In today's video, I will be unboxing the Xiaoda instant Tap or Faucet Water Heater Geyser from the Xiaomi ecosystem. I will show the detailed DIY installation process and with full review of the device. I will also test the temperature capabilities of the heater. The heater works well for my purpose and it even comes with an RCD/GFCI protected socket.
Note: After the unboxing I found that the product was already containing some water. I inquired about this and it seems it was from the factory testing.
Caution: Instant Tap/Faucet Water heaters are not a replacement of the standard Storage Geysers or Gas Boiler Water Heaters. Instant heaters can reach acceptable LUKEWARM heat levels only at a very low flow rate in cold winters. These heaters are meant for a solution to a remote tap where there is no hot water connection, just to make the water acceptable for hand washing or doing dishes.

It may be because since the heater is a high power device, we should be wiring our own Country's GFCI/RCD socket/plug like in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F9XAxjhtVNk.html. Another reason may be since the provided RCD socket is quite big, it may be difficult to pack it with the wires installed and fixed inside the box.

The reason behind this kind of packaging is maybe you need to install more longer wire it'll be easy to install it. In that way you can install it inside the wall for much more safe installation.

Can you let me know if I need to install a water pressure pump for this to work well? Right now my connection is directly from the water tank

It will work with tap water from over head tanks. If the tank is at least 2 floors above then there should be no problem. Even with 1 floor it will work but since the water temperature should be controlled with water pressure, the water output may be quite hot but depends on input water temp. Thanks.

Haha. Yes. This instant heater is not meant to replace storage geysers or gas water heaters. It can only be used to warm water to comfortable levels for hand wash at sink basins or washing dishes. It will take forever to fill water for a bath due to its low flow rates. Thanks.

It may not be enough for a shower. The water flow should be very show to get very warm water. But everything depends on the input water temperature, if yours is not very cold then it may work. But I'm skeptical. It's perfect for just a tap and washing hands and dishes. It consumes 3000W at 220V AC. Thanks.

I think you can try connecting using one of the adapters provided with the heater. But I haven't tried it myself, so I am not completely sure. It also depends on the type of your hose and connector type.

Please help me. I live in Japan and bought voltage converter 100v to 230v but the water temperature still can't go up to 20°C. I don't know why it doesn't work at all. Is it really impossible?

This heater is rated at a large 3000Watts power and 220V AC. You should use two phases of 100V AC to get at least 200V AC to make this heater work. I do not think voltage converters can support 3000Watts power and there will be huge loses. It's better to contact your electrician for getting 200V AC. Most homes in 110V countries like US and Canada have two phases for large appliances. I think Japan also have the same, coz running large appliances at 100V is very inefficient. Thanks.

Oh, I just read online that Air-conditioners run on 200V using a Split phase supply in Japan. Please connect an electrician to do the wiring for the heater. It's Xiaomi ecosystem Xiaoda brand. It's Chinese, no ISI brand. Anyways this product is not available in India right now. Thanks.

You need to have proper grounding to avoid any risk. However in this heater, the water and the electricity is completely separate and uses magnets for switching. Thanks.

Yes you can install it in the sink or anywhere there is a power outlet. Note that this is not a replacement of a storage geyser as it can heat water only at very low water flow. It's ideal for warming water to wash hands or dishes. Thanks.

As shown in the video, mine got to 43 degrees celsius, input water is 7 degrees C. The output depends on the input water temperature and flow rate. Thanks.

i live in the united states.... i am worried the about the power differences. its basically 120volts here, alternating current. also, how many amps or watts does it draw. i looked at the item from the link but of course i cannot read chinese lol. do you know if it will work on anything but 220 or whatever you guys have in europe

Sorry, it will not work on 120V. It works only on 200~250V AC. It's originally rated at 220V 3000W. May you can use two phases in the US to get 220V AC to make it work. Thanks.

The minimum wattage for heating ~2 gallon/minute of water at around 105℉ which is the average flow rate when using the faucet or taking a shower is about 15kW way above the specifications for this product; it's not surprising you won't see any top brands selling this kind of appliances only fakes or poor quality manufacturers. I'm referring here to instant faucet heaters not dedicated instant heater appliances. Online calculators for domestic hot water needs are easily available on internet, just think and do the homework before considering buying stuff

Yes you are correct, but this instant water heater works as intended. As I have mentioned in the comments and description, this water heater is not a replacement for gas heaters or storage water heaters. It's for heating water to a comfortable level for hand washing or doing dishes at the basin during winter. It cannot be used for showers etc. However, I also got viewers from hotter regions telling the water is too hot to touch. So it really depends on the location also. But it should be good for usage during winter. Thanks.
