You got a couple things wrong. The engine borrows a lot of parts from Eric Buells parts bin. Heads, cam, special intake, exhaust, light flywheel. They make about 90hp stock. With stock gearing only a v rod will run away in the 1/4 mile. Nothing else HD makes or made will touch it. I own a 2011 X model. They made less than 500 XRs in the states in 2011 and 12 each year. Total US production was about 3600 bikes. Most are 2009s. How does the windshield do? Or does it put it i into your face? I have a set of cortec bags for mine. It's basically a sport touring bike.
Shame you didn't try the XRx model with showa adjustable suspension front and floating front discs. Most negative feedback on the XR1200 was the suspension that didn't keep up with European/Asian bikes, Harley listened and upgraded the forks on the XR1200x. Nice review!
Agreed! I've heard amazing things about the xr1200x! Maybe one of these days we'll get one of those unicorns in the dealership and I'll get to throw it around a bit
@@MaverickHarleyDavidson it looks like that bike already has the floating rotors from an X bike on it and an upgraded shifter that is much more positive than the stock shifter. From what you said it has the "Scotty mod" in the primary. Nicely done bike. Mine never fails to bring a smile to my face even after a good 500 mile day of riding. I am guessing you are in Texas so take that bike to the twisted sisters and you would have a blast!
@@user-sw2lv3zp6o the 1250custom is the flat tracker (a bunch of sites say 1275cc but it is 1250) and it may be replacing the sportster in the long run. I would hate to see it go after all these years but HD has to do some big stuff to stay with the competition.
I have an 09 that someone put the adjustable front and rear shocks on it. Powercommander too. Its a cool bike. I still got the stock gearing though and may not change it. I just rev the crap out of it.
Great bike and that was an awesome review! At the end when you put the kickstand down --- I found that super awkward too when I rode it! Is it located in some weird spot? You almost have to stand up too push it all the way forward. Trying to decide if it's a deal breaker. Best Regards.
THANKS! I wouldn't say it's a dealbreaker for me, I'm sure it's annoying to me since I don't own one and Harley hasn't produced it in years so I am not accustomed to it. If it is a dealbreaker for someone I would have them consider the new Roadster. The XR1200 itself is a good enough bike that I could easily overlook the kickstand positioning
Trying to find a place that has the risers for the handlebars for 2009 XR 1200 is anybody watching this video know where I can get those risers they got to be staggered thank you
