Hi guys, can I ask you, if you has to choose between Xiaomi Pad 4, and Huawei M5 tablet 8.4 inch, which would choose? I have played with Huawei M5 here in Thailand, and it is very nice tablet, alltho LCD, colours and contrast are very much like AMOLED, display is great, 2560 x 1600 pixel, only Samsung AMOLED is comparable. Problem, I have not been able to play with Pad 4, it is just being released in Thailand, I can buy it, but in a sealed package, so no testing possible. Xiaomi is slightly cheaper. So question - has anybody compared Huawei and Xiaomi, and what would you buy, with your money? I really need advice, because I need to buy a tablet, and I can't find Xiaomi 4 to try out. Thank you, if you find time to respond! Greetings from Bangkok :)
I have zero problem with your accent mate, its easy to comprehend even without cc. In fact i have found a few less understandable UK and US reviewer especially if what they using is a potato microphone.
small correction. according to trading shenzen, the monitor can light up around 1200 nit of luminance value. so it is around 3.768 something Lux, not 500 lux. 500 lux would be equal to around 159 nit which will be dimmer than most panel on this earth. great review anyway!
Nowadays only the iPad run well in tablet , only Xiaomi still go for coming out with Android tablet nice move and snapdragon 660 is one of the best chip set in 2018. Good job xiaomi
Its a shame really, a lot of companies have stopped making tablets, and with mobile gaming getting better, tablets are certainly a great thing to have! I was excited to see this, just say shame it doesn't pack a sd835/845
If they were to release a pro SD835 (discouunted last year CPU) version with a fingerprint reader, GPS with a compass it would be great. Perfect PUBG tablet. But the size and portability I'll still prefer the Mi Max 3 once out I'm sure (If it get the SD710)
TechTablets.com I'm not a fan of Samsung however I've seen rumors flailing around that their next tablet has the 835! Bet it'll be over priced though :l
ikr I have a very hard time looking for good performance of 10"-13" android tablets... which is almost inexistent at this point without turning Windows Tablets into Android86/Remix/Phoenix
quite an irony the currently best android tablet producer now is the brand I hate most (in the smartphone category :)) And surprisingly not so overpriced. I'll take that option. Thanks!
Not sure how many people will see this but I bought one of these used on eBay last month. I flashed a port of LineageOS 21 onto it and it's running super smoothly. Everything I would normally do on a modern Android device works just fine and the 64-bit CPU means it won't have any compatibility issues for a long time unlike some older tablets I've tried that were severely limited in the kinds of apps they could run because of their 32-bit CPUs. The only complaints I have about it are that the speakers are not great and the screen is not very colour accurate. Other than that, this is a rather competent tablet for everyday tasks and is a good value if you can find one for around $100 or less.
Bought in 2019 and in late 2021 the battery expanded so much that the screen was coming off. That was a sure sign that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was yet rating a full charge.
Great review as always, im glad it doesnt disapoint. Looks like its going to be one of the best chinese tablets this year. Too bad it doesnt have GPS, other than that its almost perfect.
I don't understand what do you mean by "HDMI" but usb-c port has ability to transmit video if it has MHL technology on board. So it would have been nice to connect some compatible adapter to test. About GPS - it should be available on LTE version, as far as I know.
Didn't expect xiaomi put a sd660 in the tablet and make it this great for the price offered..I can say Xiaomi can just recycle this chipset till next year with android 9 or android X and just do more optimisation to make it better, please make it cheaper with more variants as well..just like what Xiaomi did with their sd625, it's even recycled from 2016 till now if im not mistaken 😁
Thanks for in the in depth review! So informative and unbiased! You always show the actual capabilities of a phone/tablet without any sugarcoating. You just lay it out there, man! Keep it up!
Okay, first of all, I was searching for a decent review of this tablet and I was expecting to jump into pieces of the video instead of watching it entirely. My bad, I watched the video entirely. I think it's the first review with a duration over 5 minutes I have watched entirely, incredible. I really loved how you explained things and showcased what is in my opinion, the most interesting parts. Now, tomorrow the 16th, is going to get a release the MiPad4 Plus, would you mind to do a comparison between these two tablets? How the screen looks and battery duration mostly due to that's what is getting improved I think.
Thank you for the video review Sean. Finally bought my first Chinese tablet based on TT's review, I've had it for over a month now. I went with Xiaomi because I wanted quality for my first Chinese tech product and I've not been disappointed.
As usual a very comprehensive review. Would have loved if you had some qualitative comparison with iPad, as that seems like the only alternative. For eg on GPS, compass, and widevine support..
Nice review Chris, kudos to xiaomi for working out on an affordable tab when the market is down in this segment , I also read a lot of books and considering buying it , just came here to check your channel for a review which you just uploaded. I also have a fire stick so hdmi out is not an issue for me ...
Top review as always mate, had been waiting for this one since I saw the announcement. Seems pretty solid, I do like the design, still not a huge MIUI fan but it seems like it has improved of late. Kind of rare these days to find a relatively low priced android tablet running the latest OS too, with good battery and no huge shortcomings. I do still have a minor issue with the fact that the screen is not 300PPI though, don't mind it being lower res than the earlier mipads but it should have at least hit 300PPI for a 2018 tablet. My question now is though will this be a better option for a tablet than the upcoming mi max 3, i have never liked a tablet as much as my original 7 inch Nexus tablet so the mi max 3 size seems like it could be a winner and because its a phone you get all the extras missing on this too.
Great review, but 2 things: 1. LTE version does have GPS 2. Treble and seamless update are 2 separate features, you should not mess them up. This tablet has treble support and no seamless update, but there are tons of phone outside do not have seamless update neither, so "this is a xiaomi thing" may not be a good comment.
Waiting for mi 8 explorer edition on your chanel.... And whats your thought on latest leaks and rumours of mi mix3 with full display and popup camera...... If these leaks comes out true then i m definetly sure that it will create a gorgeous looking device because mix series is best looking mobile device in the entire industry
I think it will sell really well if priced right (Less than the NEX S) The NEX S with it's pop up camera and that screen is a beautiful phone I think. If a little heavy and big. I'm keen to see what Xiaomi will do to compete with it and the Find X
And as for the mi 8 explorer edition, it's delayed and as each day passes I'm really losing interest. I think I will be saving my $$$ for another phone instead. It's too much like the Mi 8 anyway.
after all the xiaomi products that you review xiaomi should really give you a crapload of shares of stock when their IPO launches in the next few weeks. I thought about buying the mediapad m5
They should :) But then the could just send me the devices once launched so I don't have to buy them and spend thousands like the last 4 weeks. (Xiaomi are you reading this??)
Thanks for this but having 5 second saying that this product wont run Netflix or amazon prime in HD is horrible! This is such a important feature for consumer in North America and Europe...
@@sylviohache3467 what else your need to know about drm? he clearly showed the drm info and mentioned widevine l3 support, also just to point out, also just to mention, koreans, aussies, indians, middle-eastern, chinese, basically everyone care about drm info, thats the reason of it to exist in this review.
this is something i might consider for my kids tablet, still using the old nvidia shield tab from 4 years ago xd once again very great review! love your content
thanks for the review Chris, as I expected it looks much better than MiPad 3 in terms of performance. looks like i will sell my mipad3 and buy this one. i hope you can report back with full usage regarding battery life in twitter later. thanks again, great review with all details!
moblue 289 It just feels weird to not see those few corner pixels. I love rounded bezel corners but rounded screen corners make me feel like I'm losing a little bit of what I should be looking at. That makes no sense because nothing important is ever shown there but it's still annoying.
Thank you for another good review TechTablets.com. You didn't mention the Bluetooth 5.0. Have you tried this? I have been awaiting a good tablet for some time to send music to Bluetooth receivers and speakers so would love to hear from anyone who has used it with this tablet. A little frustration that it has no HDMI out. I see at seller sites that the LTE version does have gps. Hallelujah, that was going to be a deal-breaker for me! This is a buy for me but I can't see one in stock yet...
i owned this one few days ago.in general it's a good tablet, good screen, very good battery life, fast and powerful ,actually faster than my mi max 1.there 's only problem is that when i slow strolling in every apps i tried it slutters quite visible which is annoying sometimes, comparing to mi max.that 's weird, cause it got very good hardware/hopefully it's just the firmware bug.let's see xiaomi can fix this in the future update.
TechTablets.com definite respect for that on a tech channel, but if it was *necessary* I'm sure your fans wouldn't mind a few as long as they obviously not biased. Maybe not even tech related.
finally a tablet with more than a midrange GPU. my friend still has redmi note 3 pro with adreno 510 and still plays every game released today. this 512 is as good almost as a 430 adreno
I think I found my next tablet! I was thinking of getting a Huawei MediaPad M5, but then I found out it doesn't have a headphone jack. Glad to see that Xiaomi is challenging the mainstream market with a perfect tablet at such a low price!
Hassan Bakkali I like physical buttons too, but Android devices have had digital buttons for years. Physical buttons are just one of those things that pretty much no longer exist in the modern smartphone & tablet markets. While I do prefer physical buttons, digital ones are still very good, and they shouldn't have a negative impact on the user experience. Another thing is that this is down to opinion. It's likely that this tablet uses digital buttons because it's what the majority prefers. On top of that, physical buttons would increase the price of the tablet, so Xiaomi likely avoided them to keep costs down. If anything, it's a miracle that Xiaomi is able to charge so little for such an awesome and powerful tablet, so physical buttons really should be the least of your concerns.
Can we get a comparison between this and the Huawei Mediapad M5 8"? I know the M5 will definitely beat the mipad4 in terms of raw power and everuthing else but I just wanna know which is more worth my money? Thanks for the awesome uploads! 👍😁
This reminds me that I discovered your channel because I was searching for review for Mi Pad 2. BTW, Xiaomi will always stick with full HD display, won't they? I prefer Huawei Mediapad 5 8.4 which comes with QHD screen with much better build but a little bit more expensive.
Hi Tech Tablets , this is a great review . There seems to be quite a few conflicting comments as to whether this Xiaomi Mi Pad has GPS support or not . Could you please clarify this for me , yes or no ?
Might be the first one YT to mention it DOES have microSD support. Saw one in a MI Store in Shanghai last week. They wouldn't actually sell me one though, guess I'll have to find another way to get my hands on one of my own. The Huawei tablets look rather nice as well. Of course this is a bit more affordable. I also like the Lenovo line-up that have a built-in kickstand and very nice speakers with Dolby tweaks. But they're quite outdated on Android version/firmware.
