Mi make such good phones here in UK tricky to get still but once you try one you get so much for your money Memory,battery life, build quality and the fastest finger unlock ever Ram too hats off to you as you always review them over the years and look at how much better they have become ACE! 👍
the problem with 18:9 aspect ratio is that it's not widely supported. Watching videos on youtube are not fun since the majority of videos on youtube are made with 16:9 ratio. Well, we can zoom it on 18:9 screen but certainly we'll lose quality and some parts of the video. Beside, most apps still not support 18:9 aspect ratio so that is also another disappointment. Remember that TV contents are all 16:9 and it's universal. So if entertainment and media is a big deal for you, 18:9 won't be fun experience. Still, 18:9 aspect ratio is very new and I hope it will be supported more and more as time goes by.
that was back in the day...now all the apps are supported for the 18:9 screens. RU-vid videos aren't and you are right if you zoom in you loose some quality and also cut the top and bottom off

My Redmi Note 4X (thanks for your review on that one, helped me choose that phone in the first place) recently died to water damage, and I'm looking for a replacement/upgrade. (I had to work in torrential rain all day, apparently my rain jacket wouldn't prevent water getting IN to my pockets, but the lining was waterproof, so my phone was fully submerged in water for several hours) It's currently between this, the Mi 5X, Umidigi S2, the Honor 7X, and the Zopo Flash X1/2, (although all the media I can find on that is Indian, so maybe not). While Xiaomi products have been of consistently high quality, this seems kinda... _underwhelming,_ so I dunno...
Or just throw that cash at it. I've found it for 264 dollars in EU where I live and this really looks like a great deal. I used to own Redmi 1s (2014) which was priced similarly. I wish the phone looked like this back then. :-)
Just bought Redmi 5 Plus phone and I am loving it...!!! Super long Battery, and 9/10 marks for it's screen quality and performance, the Only problem with Redmi 5 Plus Phone is that, there is no Option of changing "Font Style" of the phone, and for the ppl who buy phones only for "Selfie" this Phone isn't that good...Other than that, 8/10 Marks for the whole Phone from my side.

Yeah, no idea why that's happening. Some phone companies refuse to use USB C on some of their phones, for some reason. I wonder if there's any downside to USB C or if it's just laziness.
It's a nice phone. I bought one for my grandma, it's quick and the battery is great. I have an OnePlus 5T. If the xiaomi had amoled and oxygen OS it'd super nice
Hi Alex, nice review as usual! How do you compare this one to the Xiaomi mi A1? They have similar performances, with few differences (dual camera vs single camera, screen size, etc). Would you still recommend the A1 for the fast Android updates?
I'm currently using Redmi 4 Prime, won't be upgrading in a while let's see if the Redmi 5 Prime/Note is released and worth the upgrade or will be waiting for the Redmi 6!
Thinking of getting a new phone in India bro (It's called the 10.or D)...Costs under 100 $ Snapdragon 435, 3 gigs ram, 32 gb internal, Fingerprint Scanner...Only downsides of the the phone are it's Cameras and that 16:9 display...What do u think ?? Is it a good deal

But why? Its so so so hot and in winter you can ski and start snow fights with snow balls literally on your street without having to drive 9 hours or so, which is what i have to do :(
I own a Nexus 5x. So on paper Redmi 5 Plus is an improvement in every possivle way. Im wondering if I should get this or Note 5 Pro if there is a global release?
As I have a 4x, I'll say no thanks. I don't see the improvement enough to buy another phone. The camera STILL not having any ois really stands out. I do like what Miui is doing though in terms of stock android.
Hey man, unfortunately the 4G bands don't match the 4G bands. They usually release a global version a few months after the Chinese launch, and those would work.

i think the battery life is slightly better on the Redmi 5 Plus. I'm thinking within a month for the Redmi Note 5

Fast charging for 2 hours is not fast charging. Let me explain Battery is 4000mAh which is 4A. Charger is charging at rate 2A per hour. 4/2 is 2 hours of charge. So if u can get 5V 4A charger it will charge in 1 hour but also may fry your phone
Hey Alex, love your reviews. have a question on the phone. Where did you buy it from? I ordered mine from Gearbest, but I'm afraid it might have the ugly screen curvature problem pointed out in the c4etech review of the 5 plus. Yours doesn't seem to have this problem, though.
Usually i buy black phones, but I've grown a bit tired, so I opted for rose gold, so I've come to terms with seeing the besels, it's that imperfection in the corners I'm scared of. Guess I'll wait and see

Redskull Oh God don't remind me of the price lol. I was reading that the exynos version will be better in the camera department and unfortunately I can only get the Snapdragon version. I'm not sure if I will stay with Samsung or switch to Huawei.
for the S7 Edge we were luck enough to get the exynos cpu in canada...i'm hoping for a miracle :) and of course...hoping that my credit card will have $1000+ available at that time :D
Redskull I had the S7 edge with the Exynos version. Honestly I should have kept that. The performance was actually good and the camera was pretty much the same. I will definitely be waiting for some reviews before I pull the trigger on that $1000. Seems like these high prices are going to be the future sadly.
I have found a way to solve the ram management problem in MIUI which is very simple for those familiar with rooting. After rooting the device download kernel adiuter app and in low memory killer option select light or medium.
I am considering either this or the umidigi c note 2 wich also has great specs and reviews . By the way have they corrected the bad audio quality when recording ?

Hi, can you try downloading a video editing app on this phone? Like kinemaster? Just wondering what is the highest resulotion you can import and export on this phone? Looking for video editing phone or tablet in budget. No budget for a laptop. Pls help me bro. Want to step up my vlogging content. Already have a action cam but the problem is my phone only handle 720p in import and export using the kinemaster app.
