It is very common in Kpop for companies to decide the images of a group or even specific members and a huge part of your image to the public both speaking and singing wise is your voice..so yes companies do instruct or direct a whole group i.e the concept of your group is cute/young/fresh/girly so you must all sing in high(er) tones or even direct certain members of groups (like Momo and Sana until very recently, or Wonyoung for example who actually has a deeper voice than people realize, etc.) to sing in a "different" voice than their most natural voice. And there are some Western artists and personalities in the past like Paris Hilton and Ariana Grande that have been known to do the same thing to portray a certain image just not anywhere close to the scale in Korea. edit: They also scout for that type of thing too so if they know they have a certain concept for the next group they're debuting (cute, strong, playful) they will scout all talented trainess of course but when it comes down to debuting a new group this is how you hear stories of trainees who Almost made it in another group but were held back because they didn't see them working for that groups chemistry and concept and they end up debuting in the next group after

Nothing makes me feel older then seeing SKZ songs used in games for variety shows & idol survival programs 🥹 I still see skz as my lil babies but in the kpop world, they’re considered seniors/vets now.. like why are we aging so fast lol

They couldn't put Minjae next to the girls because he would blend in with their height, so they put the tallest lol. Once every two weeks is killing me, but I suffer for the enjoyment we will get. Xikers are not too shy for a debut group which is always good on shows like this, some groups don't step out but they were ready to jump in at any moment and it always makes for more entertainment and endears producers to invite them onto more things.
