XSR700 | Long term review (92.000 km)

In the video i say i am trading it in for a 2020 model but i meant 2022.
Had my XSR700 bought as new in 2016 and trading it in now with 92.000 kilometers completed. Wasnt planning to record but because it felt as losing a piece of myself by trading this bike in i wanted to record my final hour with it.
Not many XSR´s or MT´s seem to reach this milage so i wanted to show it to the world how it looks like.
Now riding its 6 years younger sister and massivly liking it. Maybe i will record it too someday. Greetings and have a wonderfull day.

The green XSR is still my favourite colour of all the models. Have picked up the 2022 white/blue 700 and am loving the ride.

Thank you for the video. I have a green xsr700 also although a very tiny 20000km in comparison. Very comforting to know how well the bike has lasted. I love the bike, the speed and handling are perfect for me and enjoy how easy it is to change parts on it. I hope you enjoy your new bike.

Thanks a bunch for this real long-term review, as you said, there aren't many with that much mileage out there 💪 I got the 2018 model with the silver tank, which will hopefully gather many more km before I have to think about a replacement! Hope you'll eventually upload another video, you did great on this one 👍

@@uplerr on milage i am a bit behind schedule as i wasnt able to ride for some time. I am around 13.000 km now. Fork springs are stiffer which i dont really like. And the new plastic heel guards were a bit too much in an outward position. Have different ones on now. Euro-5 engine is smoother on throttle then euro-4, but also less torquey. New black display is way too bright at night. Even on most dim setting. Put two layers of screen protector on it do dim it some. Missing the original 2016 metallic green a bit aswell. Really need to do that second vid 👍

Very very excellent! Thanks a lot. It's at this mileage that you really see the reliability of a bike. Yamaha (and all Japanese bikes) are really reliable. I've been a rider for 34 years and I've always owned Japanese bikes and I've never been disappointed!

I love that green color. I’m obsessed with this bike and want one but they’re next to impossible to find new or used in my area of California in the states. In the states we only get the black 2022, which still looks good, but I’d choose the white if we had it. Im checking multiple times a day at multiple dealer sites and Yamaha’s own dealer inventory tracker, but no luck yet. Hoping one pops up sooner rather than later.

I already miss the green as it was a pretty unique color to have. I think the first 3 color sets of 2016 were still the best , with the red one close behind that as it reminds me of my 98 Hornet i had before. Though i like the white i have now aswell as it has a bit of 80's because of it. Odd that the US only gets the black one

Man, thanks a lot for your experience video with the XSR700. I was test riding the 2022 modell today and likey it quite a lot. But I also do have some (minor) nags which i didnt like perfect. As you have so much experience with the former modell, it would be great to hear from you how you persive the new modell, concret: a) The front brakes, I felt they where rather good (not superb but for that class of bike very good). Do you notice the difference? b) Front fork - still no upside down / Showa BPF - but should be slightly enhanced - do you notice any difference? From the changes for the 2022 what i like: - The Adjusted Tachometer with white on black LCD (like the Tribute version already former had, and also the 2021 XSR125 has) - The adjusted tachometer position - its just easier to read during drive without the need to look down so much - The additional switchgear selectorf for the tachometer for easiere changing wihthout taking away the hand off the bar - The LED front light (not tested it, but i know from XSR125 which has LED already how much better / more light it is in the dark) - Black levers look better (tiny thing, again brake lever adjustable, clutch leaver not) What i didnt like perfectly: - Great that the 2022 has LED indicators, but the mount / the wooble plastic radiator guards look cheap. I might even prefer the former front indicator position closer to the front light. - 2022 .. Honda has Showa BPF Upside down on 500 Class bike (500F, 500X and 500R), would be great if Yamaha did put a better fork on this bike (also considering the price of this bike and of Honda CB500R and Honda CB650R for comparison) - Same about slipper clutch - i do have one on my actual bike (Street Triple R 2020) and imeditaly noticed the lack of it in the XSR700 - sure you dont "need" it, but would be great to have it. Honda has it on 500 and 650 bikes (for less money) - The front light LED is great from perspective "how much light", but the housing looks cheap. Some aftermarket versions for the former XSR700 2016-2020 look better in my view. - The front lamp mount is full plastic. The XSR900 but even the XSR125 have the nice full metal pieces - the look great - the plastic version of the 2022 XSR2022 doesnt look great. Hopefully there will be some better aftermarket pieces for that.

The front forks have had an update which is easily noticed and quite an improvement. Although on some roads i actually liked the old soft ones. I like to ride trough farm land areas where the old soft ones were pretty nice. Being softer or harder i believe in the end as a rider you adjust to it and at some point dont really notice it anymore. Same as the engine mapping , a lot of people had problems with it being a bit harsh but at some point you adjust yourself around that problem. (and then forget about it ever being there) Same for upside down shocks. It would never be a dealbreaker for me as for me its a too tiny detail. Had a Hyperpro kit on it for some time and loved it the first few weeks for its handling , but at some point i started thinking that the kit actually took all the fun out of this bike 😄 It wasnt the fun quirky bike it was before so i changed it back to stock again. Still have the kit laying around somewhere. For the looks of plastic i think its a very personal opinion. Dont have a problem with it being there as the metal parts of the 2016 model easily scratched up. Plastic will discolor too at some point but unpainted plastic stays nicer for longer. If i can find one thing i dont really like about the new model then its the new dash. At night its way too bright. Will fix that soon.

Wow, congrats on the mileage and the new bike. Cannot go wrong with Yamaha engineering. I pickup my White 2022 in two days! Are you enjoying the bike? Thanks and congrats on youre new bike also. You will really like it. Just like the old one i really love this one , have already run 700+ kilometers since last friday as i want to skip the run-in period to 1000 as fast as possible 😄 The only thing i kinda miss of the old one is the speedo. The new one seems way to bright when running at night and its already at its lowest setting. Trying to find a solution for that one. You maybe know something for that? Maybe the green tank i miss a bit aswell. Was a pretty color together with the red one which came later. But like the white one aswell. Feels more retro 80's to me

@@madduchefe About 15km for a single ride yet during januari i mostly take the car as its a bit too cold. Below 5 celcius i mostly let it sit at home to only take out during the weekend once. I really like smaller size bikes like these as they just squeeze in everywhere. Also i have to manually lift it up at the rear twice every day to park it diagonally in my small shed. Hi Jimi. Sorry for missing your question earlier. My milage per gallon or liter is something i have always tried to not calculate as it makes me sad with the gas prizes here in the EU. We pay over 2 euro/liter at the moment. With the new bike i said to myself to never reset the daily trip meter ever again so i wont think to much about it. 😊 First years running around 2016 - 2017 i think i calculated somewhere between 17 and 23 liter/kilometer , and watching the live onboard fuel consumption (by accident 😉) it also says around 20/km on the new bike when commuting.
