when you consider just how many great albums and the journey of there career its rightfully awarded...........there music is sampled by the electronic industry still today......there early music is groundbreaking and still cutting edge....there mid to 80's were huge and played to stadium crowds and they made some outstanding political singles and albums....for me new gold dream 81 82 83 84 is the greatest album ever made.........congratulations simple minds
All the opinions on Simple Minds mid 80's period are kind of boring now, it was part of a journey and depending what age you were during that part of their career ie: just getting into music or wanting more "New Gold Dream" is going to influence that opinion. Their enthusiasm and love for what they do is obvious. Jim & Charlie have kept at it regardless of what was written by the music press because of that genuine love of music and playing live. So good to see them recognised (at last!) for inspireing others.
. james dean bradfield is one of the few musicians who mentions them a lot , its crazy a band like SM, should be acclaimed at a regular basis, i mean the clash, led zep, stones etc all top bands... but so are SM.
There was definitely no dodgy period in the late 80`s, street fighting years was claimed to be possibly their greatest album by one Gary Davies R1, come on Mandela Day and BIko, just class
