Xperia 1 VI Camera App on 1 V - Revolutionary new features!? 

Had many of the Xperia phones, and the last phone by Sony I bought, was the Xperia X Performance, still have it, and it still works, but of course there haven't been any updates for it for many years, and the battery now only lasts around 4hrs, but it was a great phone, and now I'm just using it when playing with drones.

My Xperia 1 mark VI has been shipped from Hong Kong - should arrive hopefully before the weekend - very excited to upgrade from the 1 mark V

I compared Xperia 1 VI with Xperia 1 V, running both with the VI camera a app. Pictures and videos are brighter and have better color and zoom is much better with Xperia 1 VI and the macro modus works good too. I think it is a good upgrade.

I remember having installed the ported xz3 camera to my XZ premium. 7 years passed by and Sony's still does not update the camera UI on the previous models unlike every other brand does. Vivo have updated their camera UI for the 90 generation, honor even brought zoon buttons in their camera UI, so that's now you can tap to zoom and switch between lenses instead of having to jerk that nasty slider. But Sony fans do it like 7 years ago, by porting the camera app from the next gen flagship. Screw Sony.

After trying it out I kind of prefer this than the other photo pro mode. It kind of felt easier to operate as well as function mode like Sony cameras.

Thanks for this video. I'm just wondering if you think it's a good idea to buy a used Xperia one Mark 5. For about half the price of the current one? Mark 6. What do you think? Actually, I'm not sure about whether it's actually better to get a one Mark IV because I think it's probably good enough. I'm just looking for those natural Sony colors And good image quality on the videos. Is the auto camera improved or the same? I find most of the challenge is the framing of the shot. I wouldn't like to have to use manual controls every time, and think that must be a bit of a nuisance having to adjust it every time you want to take a new photo. Does the camera actually maintain the same manual settings during the photos Or are those settings reset in every photo? Currently go to pixel 6 pro and it takes nice photos but the video quality is not that great Opinions please.

Hi there! I am still using my Xperia 5 ii despite the horrible pink/green lines it has right after the expiration of the warranty. I hope they reduce the price to empty the stock of Xperia1 V so I can upgrade. The VI since it got wider, is a no go for me

Awesome thanks for this! I have the 1 V and would get the 1 VI if I had excess money to blow. I'm disappointed with the increased width of the 1 VI, the 1 V is optimal for me. The only thing I really would like is the brighter screen and I don't mind the reduced resolution. The price is disappointing.

Since the latest update of the Mark V OS the Camera App of the 1VI doesn't want to make videos anymore. Cam app freezes after pushing the record button.

I was hoping for them to add 50fps and 100fps in Xperia 1VI for full Pal Mode support in EU. I don't want to adjust the shutter speed every time and sacrifice my motion blur in order to avoid flickering issues...

Next video you need to do a zoom test in on the moon that would be great thanks. I’m curious to see even though it has the millimeter words on the camera when you zoom in I wanna know exactly what the zoom is when zooming in like 5X 10 X 20 and 40 X optical zoom and digital zoom in total.

I use Sony Xperia 1 IV, app works, but my phone is overheating as it did when I just bought it. Sad. I think I will use Photo Pro app till I buy new phone) I don't hate this app, but if I compare photos, I find some improvements in the quality

They should just put the menu button or something else on the top right corner, that is now just an empty waste of screen tbh. but lets see. with the xperia 5ii i just found out that when using the on screenbutton in photo standard app i jumps into burst mode (never new all these years, weird af haha). now it looks like it always jumps into video mode? Can you do the seemless zoom videorecording but this time also switch to the selfie camera? you talk a lot about drivers but why can we just switch to selfie recording in whatsapp or instagram then? it would make me think its just a software thing. i really hope this new camera app can do these video recording on all lenses (i wouldnt mind if its only available on 1080p for example), would be amazing for social media i think.

I think colors, brightness and contrast are better with the new app. Does anybody know how to quick launch the camera app because "Launch with shutter button" seems not to work here.

Die neue Kamera App ist Licht und Schatten finde ich. Der Automatikmodus ist sinnvoll verbessert worden, das hat früher in Kombination mit dem Basic Modus einfach keinen Sinn gemacht. Ich mochte aber das " Rad" zur Einstellung der Modi lieber und es wirkte professioneller. Bei der neuen Software schwimmt man jetzt eher mit dem Mainstream mit was mir persönlich überhaupt nicht gefällt ich hoffe dass die Pro Modi weiterhin natürliche Farben mit wenig nachschärfen bei JPEGs produzieren, wie beim Vorgänger auch. Insgesamt sehe ich aber schon deutliche Verbesserungen und eigentlich auch mehr als bei den meisten anderen Herstellern. 1. Toller Makromodus 2. 48 Megapixel Bilder 3. Verbesserter Autofokus 4. 2x Zoom verbessert....... Ob das 85-170mm Objektiv besser geworden ist wird ja erst der Test zeigen. Die Module bestehen ja nicht nur aus dem Sensor, wobei ich da natürlich Recht gebe, ein größerer Sensor wäre gut gewesen, wobei ich mir nicht sicher bin ob das dann mit dieser Makro Funktion geklappt hätte. Es scheint ja selbst mit dem kleinen Sensor schon sehr sehr schwierig zu sein, den Fokuspunkt zu treffen je größer der Sensor je schwieriger wird das natürlich. Außerdem ist es klasse dass die Kamera Objektive bei Sony weiterhin kaum aus dem Gehäuse herausragen. Mein 1Vi soll ab dem 3.6 geliefert werden, ich bin schon sehr gespannt. Mit dem one Mark five bin ich nicht 100% zufrieden weil es im Alltag teilweise ruckelig ist und mich fast schon ein wenig an Samsung erinnert😢

I still think that the Xperia 1 VI will be superior. Only cause of the FHD+ display it’s not are fail. It has superior battery life what I personally prefer over are 4K display. And it will have little bit better camera set up.

Interrsting Sony is going ever more towars the mainstream in the camera app department as well as dropping the top tier screen. It is an interesting choice, given how far behind they are in automatic and how saturated the Android market is, often at lower price points, i cant see this being a major draw card but time will tell. Hopefully the 1VI will not be the last flagship Xperia and they are going low with the 1VI to go with with the next Pro. I am not too fussed with the screen although it is clearly a downgrade but making the camera more basic and less mimicry of the Alpha camera is a loss in my view. I got the 1V because I want to get more into dslr photography and practice but not carry the dslr all the time. Interesting video. Thanks for doing this hard work

Ich bekomme oft nur bei Nahaufnahme die richtigen Farben. Blumen in Hintergrund sind oft Lila statt Rosa oder Dunkelblau statt Helblau (auch nicht besser mit der Xperia 1 VI Camera App)

ah man I was hoping Sony sent a Vi to you!... hopefully soon, what are your thoughts on the phone. ill be honest the lack of the 4k screen and aspect ratio is upsetting but man... the photos that I am seeing that the phone is producing is very very impressive. Also the long battery life! and vapour chamber cooling!

The only thing I noticed with new app is have IA assistant.... That why it gives better results... But remember most are fake .... example ."Fake sharpness" .. I don't know as photographer... I love camera pro mode interface on my 1IV and if they dont change something about that with updates, i wont even consider buying this phone. Looks like child designed camera for Sony this year.

I don't mind having improved stock Camera app, but I still think all the separate first-party Pro apps shouldn't be abandoned. If I want to do something specific, I know where to go.

I would say all the Alfa Camera mimicking stuff that they try to advertise up to 1 mk V are gone. I don't think they will do good by trying to adapt to the common android apps/phones including the aspect ratio. Now they are less standing out even. I could be wrong, really don't think 1 mk VI will outsell the 1 mk V. And they still don't have any innovations outside of the Cameras.

True to life experience of Sony and its Xperia 1 IV & V models: 1. Never upgraded its camera software as it should. Still crap sharpness and grain overall in auto and mostly manual. In manual, burned pixels everywhere by bad noise management software. Its front one is simply utter crap regarding bokeh, focusing is fixed, and it cannot take far away subjects. The videos crap in low light. Bad HDR overall in dark spaces of the shot. Crap lens with lots of undesired color and light flares. 2. Utter crap heat management that was never solved, when it's hot its speed is more than 50% lowered, OLED gets third times darker. In the past, the device turned off for a random amount of time. 3. Utter crap OLED with burned zones on the margins after strong light usage that only by crap upgrades some they hid. 4. Because of getting hot 'adios' water resistance and its proof. 5. Utter crap LED torch (for videos) and flash (for telephoto shooting) that in many situations of low light it's useless. Never upgraded by software. 6. Software upgrades are lame overall and still rare. 7. Latest news: Sony now will not answer by Sony Customer Support that its very few replies are that its top device doesn't need any improvement (they know better), but their true life testers and fans are still complaining. 8. This 1 IV is the same... So take it, if you want to waste yourself... Beyond imagination to all that are doing such a miserable job of fooling people for newer devices for such high prices, for Sony is putting now apparently better software in same crap old hardware nowadays. Die hard users from 2000 of Sony... Thank you!

The VI is a damn joke! The 1 V is much better and I have the camera app too. I can tell the new app is designed for 'the unwashed' it looks like it's designed by a child.
