They come in a Pair of 2 shocks so you need to buy 2x packages for a full set.
@@thimtra whats the diameter of these shocks? I am looking a replacement before my truck arrives. Would you mind letting me know what is the diameter of the stock ones. Thanks
Oil filled shocks are so much better and they are a cheap and easy upgrade. It is amazing how cheap you can get them now. Years ago you had to boy them from a hobby shop and they were at least $20 a pair.
@@PERTHWESTOZRC hi Dave.. the link you shared doesn't work anymore do you still remember what's the diameter of this 100mm oil filled shocks for 9125? i saw one in Banggood 100mm/3.94diameter,is this compatible? thanks for your future response 😊
I got the 911 aswell! Just ordered a spec'd up speed controller, shocks, motor heatsink/cooler, and better batteries, she's gonna scream! Gonna grab some larger wheels next. Wish I had have brought the 9125 tho, love the 4WD.
Thanks for watching James, good thing about these Xinlehong trucks is that they are super easy to mod to get more performance out of them, and feel free to check out my full XLH truck playlist on mods I done on all my XLH trucks 👍🍻
Thanks for showing how to install the new oil filled shocks. Everyone always talks about them but no takes the time to how to actually replace them. They do seem to remove a lot of the bounce, this would make for better FPV video. Great video Dave.
Glad to hear that, and you are very welcome, thanks for watching, feel free to subscribe as I have a full playlist on these Xinlehong trucks with mod videos. All the best for New Year 2020 😀👍
This video is over 2 years old so I had just fitted them, there was no cup wear at the time of making this video, Yes with extended raised height on any rc you will get some wear and tear of the diff cups eventually, on this particular model it took quite a few months of bashing.
I bought a set of these shocks for my nephews 9125 and they started leaking out the bottom before I even had a chance to assemble them. I ended up using some o rings off my old Ecx shocks and stuffed them under the lower shock cap.
Yooooo! You totally gave me an idea thanks! Seen you re use those stock balls for your new oil... Notice while watching they push the shock out so I thought that's why I'm rubbing on control arms... So and poped the brass ball out put in stocks not far enough then I was well why not add some other spacer to the brass one and bam! Used spare 12mm bolt for now till I make black sleeve but Thanks!
Hey Mate I've just got myself one of these (in large part thanks to your videos) and am loving it. I've got myself some shocks and am a bit scared about trying to screw them on the rear. what size screw did your use? does it fit through the brass grommet or did you end up taking that out? it would be about a 2.5mm to fit in the grommet I think having trouble sourcing one
Hey bud, tbh I'm not sure of the screw size as I just grabbed those tack screws from the shed lol but all you have to do is make your own thread by screwing into the plastic and put a washer behind it too. Cheers for watching man 👍🍻
Thanks Paul, been waiting on these aftermarket oil shocks to arrive for quite a while. Wish they didn't design the rear mounts like that though considering all their other trucks are normal screw mounted. Cheers for watching
Hello Pranjal, the advantages are better handling as the oil in the shocks dampen the load of the truck much better when jumping the truck for example... Less bouncy than just having springs only with no oil..stabilizes the truck much better more like a real cars suspension, thanks very much for watching👍
Aye bro I have unscrewed the eye hole on the bottom of the upgrade shock and put the old connecting rod ends from the original shocks and screwed it on
Loving this one thanks for sharing very important information giving thanks blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
Great video! I am just wondering if you do anything to maintain your shocks because if you take it outside and it runs in wet areas I find mine starts to become a "sticky" meaning it doesn't bounce back as quick when compressed. I have oil filled shocks on mine. Thanks
Thanks for the video... was wondering about this stuff also. A little off-topic, but have you had any experience in replacing the steering hubs? My son's rear steering hub broke this evening and I can't see a way to get the pins out to replace it without busting my hand open!
It's going to roll over much easier now cos it's higher, plus due to the new one being much bigger they will be catching on the frame arms, also it is putting the drive rods at a very extreme angle, and due to strength of the spring and the low weight of the truck if anything these are way to stiff for this truck, so tbh I'm not sure if it's such a cracking idea
Had these on a good part of a year and had no issues so far, hardly ever roll it over tbh, they are great...plus ive adjusted them to sit lower since this video, each to their own..thanks for watching
I see you installed 4 in the back. With the shocks I used the sprinhs we're too stiff. The stock ones are 85mm. I cut a few coils on mine to get the preload right. Nice work mate!
😁cool! mine is a different brand and it had all plastic shocks those red ones on yours look like you may have added rubber seals and converted them to oil filled shocks?
Steve those red stock ones are all plastic friction shocks..I opened em up after making this video and there's absolutely no seals in them...rubbish lol. Only the top anodised caps are aluminum and they dont hold oil at all.. Cheers for watching bro.
Just got myself a xlh 9125 recently. Should I replace the stock shocks 85mm with oil shocks of the same length or go for the 100mm ones? I wonder if the longer shocks would cause the differential gears to wear out prematurely.
Entirely up to you mate, I've had these 100mm shocks on for about 2 years now since making this video and my diff's still look like new every time I regrease all the gears for maintenance after every dozen bash runs or so, cheers for watching
I noticed after watching this video closer the Metal driveshafts are at a extreme angle and sit against the coolar inside the knuckle. Does this wear down over time or can you hear it rubbing?
Only was on an extreme angle cause I had the truck in my hands and off the ground... I've had no issues and have ran these shocks for well over a year..you can see my latest videos popping wheelies and at the bmx track bashing this truck around..still going strong...no replacement parts yet and have bashed the crap out of this truck lol 👍
@@BDTennessee I'm no expert at this by any means but I certainly wouldn't go over 100 mm. The 100 mm shocks already push the control arms down as far as they can go. Only thing you would get with longer shocks is an even stiffer ride
Hi, I found these shock absorbers in few sizes, from 80 to 120mm. Can you please tell me which one should I buy? An other question:which lipo 11.1 should I buy and is just plug and play or need any modification to the truck? Thanks
Hello any 3s lipo around 1500mah is good enough and its plug and play, make sure you get one with a deans plug, thanks for watching and feel free to subscribe... I have a full playlist on the Xinlehong trucks and mods
Not sure what you mean by piggy back, but the shocks i have in this video can be purchased from the link provided in this video notes, thanks for watching
Maybe next time I service it i will, there's nothing to it really though, just clean all the parts up good and regrease all the gears before reinstalling, thanks for watching
Hi, my son just got this truck and it's our first RC. If I can't drill into the back A arm is this upgrade still worth it? Also is there any battery upgrade available. This thing only gives us about 15 minutes of drive time on high speed.
@@PERTHWESTOZRC thank you! So I can get any battery with a high man and it will fit or does it need to be a certain size? Sorry not sure how all that works lol
@@mattwishart4331 you might he able to find say.. A 2000mah 2s lipo that may fit... But if you can not, take the battery cover off and just tie it with a Velcro strap. Have a look at some of my other xinlehong 9125 videos and you will see how I strap bigger batteries on that vehicle... Please feel free to subscribe and thanks for your comments
I made the upgrade with the same shocks but I have to fill it them myself because didn’t have oil so after put it there are leaking, what did i do wrong ?
@@PERTHWESTOZRC thanks for your answer, they have the rubber seal and I put Teflon rape on it and still leaking, i used 30w oil that’s the problem? What kind of oil you used?
Great video!I broke a knuckle on mine which attaches to the upper and lower arms and attaches to the wheel. I ordered two new knuckles but much to my surprise the pins on the upper and lower arms do not screw out. They appear to be glued in! Any suggestions on how to remove these pins? Thanks
Hey cheers for watching, as far as the knuckle replacement tbh I haven't had a close look at how they come apart to be replaced, have you looked in the user manual exploded diagrams? That should show you a bit more detail.
This video is old and filmed in late 2018/19 the Xinlehong 9125 all came with friction shocks back then. Thanks for watching, feel free to subscribe , support the channel and watch all my mod videos on this truck in my Xinlehong playlist
@@PERTHWESTOZRC thx man. Much appreciated , this is my first rc and I have around 200 bucks for any "upgrades" I can do without destroying my rc lol. Btw this set up is so awesome. Ima grab 6 shocks n drill holes on the lowere rear arms to solidify the suspension by a screw .
Thanks mate. I bought it and I noticed the stock shocks are real real bad. They stopt working after 2 days I guess because of some mud. Hope the new improved will be better.
I think the shock tower will bend forward overtime without the other shocks. I did upgrade mine to but I still use 6 shocks coz I think it will damage the the shock tower overtime if I'll put only 4 shocks
Yeah that was pretty odd, but disappointing as all the other models screw in as normal. Didn't notice they were just snap in until I made this video as I went to install the rear..but worked out in the end.. Handles great now
Buy the same shock suspension I have a purchase link in the description section under this video, they are cheap and easy to install... Makes a huge difference to handling on this truck, thanks for watching jesse👍

I have just bought two of these trucks and I am desperately trying to find the correct oil suspension upgrade kit. The prices seem to vary all over the place. Can anyone provide a link for cheap oil suspension? Thank you.
@@PERTHWESTOZRC hi mate. Thanks for quick response. Unfortunately the product link no longer valid on bangood. I'm looking in Google just can't tell what's correct . Also, can I ask while I have got you, are all four shocks the same size or are there two larger ones and two smaller ones? Thanks.
