you can be very proud of this effort..... somehow it is like rescuing an abused animal ....that bike will love you forever i think......i have an '84 in the garage that i love, thanks for making this video.................wb
Willard, that makes me want to take another look at my 89 XT 600. It needs a lot of help, but honestly it's pretty simple...the only bit that isn't that straight forward which I don't love is all the cross threaded bolts or damaged from hard riding bolts which need a lot of extra time and help. I think you're right though, I can't believe after all this time that it just at the least needs a stator - took me a year to find one for less than $400 though! Yikes! ($120 on eBay - bought it the moment it came up, had missed 1 once in another country on eBay by 12 days for around that price).
yeaah I had my frame coated back in 1990 but really i do not remeber it took that much touble. but than again I did mis any parts. so I did some thing right.

you have set the bar very high on you standard. excellent. where did you source the wiring loom from. mine is twisted together with tape by previous owner. I have made so many solder repairs it's untrue. need to replace if I can
Bei mir läuft die Schaltwalze nicht so schön leicht wie bei dir ,sobald ich die Gehäuse schrauben angezogen habe lässt sich auch nicht mehr die welle drehen .Die nut der Schaltwalze sitzt so stramm im Gehäuse das man nur mit Kraft drehen kann ,woran kann das liegen ?? Lg
Hast du beim Motor rein heben den Bock einfach nur auf den Holzklötzchen stehen gehabt? Ist das nicht wackelig??? Hab meine dazu immer an die Decke gehängt...DR650 Dakar
Holzklötzchen nicht, das ist ein selbstgebauter Hubständer. Du kannst aber auch eine Bierkiste nehmen, das würde auch halten. Vielleicht ist die Unterseite einer DR aber auch ganz anders als die der XT... So fest wie möglich ist aber immer gut, Sicher ist Sicher...
Sorry für die späte Antwort, ich benutze "Firefix" aus´m Baumarkt. Das ist eigentlich für Ofenrohre im Heimbereich und das einzige was einigermaßen gut funktioniert. Ich hab vorher schon sehr viele "Hightemp"-Lacke ausprobiert und die meißten waren sch.....
ich hab auch ne XT rumstehen die ich eigentlich wieder gerne fahrbereit hätte, ist nicht so hard crazy custom style aber son bisschen kabelbaumsalat is schon drin... seid ihr im Süddeutschen Bereich unterwegs?
