Miguel Lopez de Legaspi worked in New Spain before colonizing the Philippines. The Spaniards subjugated Mexico through a divide and conquer rule: native tribes fought among one another. Legaspi seemed to use the same strategy to colonize the country.
"The 'Elder'-this is what he's called. During the Spanish era, his birthday was celebrated in a part of Manila. His birthday falls on June 12, the same day as Independence Day. It's sad because when we were colonized by the British Empire, his remains were taken along with those of other Filipino leaders. I'm sure they've been auctioned off in the underground market. Perhaps his remains were stolen because he was hiding a secret. Maybe he had an amulet(secret treasures) hidden with him."
