Hi, hope you enjoy my cover/recreation of Xtal by Aphex Twin.
Thanks to ‪@SynaMax‬ and ‪@bleepsandboops‬ for the guides on the song.
Digitakt (Steve Jefferies "Evil at Play" sample), (Apache drum break sample), and sequencing the MicroFreak.
Model Cycles is using its own Sequencer. Synced via midi.
Recorded straight to my mixer only using internal digitakt delay/reverb fx. No Post processing.

I love the clarity in the bass and the new timbre of the sounds. Great stuff. The only thing I miss from the original is the tinny hi-hats.

I love it. It's like hearing the original but in high quality. The original song is so lo-fi, which is part of what makes it good, but this one is refreshing to hear.

this is the only cover i've seen to capture those truly special flourishes, the ghost notes on the high hat, the swelling reverb at certain points. just fantastic

Why did you get rid of it? I just got a dirtywave M8 and I’m loving it, it’s very similar in a lot of ways to digitakt. It made me realize the digitakt is a tracker in disguise. Cheers

first stumbled onto this randomly late at night while listening to the original song and was completely blown away by how good of a cover this is, some parts of it i honestly prefer to the original to sit down and listen to. since then i've come back to this again and again multiple times either while working on something or just relaxing, this is awesome!

Mine is just the copy, true genius on the original. The original was copied from a tape and has that copy of a copy of a copy type sound which makes it sound like it was almost lost to time.

Unbelievable. As someone that’s struggled with depression and anxiety my entire life, Aphex Twins music has literally saved my life. This cover, just made my month. One question, can you record vocals directly into the digitakt?

Yes you can, but it only has 1/4” inputs and not xlr inputs. just need the right cable and to turn monitoring off (to stop feedback).

What synth is generating the main synth part? It's beautifully accurate

Main synth part? The main part the breathy sound is a sample that’s been trimmed and tuned slightly. let me know if you are referring to some other part.
