I can't remember the channel for sure (jerryrigs or Markus (Marcus?)). They showed a footage from the hudson river of NY and then said it was from a 5 YO Samsung note. That was 1 or 2 years ago which adds up to 7 years maybe. When people walk by beautiful landscape just for an insta picture during their holiday and don't take a minute to stfu and appreciate, it makes me wonder...
Thanks so much for the chapters btw, I love your channel. I have a S21 ultra US version for the processor (in europe) and I aimed right this time. 10x optical zoom paid 760€ a year late and brand new. I still have a flagship nowadays.
@@Techtabletsyou are one of the best, every time i need to watch a review on something and you have one for said product, i have to watch yours. Big RU-vidrs are big because they have mainstream content, access to exclusive devices because they ignore flaws. You dont shy from calling it how it is and trash bad devices.
@@Techtablets I subbed your channel with the ring icon on but some other big tech channels I mostly watch some random video of them without sub. Please keep up the good work I strongly believe that you'll get there someday. Cheers!
Now that's what I call a real in depth full review. Seems like vivo X100 Pro is the better deal than the Xiaomi 14 Ultra if you're into smartphone photography. vivo's flagship is sooooo underated 😅
As always I really Really appreciate the fact you show the brightness level against the competition and in daylight, I feel loads of reviewers just say what the marketing BS is then after bring the phone home you realise it's not as bright as advertised etc Speakers Brightness Feel of the phone in the hand ( compared to others ) Haptics Software These are the day to day important factors most dont take when choosing a phone! Thanks @Techtablets :)
Honestly if the X100 pro is still mogging the competition, I can't imagine the kind of results we'll be getting with the X100 Pro Plus/ Ultra, especially with that rumoured 200 MP telephoto
Pre-ordered 14 Ultra and currently waiting for delivery. Looks like UK is getting the best deal. Here in Thailand, I'm getting Free Photography kit, 120W charger and 24 months full warranty. And 1 free screen replacement within 6 month (I think we all get this globally).
I can appreciate how stabilized those zoom cameras are on those Chinese brand phones. This is the reason why I still do miss Huawei innovations. Thank you for filming this video. I might say the Vivo100Pro is better for photos and the Xiaomi a bit more better in videos.
Exactly it does, it's just like beta camera software right now. I don't have the patience to wait for 5 updates and 5 months for them to fix everything.
Love your videos, especially the comparisons! Glad I bought the vivo a few weeks ago. Really pleased with the photos I'm getting from it. I find myself using the 10x zoom a lot and that really delivers. Incredible considering that fits in your pocket
Ive bought the 14 ultra global from the uk site with a free mi pad 6 and photography kit. Got it for 750 as im trading my 12s ultra for £500. I believe that xiaomis camera set up is definitely more capable, however it requires more tinkering, vivos/oppos offerings are bery much geared towars thr average social media user i think, not to say that xiaomis isnt tho, theyll release some updates for it for sure
Man I really love your channel for a while now. By far the most comprehensive reviewer out there. Just wanted to request more PC stuff from you if you can :)
@@Techtablets I apologize for requesting anything! I can tell you work very hard, and it doesn't go unnoticed. I appreciate you getting back to me, thank you.
Some suggestions for future comparison video: 1. change picture quality from High to Super. 2. turn on smart noise reduction on windy days. 3.test the Ultra Zoom feature (AI telephoto) in the daytime and above 30X zoom level, otherwise it wouldn't enable. 4. try UltraRAW format, will offer a surprise. 5. there's a Sunlight mode to boost the brightness after you turn off auto brightness.
Thanks for the tips! Point 3. I did test over 30x and still very poor. Points 1,2 & 4. I cover the phones default settings in camera and auto for comparisons otherwise it's unfair if I tweaked one better than the other right?. 5. One shot is manual max brightness and sunlight mode on. Still no 3000 nits. Still duller than the iPhone and Galaxy S24U.
You have no idea what you're talking about! I don't know what problems you will have with Xiaomi, but the 14 ultra is one of the 3 best phones that exist right now in quality of video and photography cameras. I can say this categorically because I have tested the vivo x100 pro, the OPPO find X7 ultra, the iPhone 15 pro Max and the oneplus 12. For me it would be the second or third best phone of these... Any of them are excellent and it is absurd to want to say that this phone is below the others. I suppose you have some problem with Xiaomi and have wanted to discredit Xiaomi's excellent work. Remember that Xiaomi still has no updates and vivo has already had 4 or 5 with which they continued to improve the cameras. Of all of them I would stay with OPPO find X7 ultra or Xiaomi 14 ultra.
Another awesome video Chris. I'd absolutely love to see you compare it to the oppo find x7 ultra and the vivo x100 pro but understand if you dont. Be good to see your full review anyway
Very good video bro u don't sellout like others saying it's the best and kills the S24 and iphones. Now pls pixel 8 pro vs x100 pro, find x7 ultra and S24 ultra with new updates.
The Xiaomi has three major imaging drawbacks vs the Vivo I can see: 1. lenses are not as good - the Xiaomi is using some plastic lens elements it seems, so even though faster they are not as precise as the zeiss glass lenses 2. colour science and exposure in Zeiss is debatably more pleasing to most people 3. V3 chipset really leverages computation power in image processing. Vivo are treading a fine line in the sharpening, but they arguably get it right
I wholeheartedly agree 💯 with your insights that's exactly what I've been thinking. Zeiss is think is overall more pleasing than Leica which I find can be a bit too moody and contrasty in some scenarios. White balance is also out the window with some of the shots.
Great review, still awaiting arrival of the Global 14 Ultra here in the UK, comes with camera kit and a Xiaomi iPad type thingy to soften the blow of the cost...glad to hear haptics are good, I thought they are really weak on my 13 Ultra
That was a pretty thorough and informative review. I especially line how you never give in to the hype. 👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻💪🏻 Will you be reviewing the "Redmi K70 Ultra" when it comes out? Also, as a personal question: which phones do you see as worthy alternatives to the "Xiaomi 13T" in its price/camera/performance balance?
Your videos are about point & shoot and that's ok. People who use point and shoot still take multiple photos to capture the moment in the best way possible. For things like the zoom shot, it's difficult to believe that was the best photo from a batch. It would add more credibility to your videos in general to show a couple of shots for each camera. The reward-to-work ratio here seems like a win-win too. A couple of extra seconds to snap a few shots on each location / setting, maybe an extra 10 minutes editing to include them in the video with the result being a video that feels more complete and trustworthy. Other youtubes have indeed achieved better results than you show with the 14U in general. Maybe they're fanboys tryharding, maybe they were paid by Xiaomi, impossible to know. All you can do is continue to improve your own content and give your videos as authentic a feeling as possible.
I feel this camera review contradicts every other camera review I've read / watched of this phone... Something's off 😅 Maybe because its not the global variant and has outdated software
27:58 I was half expecting a gun he he "this is my argument." Joke aside this is a very useful walkthrough because you are really paying attention to detail, not in the pixel peeping way but in the photographic sense. The photographs from the Vivo indeed look with a different ("better" or "worse" in most cases is subjective) judgement in the software, one I like, although I could be biased because I always tried to have their lenses since they were Carl Zeiss.
Vivo x100 Pro's output from its Auto/Photo/Default mode or however we call it, is already straight up social media quality. On the other hand, Xiaomi does little post processing especially with its contrast and exposure, as we usually see with its photos being over exposed. I wish we could see how their Pro Mode performs. I was wondering if we get to see the same results of we put the same values on each phone. Nonetheless, both phone wins it for me. Great review as always!
Xiaomi's auto mode is overexposing almost everything you need to make it EV -0.3 or -0.7 even. Even in Pro mode focus being so narrow can be an issue, video EIS needs work and then the zoom camera video is shockingly bad, looks like 1440p upscaled the 4k and 8k.
@@Techtablets I got a reply! 😱 I agree, as most of the time or everytime Xiaomi has that overexposed output. Hopefully, it gets fixed overtime since this new Sony LYT-900 sensor of 14 ultra has a lot of potential.
I got my S24Ultra for £739 with a trade in deal. I sold the free Watch 6 for £150. So £589. Xiaomi 14 Ultra is £1299 but they giving me £838 for the S24 Ultra. What do you advise??
The camera quality can possibly be improved with further updates but what I'm worried about is the screen brightness. It should be brighter than both the iPhone and Samsung but it doesn't seem to be the case
A really nice option to make it a point n shoot camera with the hardware add on. However, Xiaomi will have to do quite some software updates to equal vivo X100pro. Xiaomi’s 1” camera sensor might be a tad newer version but vivo counters with incredible software in its dedicated V3 chip and Zeiss lens coating.
It's a camera attached to a phone 😅😅😅 i really can't stand these huge round camera modules, so ugly compared to something like Galaxy S23 Ultra. If that glass gets broken then replacement isn't going to be easy.
Was disappointed with my 12s Ultra because the software experience wasn't ideal for my use and ended up with a Samsung S23 as my everyday phone. Loved the photography from it though. Video was very hit and miss BUT I have learnt to use the Pro/manual mode for video instead of auto and I love it now. Now the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has come out in the UK with none of the quirks in the Chinese OS and even better cameras, I'm upgrading it thanks to the deal on their website. £500 cash trade-in deal for the phone And I get the photography kit and Xiaomi Pad 6 too. Damn good deal, couldn't resist, now my bank balance will suffer 😅
I think it's the combination of the Chinese ROM plus early Camera firmware. Been using Xiaomi phones for almost a decade now and these few years it's clear that they tend to focus on improving their camera performance with each update. My xiaomi 13 now takes great photos compared to its early camera software. Maybe you can do a comparison video with later software updates. By the way, The global version of the xiaomi 14 seems to be more interesting than the ultra. I think it will be worth the review.
I wish someone would do a review of settings, like wallpapers, charge animation, finger print animation, etc, i guess I'll get the phone before that happens
Hope it was helpful, beware the reviews that got it free from Xiaomi it will be nothing but praise or they loose future free units like I did for being honest.
In landscapes the clouds look artificial, actually the entire sky looks like it had been pasted in. Then there is a strange white fringe around the trees on some shots. I find that the difference to the Yivo is stark, not small.
Thank you for your great review as always, Chris. Keep up the awesome work. Maybe after couple of update the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be on par with Vivo which received a lot of updates after it's release. But we will see.
Yeah, I feel like other companies have most of their homework done before their releases while Xiaomi is always promising to fix things - either software bugs (thank god these are pretty uncommon now days) or photo and video quality. The price in Europe is ridiculous in my opinion for the package we get. The curved glass is a deal breaker for me as well. Maybe I will change my opinion after someone make couple of drop tests. Thank you once again, Chris, for the awesome review!
Still Confused between s24 ultra and 14 ultra. In flagship category, performance is always there but camera is one of my needs to get a new phone. Looking forward to your camera comparison.
Thank you for this video. So much quality and hardwork you put in. I really want the Xiaomi 14 Ultra to be better than the Vivo x100 pro but really it is not. I think I'll go for Vivo.
I was in the same boat I wanted it to be better I had high hopes based off the hype of it and then after using it now 2 days in disappointing it needs a lot of work but has huge promise. Right now the X100 Pro is better it's cameras and almost everything else.
You mentioned about the weight difference, I am not sure where you saw the 220g, I think you are talking about the global version (219.8g). However, your version, as you said yourself, is the Chinese one, which has a bigger battery, so I can imagine that the extra 300mA on the battery will be why yours is heavier.
Great review, after watching this review of their best phone the OnePlus 12 seems really a flagship killer and I'm more certain than ever to go for it instead of Xiaomi or any other brand
I respect Xiaomi for innovating with the camera kit, but everything else is disappointing, especially the price. I got the vivo x100 pro, last week really enjoying it. I heard the ultra version has been delayed, so this will probably be king for a while longer. Which is funny because it's a 2023 phone haha.
I know it may maybe asking too much, but you could make some pro-mode versions of camera reviews. Then, we could see the camera differences beyond the usual "point and shoot" when compared to other ones. For Xiaomi, especially, I think the pro camera is better than the Samsung or iPhone on getting details and everything else
I'm quite interested in the curved screen corners instead of just the sides, while previously people are concerned with only two parts, it could be eight now, at least four (with the top, but probably more with the bottom). How do you find that one? Also, got any Xiaomi tablet? Can you confirm director mode work with them? Because my in Chinese 13 Pro, it can't with my Global Pad 6. It would help a lot for making content because the tablet can be a nice viewfinder while recording using the back camera. Last but not least, why didn't you test the smart noise reduction feature in the camera?
Hi, thank you for this review! Can I ask you - did you hear some weird buzzing sound in the phone that you used for the review like there is something broken or detached in the camera? I got the blue chinese version and I can hear it.
Yes it's the lens focusing I think or OIS moving about and a bug I have no data working 5G or 4G even if enable it will stop working. Have you experienced this issue? Turning on flight mode and off again fixes it but it's not good.
@@Techtablets no one is intrested in iphone anymore. Better do oneplus 12, vivo x100 pro and find x7 ultra. Best phones in 2024. And maybe Samsung ultra, but it is the same as older 23 model
@@Giorgiio69took your comments serious until you mentioned oneplus 12. that thing is nowhere near the top with the other giants in the camera department.
very very very nice video overall, you went in depth for everything, thank you would really love to see a comparison of those chinese phone, magic 6 pro vs 14 ultra vs x100 pro maybe ? or against oneplus 12 (since x100 pro is, we know it, the best overall lol)
Hii sir. I am using Oneplus open right now, but not very happy with the saturated colour and dismal video camera. Which one i should go for? Vivo x100 pro or Xiaomi 14 ultra? I am a makeup artist, and i need detailed pictures.
Seems it is almost as expensive as S24 Ultra in some markets. Not sure how I feel about that, coming from xiaomi. Still missed the day they actually undercut the competition by pricing their phone 50% lower. At least they are still trying to innovate
Am I understanding correctly that recording calls is possible? Is it also possible on Vivo phones? After reading your review, I'm torn between buying Vivo or Xiaomi. I care about photo and video quality.
@@Techtabletsthank you for your reply. Vivo is hard to beat but not easy to obtain a global version which is important to me. Aside from the Vivo which would you recommend? Many thanks..
Great review, from the reviews ive seen the 24 ultra needs some optimizations for the camera or maybe the sensor isnt as good as the old Sony one. I thought that the oppo would sureltñy beat out the x100 pro, that didnt work out, the 14 ultra hasnt managed it either. The vivo x100 still the 👑
Just noticed that you showed us the brightness of the display with a blur wallpaper on the Xiaomi phone but colourful ones on the other 2 phones, very interesting 😂 But when you had the music test done you had a colourful one and it was popping...🤔
Yes because Samsung paid me to do that. Actually it's the stock wallpaper and it would make no difference if it really was 3000nits it should kill the other two phones right? Music test I get whatever is in the new list of songs haha you think to much into stuff, typical fanboys looking for so many excuses ...
Good move! And now the X7 Ultra has those camera updates it's even better. But same I can't wait for the X100 Ultra it should be the king of phone cameras for 2024 I just hope they focus on video performance.
@@Techtablets Great, so I'll wait, I was looking to get the 14 Ultra because I like white phones with vegan leather but hopefully the Vivo has a white version
Currently using the mi 14, HyperOS i feel really sucks. Don't really like HyperOS by default you cannot change the default apps to the one you need, when using nova launcher it will disable system gesture making it not usable. So far this are my complains.
Great walkthrough. Especially useful to see the camera kit features. For now I decided not to get that as the older camera kit for the 13 Ultra still works with the 14 Ultra. Only thing that could convince me if it has USB-C passthrough like external mics or external ssds working with it. But I think it only passes through power or does it also allow other devices to pass through? Also the AI Zoom option in the first couple of hours I have the device in rainy darkish conditions did not work. Just noticed that this kicked in after it stopped raining and got a bit brighter. Did you notice that as well? How well does the 30x AI improved zoom look like? Also in your video sample it looked like cropped in from 3.2 not switching to the 5x tele lense As for battery life my first impression is basically the same as 13 Ultra. Sadly nowhere close to the Magic 6 Pro or Nubia Z60 Ultra.
Thank you for the videos. What would you do, go for Vivo X100 pro or hope Xiaomi will fix all software problems with the cameras? I see so much potential in Xioami 14 Ultra, but Vivo pictures are amazing.
There is always massive hype in all these ultra camera phones but in reality none of them are massively better than others. It's kind of hits and misses for them all. I think it's an improvement though over the 13 ultra especially the design and removing the hump. 4k on the front camera too. Not massive upgrades though but I guess there's not much more companies can upgrade at this stage
@@Techtabletsthe Xiaomi 13U with MotionCam usage can easily churn out 4K60fps RAW video or Log at 30-60fps. Furthermore, with root, it can also output 8K 30fps RAW, and easily blast the new 14U If you want to see if it's proper 4K and make sure it's not being upscaled, try MC's DirectLog and compare it vs stock app. These devices are just not tuned well tbh
Hi sir, I wanna ask what phone is good for both gaming and camera? (I'm heavy on both side) I think on taking the Xiaomi 14 Ultra but after seeing this video I kind of second guessing myself, I hope you and the people in the comment section could help me ( I want to use as a primary phone and for long term )
I am a professional photographer. If you are a photography enthusiast or photographer, I strongly recommend 14u. The reason is that this tester is a digital blogger, not a photographer. His basic design of 14u is a belt-tethered camera. Knowing nothing about phone-powered cameras, what photographer would use the automatic mode of the phone's algorithm to take jpg photos? If you have played with a SLR, you should know that as a photographer it is impossible to shoot creations in jpg format. This is the essence of 14u. It supports 16-bit color ultraraw mode and up to 14 stops of raw exposure bracketing, and supports mobile phones. It is similar to the workflow of lightroom on the computer, but this tester knows nothing about it and has not even compared the raw and ultraraw modes of 14u and vivo. I can tell you my personal test results, both in terms of resolution and dynamics. In terms of range, the 14u ultraraw beats the vivo. It is not on the same level at all. It can even be compared with the sonya7m3 mirrorless camera. Of course, this is not the fault of the tester, because the tester is not a photographer, but a digital blogger. It is very common for the lack of professional knowledge to lead to wrong opinions. The Er 14u is designed from the perspective of camera users. .
As a photographer, I think the key to Xiaomi 14ultra defeating vivo lies in the idea. Xiaomi 14ultra provides 4 focal lengths of dual telephoto macro coverage, covering basically all focal lengths. Vivo does not have the color of Xiaomi 14’s 4 focal lengths. The consistency and white balance are better than vivo. Xiaomi provides an amazing 16-bit color ultraraw mode on lyt900. As far as I know, this is to use multiple raw formats for exposure bracketing, providing extremely high-quality photos and It has great light tolerance, can record more details of highlights and shadows, and supports lightroom workflow on mobile phones and PCs. This time 14ultra also provides ev adjustment buttons, which is very useful. 14ultra provides log on videos. mode, and supports the application of 709 restoration lut monitoring during preview shooting, so I personally think that the 14u mobile phone is a lightweight mobile phone choice for photographers when traveling. It is a camera with mobile phone functions, while vivo is just a mobile phone toy. All these experiences are what I got from the Chinese version of 14u.
@@Kenkiller1-2000 I see, seems like it's a good decision to pre-order it. I see that in many comparison the Vivo relies to much on the A.I compared to Xiaomi and those variable setting on Xiaomi is a smart move for sure. I will surely give it a try after getting my hand on it, thank you very much. (Side note) I do use some professional camera (while not always but I understand what you mean, every settings has their own characteristic hence every result is differ from one another. I have 11t pro and it never disappoint me.
If you have 13 Ultra you don´t need 14 Ultra because when talking about cameras they are almost the same :). No difference at all maybe a little bit better camera software and sharpening.
Since I love the range of tech you re reviewing and the seemingly unbiased opinion on every single piece of it, I would like to ask your inisight! Unfortunately noone has reviewed the global version of the 14 ultra yet. The preorder period is almost finishing and the free bundle that is being offered seems a nice catch! I wanna go to a phone that has good zoom capabilities. Since I don't wanna go to chinese roms ( for the few things they are missing ), where should i turn ? get the xiaomi 14 ultra with feedback just from the chinese version ? go the s24 ultra ( last samsung i had was the SIII ) jump for the first time to the iOS ship ? ( hate the lack of UI customization, no app drawer and no workarounds on some things ) or whatelse ? things with global versions on VIVO phones and OPPO are still unclear
Global version is under embargo because Xiaomi knows the software needs a lot of work it's to give them time for fixing up the camera performance. I recommend the X100 Pro global version if you can for the best zoom photo and video at 4.3x. Mines the Chinese version so the global should be better I assume. The S24U is much better now the cameras but the X100 Pro is better at stills iPhones still have the smoothest and best-looking main camera and ultra video. However, not zoom video.
Also the 14 Ultra pre-orders will not ship anywhere until March 15 to March 19. I'm expecting the internet will light up with reviews/images/details about then.
@@Techtablets wow thanks for the ultra fast response! where you would buy the global vivo from though !? I never had a dimensity powered phone before. Should i trust it ?!
@@richardb20 that's the least of the problem. I am just thinking that if I am going for the 14 ultra why not getting the grip as a gift as well. I wouldnt buy it alone and for sure it will help a lot for travel photography! in uk they are giving a mi pad 6 as well ! not bad. but if it's still not higher than the rest of competition why bother spend 1500 euros?
@@nomikism I understand, In the UK we did get a pretty good launch day deal (50GBP discount, free photography kit, free tablet. free screen replacement for 6 months). I bought it based on the marketing and specs and Leica badge, time will tell if I made a good choice. As others have mentioned, it will be great if Xiaomi tune the cameras better, if not, I can always sell it I guess.
Thanks for your amazing review. Do you know if the vivo x100 pro works our in sunlight taking lots of videos s pictures? I have rhe x80 pro and it's awful for overheating in warm weather or whenever i take multiple back to bavk videos. It freezes, crashes, and just stops taking videos or pictures. I literally feel the phone burning up in my hand. I want to buy the x100 pro but im scared ill have the same issue.
