My Xiaomi M365 is more than 3 years old and used for almost 5000 km ride. I saved time and money when I used it daily to get to work, with that said, I already got my money’s worth.
Now because of the pandemic, I started to work from home, I seldom use my scooter and one day it died on me while I was on my way to run an errand.
I checked the batteries and they are all fine. No faulty or broken wires. I suspected the BMS could be the culprit.
I bought this BMS kit online for $20 or 900 pesos. I replaced it I got it working again. It’s not an easy process specially if you don’t have experience in soldering and basic circuit knowledge. You can end up burning your house or hurt your self in the process.
Here’s what I did:
After I removed the battery (see • Xiaomi m365 Electric K... on how to safely remove the battery) I disconnected the wires and disassembled the BMS. If you are going to do the same process, be careful not to short the red and black wires.
There’s a glue to secure the BMS, make sure to remove that first and unlock the BMS by pushing it from underneath. Disconnect the soft board and cut the red and black wires from the battery. Again, be careful not to short these two wires.
Cut these wires with XT30 connectors and re-solder them to the new board. Take note of the wire placements as illustrated in the diagram.
Partially insert the new BMS just enough space to solder the wires from the battery. Reconnect the soft board and you should see the BMS blinking in blue if it’s successful. Push to fit the BMS to lock.
Reconnect the wires to the controller and the scooter comes back to life.
