Our leaders give us guidance early on, and we all carried a cooler. We were also instructed by our leaders to keep hydrated. I had both water and gatorade in my cooler. We kept drinking even when on the road. Every morning, we filled our coolers with ice from gas station. By noon we had cold ice water. I and few others used this west: www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/shop/hd-tech-cooling-hydration-vest/p/98124-22VX I found this helpful. We had to sock in ice-cold water and wear it under a mesh jacket. I also wet my headband with ice cold water, and put my helmet on. It was all worth it. The biggest mistake I made was spraying alba botanica sunscreen spray on my face - that was my. stupid mistake. I had an eye irritation. We should be careful in using sunscreen spray under windy condition.
