The Iconian arc in STO was pretty awesome and depicts the "death" of the sphere builders' race, and it's basically our fault... The chapter that comes after the Iconians deals with the sphere builders and their motives...it's quite good tbh

With the exception of the final 5-10 minutes of the season, the conclusion of the Xindi arc is some of my favorite Trek -- ever.

I just barely finished watching the Enterprise series for the second time and I found it a lot more interesting than the first time I watched it. Right now I'm watching the original Star Trek series for the third time. I rotate through each series.

There is one good thing about STO. It actually explained the sphere builders and why they were doing this and why they hate humanity.

Oh and the Iconians... love the Iconians! Definitely a better ark for empress siela. I guess that Iconian war was just a modified Dominion war altho I do like the plot and feel the fact the Krenim were involved adds a lot more to the temporal cold war. Would be nice to see a mention of STO maybe in discover... you know the far future. Maybe an iconian or sphere builder shows up or something, a little nod to the game.

But they very clearly explained that in the show: The Federation would stop the planned expansion at Procyon V. No hate for humanity, just simple military thinking.

I believe it was previously stated that the Sphere Builders' reality is dying, and we see Tucker's hatred in that same episode. Last episode of season 2, so yeah

I think we never got any answers about the sphere builders, because Enterprise was cancelled too soon.

I think earth would be to heavily temporally guarded. But some backwater planet of xindi might not be watched as much.

The music when Degra says "both out worlds" hits hard. Also yes Quantum, who cares, lol.

Sto declares this isn't the only universe where they try to manipulate time. One universe they rendered a galaxy lifeless in a war with the iconians

In a way, it makes sense that the mammalian xindi would side with the mammalian humans.

I don't see the confusion of the lack of knowledge of the Xindi of their gods, the Spherebuilders. Almost all belief systems have some type of, 'god's plan" that could not be understood by mortals. Because of this, the Xindi are pretty consistent in holding that belief regardless of the god's endgame. As for the war itself, expansion of control is usually enough to start a war. The Xindi were an isolated species and Earth is not. An isolated society would be easier to manipulate over one that has new ideas and concepts constantly injected into that society. As for religious ornamentation, why would they have? They're not zealots or looking to expand their religion. They're just a people that are believers who are just trying to find the best way to keep from being destroyed, based on false information.

The Spherebuilders needed "Lebensraum". Not much else to it. And they knew the Federation would stop them down the line. The reason they did not go for earth directly was because it was too well watched by temporal agencies. Any direct manipulation in the past of earth and Daniels guys would have been justified to wreck their shit with a full on assault.

Lore: something that has always been strongly hinted at in Star Trek, but never outright stated, is that somebody, somewhere is keeping track of all the time travel, and that there are rules imposed from on-high that govern it. Even when Q intervenes and, essentially, changes the history of the entire MIlky Way galaxy when he flings the Enterprise into the path of that first cube in system J-25, even he can't just come out and say "I am doing this to provide you crucial intelligence that will help save your species from extinction." He has to give up something to give the federation that information, he has to give up Humanity's first encounter with the borg coming much sooner than it should have. In other words, the intelligence provides the federation a fighting chance at victory, but the trade-off is that the federation has to have that first encounter much sooner than later, cutting out prep time. Even for Q, altering history is not free. Somebody is in charge, someone is weighing the scales of fate, and someone is allowing some temporal shenanigans and not allowing others.

About humanity not being used by the sphere builders: Earth is probably closely monitored by the temporal agents while the manipulation of the Xindi might slip under the radar until it's to late.

The only question is when did the sphere builder started influence the xindi?
@OndraPleva
@OndraPleva 3 года назад
I don't think that they could manipulate therans so easelly. With Xindy they had the perfect opportunity and probably the right mind set too. Also this was are where they've already build they spheres. They probably can see limited amount of future so they didn't know up front.. or outcomes would be even worse for them...
@mckenziecalhoun316
@mckenziecalhoun316 3 года назад
so, about 3:40 it is my understanding that they live across multiple timelines. As such they manipulate events so that as many outcomes as possible will be in their favour (hence their line "the number of favourable timelines is increasing/dropping)
@christopherg2347
@christopherg2347 3 года назад
Not live across multiple timelines, just being able to see multiple future timelines to predict outcomes of actions right now. If the Federation defeats you at Procyon 5 90% of all timelines, you better go and blow up earth before it can form!

The Xindi war arc was very interesting, it was inspired by 9/11 and War on Terror, but instead of making Xindi into one dimensional space Islamists, they made them nuanced and even sympathetic, and that they were at their core a moral people despite their flaws and some of their leaders. A great twist in the end was that they themselves were victims of manipulation and their devotion to there so called "Gods" was done out of gratitude, misplaced trust and unfounded fear, then hatred or cruelty. They also did a great job of handling the awful dilemmas of warfare and the negative effects that it has on people and difficult choices. It was a very Trekian story despite being based more on warfare then exploration.

I don’t know about your opinion, but the robot claw of death inside the sphere is kinda terrifying. Stay well out there everybody, and Jesus Christ be with you friends.😊

the good thing about this show is no stupid reset each ep , people would change grow and fall apart over time. STV was the worst for the daily reset.
