Nice video, some great info, thanks! I want to like the TRX wheels and tires but, they're just made so poorly I can't. The rims and foams are pure rubbish. 2 complete sets of Xmaxx tires like new yet unusable due to the cheap foams they use. Wheels crack far too easily as well. You haven't experienced the ultimate 8s tire yet, well at least not in this video. The Dboot Back Flip BB 8s MT which comes on the v2 8s Outcast. Will be the best 8s tire no doubt. Call me crazy if ya want.😂 I beat the tar out of the original 8s BF's and while the rubber is indeed soft, the wheels are easily the toughest on the market. Proline makes great tires, be even better if they made good wheels.
I really like the mx57 have two sets on my k8 and outcast 8s , duratrax makes good wheels only problem is regluing them after a few bashes Bead lock badlands are great tire but heavy good for all around bashing fun not high air! Plan on getting a set of the new v2 dboots backflips soon

Great video, really nice comparison and also interesting to see your repair and reglue method. Just got myself an XRT so now I’m in the big leagues I’m gonna have to get used to more tire maintenance 👍🏻
How is it that your favorite tire/wheel combo needs to be reglued before every outing? That's just crazy in my opinion. A tire that needs to be reglued every time I want to use ends up in the trash where it belongs. To each their own bro. Happy gluing, er I mean bashing!😉🍻
Great comparison. Thanks. I'm currently building a New XRT Slider. Trying to nail down the Wheel/Tire Combo. I refuse to use something that is way heavier than stock. I'll sacrifice a little for strength over stock. Im very surprised with all the 1/5 Scale adapters out there that there isn't any videos or pictures of XRT's with 1/5 Scale combos from HPI Baja 5B (and mostly rears since wider), Losi 5IVE, Kraken and Rovan. Some of the wheels I've seen are just a few mm's shorter as well as some a few mm's taller than stock. A lot are several mm's narrower. Which leads me to believe the wheel/tire combos are either lighter, the same or a little heavier than stock. Lots of beadlock options too. I have seen some XMAXX videos and pics but because of how much higher it sits than the XRT, it can look a little unbalanced (goofy). Id imagine an XRT, even with a tire that is only slightly smaller than stock would remind me of my .21 powered RC10GT from years ago.
It also depends on the power you plan on running..more power means better wheels and tires ..also recommend going up in hub size if you as well ..stock PowerPoint not really an issue .. one of my favorite all go too tires are the 8s dboot backflips ..definitely a decent tire .. and if you are running stock just throw on the hub adapter nutz . @@timisupercrash Thanks for the tips. So my plan is the MAX5 with 5690 (1250kv). My 1st "Real" Electric R/C. Only had gas & nitro since the 70's lol. Waiting for Madmax 1:5 Scale adapters to come back in stock at DDM. Then it's Pro-Line Desperados Beadlocks (the wider rear's) with a set of Dirt Busters and a set of Tarmac Busters.
Solid advice and tire comparison mate. I usually use locktite 401 and it holds like mad. Sets a bit too quickly but hey. One thing I did when I ripped an X-Maxx tire quite badly (2") is, I repaired it and put it on the rear. Less chance of diffing out and of course I NEVER use self righting. Holding for over a year now. *EDIT* I also balance my tires too... bit tedious on the bigger stuff like the XRT and X-Maxx but a necessity on the speed cars like the Felony etc. Drives so much smoother.
I see Traxxas has come out with the Gravix in a belted version. I was toying with getting a set for my Xmaxx for just high speed driving and ripping around to see if they help with cornering. Kind of a basher/truggy cross. You are the only one I can find that has used a Gravix on the Xmaxx (unless you were referring to an XRT when you spoke of them) Do you have any insights?
