I bought mine primarily as a 3d camera, but I'm enjoying using it over my phone because 1) I don't have to deal with messages 2) I don't have to deal with battery life 3) it's a better nebula experience (though not perfect, you cannot rely on a hardware company that makes a living selling hardware to do proper software especially if there's no money involved). That being said, I'm happy with my Beam Pro (definitely more so compared to my plain Beam, which is a very limited device at best) paired with my Airs. Looking to buy the Lume Pad 2 but news from this channel (from 4 months ago, he he) made me want to hold off. Thank you for the video, liked and subbed.
Purchased. Thank you for offering a 3D capture review. So many were about using it with the XReal glasses. I’m not considering buying the glasses. I just wanted to know about the 3D and you’re providing that info. Purchased. I’m curious about the lens separation comparison to that of the Lume 2. Just since you mentioned the Lume. I couldn’t find the Lume 2’s separation source but I think the Beam’s is 55mm. The blur references are a worry. I haven’t seen pix like that but I guess I’ll see when mine arrives.
By the way everyone who sees this video, there is a technique that you can use in the second half when the two side by side screens appear. If you look at both images and the slightly defocus your eyes, your optics naturally will allow you to see a third image right between the two. If you focus on the third image, you will find that you are seeing both images blended into one. And that will be in 3d! I’m not an optometrist so I don’t know how safe it is to use this way of “stereo viewing” for long periods of time. I do find that it makes my eyes a little tired after a few minutes of watching the video like that. But at least you can absolutely view 3d images from spatially recorded video in this way. It will give you an idea as to how the spatial content looks. I will add that for some reason on my iPad the two side by side spatial images seemed stretched in the vertical aspect. But even with that said, the blended and viewed version of the second half of this video was viewable. Good luck!
3D photography has always been a thing for me. Even over 30 years ago, I used to tape two one-time-use film cameras together to capture 3D photos. This device catches my eyes because of the 3D camera, and I decided to pre-order mine a week ago. Can't wait to try it myself. BTW, like the second half of this video but the aspect ratio seems off. It is very narrow and tall. Beside that I think you should post more review/video in 3D for this channel.
Beam Pro can only output Full SBS: 3840 x 1080, it should be compressed to Half SBS: 1920 x 1080 by youtube, so the ratio is not quite right. The content is correct when viewed with XREAL AR glasses, so you can try it out!
I'm looking forward to the Ego review. I was comparing it to the Beam Pro because they can both shoot SBS 1080/60. I'm going to hold off on my purchase until I see your comparison. BTW, if you remove the black bar between your SBS videos, it will look much better on my Acer SpatialLabs monitor. Right now it is distorting the video.
Got it. Thanks for watching! I'll see what I can do about the distortion. This version should look good on Lume Pad 2, its tough to optimize for multiple different 3D displays
Thank you, this has convinced me to wait, passable video isn’t acceptable even at this price point, early adoption is painful enough at any price, although I’m still very tempted.
Some people mentioned black bars and the weird size of the 3D and I realized after seeing your TV review that isn't it because the 3D part is squeeze into half-SBS? I guess that's the only way to fit it on 1080P and have it combined with the non-3D part. You could upload fully 3D SBS video, though I guess that'd only be to the benefit of Xreal users that can full screen YT on any browser and hold down a button to watch it in SBS. The non 2D people would be like "this is hella wide screen and I can't see anything because it's so tiny/50%"
Hey Josh, I think your channel focusing on 3D technology and spatial technology is a great choice of focus. You get a like and subscribe sir. I have the Beam Pro on order (8gb 256gb version). I wanted all of the onboard memory that I could get for the unit. I noticed you saying the iPhone 15 Pro displays spatial content. Does the 14 Pro Max do the same? If not I may have to buy myself an iPhone 16 Pro Max or whatever the best version of the imminent upcoming iPhone will be.
Thanks! Yes, but it requires a spatial screen protector to display the effect (applied to the iPhone just like any other screen protector). The iPhone normally doesn’t do it on its own. The spatial screen protector will be available for the 16 models, which all support spatial video capture, so waiting to get one of those might be the best choice
I'll say looking at the 3D video with my XReal Air 1 was a bit underwhelming. I also looked another video on YT where someone took videos in an outdoor/shopping space and not great. The problem is that the video image in 3D is so small on the Air and can't get good 3D depth perspective. I had the first Oculus and 3D was immersive because of the wide FOV and large screen image. Was hoping that the 3D would be better, but I guess will wait for AR glasses to mature.
Thanks for sharing your views. How do the photos compare to ones taken with a Red Hydrogen One? I carry that brick everywhere since IMO it takes fantastic macro photos. Can you share some on Leiapix?
So Josh have you made an actual side by side comparison with Qoocam Ego's 3D photos and videos to tell us your opinion ? I have read that photos from Ego look better (sharper, not so mushy) than from Beam Pro, because the whole sensor in Beam Pro is smaller but it also has twice as many pixels, thus a pixel surface in Beam Pro is more than 3 times smaller than in Ego. This results to noise in darker areas of the photo even when taken during good daylight conditions. Ego also has bigger lenses than Beam Pro (1/2" sensors with 24 MP resolution. Beam Pro has Samsung S5KJN1 sensors -1/2.76" with 50 MP resolution). What do you think from your tests ?
Dying to know how the 3D compares to that of the Apple Vision Pro’s 3D. The video you shared looks great, so far, btw. I am seeing some ghosting, I think, on some closer objects. I’m a bit confused because the quality issues you mentioned were followed up by saying the quality is great. Has the blurring gotten better?
@@westmcgee9320 there were some updates that improved the overall experience a lot and seemingly the quality of the videos too. The videos turn out best for close range RU-vid style videos like this, but are ok in other situations too. I’ll try to do a comparison of the Vision Pro vs this and the XREAL glasses
@@josh_3D thx for responding. I spent way too long last night and this morning, with my fingers hovering over the “buy” button, so to speak. I’m not sure how water-resistant it is (say, as-compared to the iPhone 15 PM). I’m intimidated by how labor-intensive conversion would be. I want it in Apple’s format. Reality player hasn’t been great for me, trying to watch SBS content in 3D. I’d prefer a more or less native experience on the AVP. Until then, I’ll continue to use wearing the AVP in-public. I’m nervous about doing so at the beach (and you know how the 15PM 3D compares). Anyway, thx for the feedback. Ugh.
Thanks for the helpful review. Is there any way to upload a 3D video to youtube so I can share it with others who also have Xreal glasses (like in your video) and how to do it? Anyway good job!
@@countryfolk4109 Thanks! I think it should actually just work ok if you capture the video using beam pro spatial capture mode and then upload the video file as is to RU-vid. That should have the left and right images both there so people can watch on XREAL glasses and other devices
Thanks this should save me £800 more for a iphone 15 pro to make spacial videos for the vision pro i will be getting - can i put a sim in it too (for data only when im abroad)?
@@TheBaldyVlogger that should work fine. You can share your internet so the beam pro can connect and use your phones connection. I just tried it and it seemed to work just like normal android phones
12:30 slow transfer? Quick share should be fairly speedy and it suppose to be built in android(at least newer android). But maybe because its a chinese model it might not be available or maybe both device doesn't have quick share
I tried looking into this but I'm really not sure. I dont own a quest 3. It may recognize the device if connected via usb c and allow file transfer, but I'm not sure. Otherwise you might need to transfer to a PC and then to Quest from the computer
What width x height number of pixels per eye in a 3D photo? Some reviews are quoting 50Mp per camera, which would imply 8k x 6k, but that seems much higher than anyone has achieved.
Hi keep up the good work. Cannot wait to see the new devices. Yes AI or artificial idiot it is so dumb, I wonder if any of the people going on about it have ever used it, I have and it is useful but dumb 😂😂😂😂
@@danielg.6677 oh there are definitely ways on Quest to view SBS videos in 3D. There must be apps you can download for that like moon player or something
@@tab0169Sadly it is not a 3D screen. I wish. I use my iPhone with a 3D screen protector to view in glasses free 3D. There will be upcoming smartphones with 3D displays hopefully this year, almost certainly next year
😅 really though, it was legit just my first impression after trying it out. Still got some flaws, but it definitely grew on me and I see more where it shines
Hey Josh; I was wondering if you would consider letting me edit one of your videos for free?? I have accumulated 30k views on an anaglyph picture with music on TikTok
@@sergioin3D hey, do you mean add effects and transitions and that sort of thing for free? I also have to edit in 3D which makes it extra tricky. I am open to trying if you want to do it for free, and it’s very kind of you to offer but I’m curious what made you feel like volunteering
@@josh_3D because I’m still taking my own 3D video and I’d like to see if maybe I can try something different for practice, I could do some more research on the program I’m using; and for your sbs video if you tell me what you’d like like text or video cuts etc It may not be like studio quality but it would have a little more oomph
The interface sucks for this project. Rokid station 2 is much better. It’s just software and a controller I don’t want a screw and cameras in it. Always got to throw more gimmicks that people don’t want but the interface itself is junk for android. Like one of those free metro pcs phones junk
Garbage The beam pro i received works but I was led to believe it was an upgrade from the beam IT IS NOT! It does not have the ability to connect to my devices like my beam does I can game on my beam I cannot game on the beam pro without excessive lag from miracast streaming to it. it was not worth the money I paid for it.
