling in love with each other. But they did…. Those 37 years they spend underwater are worth it. I consider XL is her first husband. He’s there every night caressing and holding her to sleep, his heartbeat are always begging her to life, taking her for swimming and traveling so she won’t get bored. The sea was their secret adventure land and the seashell is their home . But waking up, it’s when reality strikes again. The ending would be XL secret letter for XY before his death, and it was beautiful… his love are the greatest among these 4 man

Yes...I cried out so loud watching that. It's like he's letting her go and choose his own path. It makes me realise more that he's destined to be all alone by himself.

@@Ish.j09 Xiang Liu's just made me a masochist but his the kind of pain I'd be happy to inflect. Lol talk about obsessed. Seriously though, his scenes of just pure sadness, longing and pain always makes my eyes watery. He has so much love to give but too honorable for his own good. His expression of love and affection is both exciting and heart breaking because you know that he will have that impeccable restraint to ever go full on "I love you" but his eyes would always betray him mirroring what his heart truly feels.

He will always choose to be righteous and protect. The scenes where he cherishes and enjoys little moments with XY. He has so much love that the bug got stuck, kidding. Yes, too honorable and righteous amongst the three. He loves her the most that he doesn't want her to end with him.

His self control and awareness always impresses me but the undeniable fact that their fate as star crossed lovers is heart breaking and tragic especially with Xiang Liu's ever so steadfast love and enigmaticly strong character if not for the story itself he is the epitomy of A Male Lead.

@@pumpkinpatch5609 I'm sorry for reading it incorrectly. I feel the same I describe it as a pain that I will always want to re-read even if it will make me in pain HAHAHA. I keep hurting myself because of their story but yes they are star crossed lovers. Their love is that kind of love that aches but understands. XL's story is that tragic yet you can't help but understand his reasoning and find logic in it. Man, I feel like his character is the most righteous, sensitive and steadfast. I do believe that XL's character must have been shape first tho before the others. It really sucks that he is the authors favorite because he was tortured and suffered the most till the end. The author made him a sacrificial lamb for XY's story. 🤣

I wish I hadn't read this. I was only continuing because I thought she might realize he was the only one who truly loved her.. I wish tho that he would of just admitted it instead of every time he could of he ( insecurly) doesn't. They would have fallen in love ages ago. The best love story comes from tribulations not obsession like the other men. They wanted only to get their way but he was the only one who cared if she was hurting, got joy only if she was happy. Yo bad they ruined a good bad but found out he was actually good and fell in love on love only for her to end up with self absorbed obsessive losers.

He is protecting her from her fear of losing herself in her love for him. Remember that scene on the beach where she tells him falling in love with him is a fate worse than death. I didn't understand then, but i think that is why he acts like he does.

Yes, he also knew the story of her parents. XY told him that she doesn't want to end like her parents so she is also suppressing herself but XL did much more to ensure that she will not end with him. He backed away x10 more and always told her that their relationship had been transactional so XY would never fall for him deeper than she already is. XY has always wanted to spend her life with him yet she hides it to the deepest part of her heart and soul and never dares to say it. XL made way and pushed her to Jing. Yet XL is hurting the most T.T The bug is killing him yet XY thought it was never been a big deal because she thought she was never in pain LOL. What she didn't know was that XL could control his heartbeat and ensure that she didn't suffer. It will be just him T.T Also, even her grandfather tells her that Jing is the better option too that's why. You see, XL's is such a logical character. You can help but understand his reasons. And they are all valid. :(

@@MaryGreenleaf The journey to her happy ending is what makes it tragic honestly. It was XL giving everything he has, he owes, his sole heart and sole power for his love to her. What I really like about XL the most is the fact that he is very logical and righteous character EVER. I'm honestly so done reading and watching self-sacrificing characters in K-dramas or in books (so I thought I should drop the book) but with XL is such a deep character like there's always logic behind his decisions and the fact that he always choose the right things and best things even it means he will be all in his own is a stand out for me. For me it takes a pure heart to do that.
