XTool D1 honeycomb holder / jig adapter

I received my XTool D1 honeycomb and have been using it for a couple days. I had received complaints that my jig kit would not work when using it, so I ordered one to correct the issue. I must say that I was pleased with the honeycomb as far as improving the cleanliness of cuts but did find a few negatives in the design. I took the things that I didn't like and designed a system to correct these issues and allow my jig kit to be used with the honeycomb. The only supplies needed to build the item is wood glue and standard tooth picks. The link to the glue that I use is below.

Clackmeister, this is my 3rd time through this video...and it gets better every time! Fella, you are doing the xTool D1 community some MAJOR favors by producing these jigs and then sharing them with us. Your cost on the jigs is actually cheap...and we'd pay more. Just think of how much time and frustration you are saving us! Have a great weekend...and stay super cool down there in Chilton County!

Very egggggggggslent !!. I am ordering my x Tool D1 Pro tomorrow. I am a complete newbie to lasers. I have learned so much from you. Your gigs will make my life so much easier. I have been in construction for 50 years. I know the value of tools, jigs, time and effort saving shortcuts. I noticed a t shirt you wore with a drone on the back. Thanks for the video, and explaining the jigs. I saw them for sale on Etsy but was unsure how to use them. They could help me quite a bit. As for the little round magnets (4 in total) are actually feet for the honeycomb. It took a while and multiple videos before I discovered that. If it wasn't for videos like yours and a couple others I follow, I am not sure I would ever learn how to use my Xtool d1. The information that came with the laser was lacking, to say the least.

Excellent solution, if I may give you a tip, do not move the laser head so quickly with your hand, you now generate current from the stepper motor to the electronics (just like a dynamo) and can damage the electronics.

Just bought this file, and made the leg risers. Beware that XTOOL has apparently made slight modifications to the machines, as noted on the jig locking panels he has made. I got my D1Pro last Christmas (2022), but just made the extensions for the honeycomb grid. The legs were slightly too close together. Using 2 clamps I could get them in the holes, but then the risers would pull up in the back. I had to trim thin layers off the inside edges with a band saw. Still worth the effort, just be aware if you have a newer modified XTOOL, you'll need to adjust as needed.

Great idea. I need to come up with something for my Jinsuko LC-40 to keep both my honeycomb (the honeycomb is smaller than the laser work area at 300x300mm)and the work on the honeycomb from moving. Looks like the first thing I need to do is somehow bolt the laser itself down to keep it from moving. All I know is it is really annoying to have the work piece move just as I start the engraver. I have hold down clamps, but even those are not the best solution, especially with smaller pieces like 50x76mm that I have.

@The Clack Shack To clarify I was in no way saying it didn't work. I think this is brilliant and love your videos and channels. I'm referring to those saying it won't line up with the enclosure holes for the power buttons. I don't have the 3 holes, I have one solid so it should work for me. I was simply saying I will personally do it that way if it works for mine, you can let others who have the one solid hole with xtool enclosure know that it works. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm excited to have this.
@janellgarcia4171
@janellgarcia4171 Год назад
@The Clack Shack it works great with the enclosure and the hole is fine for the plugs and power switch. Again, I have the newest style enclosure, that doesn't have 3 separate holes. It has one solid hole and whatever part you aren't using, you just put the same velcro on top. However, I have the extension kit on mine so I'm using 2 honeycomb (xtool) and this won't work for that as the honey combs fall short. I would have a big gap in the middle of the two. Maybe I can play with the file and measurements and figure out a way to make it work. I really wanted to use your jigs lol.

Great idea on the corner blocks. I have a Shopsmith and can make those out of solid wood. In those wood kits like U-gears and Wood Trick, toothpicks are also used as axles. Right now, I have my setup on a table I made using a bi-fold closet door laying on a couple of sawhorses. I think I will see if I can come up with a way that I can hang the laser unit on the wall when I am not using it. I was wondering if Luan was good for laser cutting. Noone around me carries 4'x8' 1/8th inch Birch plywood (forget about finding Baltic Birch that size). I have to go to a big lumber yard 30 miles away to get it.
