Thanks for explaining low current mode.

With the red model the screen is much more visible. I might even say highly visible. And yes - putting a rubber band (like the soft ones I wrap my locks with) around it is a smart idea :) Thanks for this good detailed review.

You mean the red LED model. But yeah, the negative to this product is the magnetic cover. That was a huge mistake.

@@Resist4 think of what was if there were 4 points of little powerful neodymium magnets.. how that'd be like.. basically, FYI, I have it and I don't use the band around it because I barely got to travel with it on me, I just put it indoors most of the time while I'm out with one of the mods anyways

im curious how you tested the efficiency? as far as i know you need to directly measure the Wh from the battery and compare it to Wh from the usb output, at least thats how GreatScott! channel tested his DIY powerbank...
@LiquidRetro
@LiquidRetro Год назад
This was aong time ago, so take this with a grain of salt, but I measured it from the USB side and then compared to the batteries capacity. They were legit and healthy cells so the ratings were pretty accurate.
@randomvideochamber1723
@randomvideochamber1723 Год назад
@@LiquidRetro i have no doubts on the USB side. but you cannot compare the battery rating (charging capacity) to the usb output capacity. you need to directly measure the power output of the battery, this is because there are things happening in the battery including voltage drop due to load & "discharging capacity" . note that discharging capacity is dependent to output current, the higher the current, the more the charge in the rated capacity will be wasted... i hope you get me coz i too did this mistake ahahaha. (edit: you can try this with your xtar vc4s charger. discharge a battery to 3V then charge it to 4.2V you will see that its the same as the rated capacity. Now try the grading mode and you will see that its less than the rated capacity. i think xtar is discharging it at 500mA, that means @500mA you will have that bat capacity. now think about 2A, the capacity will even be lower...)

Does it charge with 12V via a PD charge? Does using of type-c to type-c cable provide any advantages in either charge or discharge over QC3 and normal type-a to type-c cable?
@LiquidRetro
@LiquidRetro 4 года назад
I believe it will do 12v PD, it's listed in the specs, not sure how I force that. The advantage of c to c is you can use the other port to charge a device at the same time

Is there a version that can charge 4 21700 Li ion batteries or a Ip67 water resistance that you know. I like that it is In type C and type A and it is from a good brand the price is ok. If there is non they should have at least an ip 67 version even with just 2 slots of batteries that would be less worries about keeping it dry.

I just received this device from Amazon, I got it in red (not the red LED version). I had 4 old TrustFire TR18650 2500mAh 3.7V batteries that appeared to charge up to 100% fine. But then when I tried using them in the PB2S to charge my iPhone 7 Plus and Oculus Quest, the units display went blank and the charging stopped on the devices. I checked the charge on the batteries and the PB2S showed 99%. Do you think I have a bad PB2S or could my batteries be past their life? They're probably almost 10 years old but still work in a flashlight. I have 2 Samsung 50E 21700 5000mAH 9.8A batteries on order.
@LiquidRetro
@LiquidRetro 4 года назад
The trustfire batteries are a fire hazard to begin with. I would start with the new Samsung batteries first.
@Resist4
@Resist4 4 года назад
@@LiquidRetro so apparently those old 18650 batteries were the issue. These new 21700 batteries work fine. Question....the PBS2 is a battery charger and power bank, what's the difference?
@allemander
@allemander 4 года назад
Dan A battery charger will replenish/recharge batteries that need to be recharged (when it is connected to a power source). A power bank will use the replenished/recharged batteries inside it to transfer the stored energy to a connected device that needs recharging, such as a mobile phone, tablet, flashlight with a built-in recharging port, etc.

@@LiquidRetro I believe that it's ANY 18650 with "FIRE" in the name.. Of course - anything that is supposedly with a rating of higher than 3500 is also suspect.. Any 18650 on Amazon and or EBay also as well. The list goes on and on and on.. Buyer beware..

All these superficial reviews... there is a big design failure with the PB2S: Try some partly depleated (around 20%-30%) batteries in the PB2S as a powerbank, which of course it should be able to handle until they are discharged to 0% (not 0Volts of course). Try it on your smartphone. What the PB2S does is that: off - on - off - on.... and so on. It just cannot deal with partedly depleated batteries as a powerbank, which is a no go if you relay on it and just have no full batteries anymore. Thats what any good powerbank can do - work until its discharged to 0%. But not the PB2S. XTAR obviously didn´t learn the most out of the failures the former PB2 showed. So sad..
@mrpink3630
@mrpink3630 4 года назад
my zanflare charger does that when using powerbank feature too. exact same behavior
@BigSmartArmed
@BigSmartArmed 4 года назад
That would be because it does not charge to full 4.2v, and does not discharge below 3v. Instead, it charges barely above 4v, and discharges only down to 3.3v. They set it like that to stay "safe". Not to overcharge a cell and not to over discharge a cell. By doing so they are wasting over 40% of factual cell capacity.
