It takes a good sailor to push the TI solo in big wind and waves. But it takes a GREAT sailor to be able to shoot a full length music video at the same time! Ed -That was fantastic!
I was wondering if this was possible...thanks for showing this! I am seriously thinking of buying one of these to go exploring where I live (Falkland Islands)
Saludos.
jajajaja, muchas gracias Javier.
Get a Gortex dry suit and a fleece bunny suit to wear under it, and a neoprene foam hat & gloves, and rig something to help you climb back aboard in an emergency, and you will feel safe & comfortable enough to enjoy sailing there. It's what I wear in the winter in NW Washington State, USA.
muchas gracias Dani!
It´s more comfortable Rear, just because of the splashing... Also, sailing there is more fun as the bow gets higher over the sea... right, if you want to get more speed then, at times, the position has to be more forward specially if wavy so the boat sails better as cut the waves instead of crashing them. Still learning!
educavendish - I've been looking at the tandem island for awhile now, however I don't know anyone that actually owns one and the sales goons only want to sell, sell, sell. My question is: if you have sustained winds (5-15+ knots) is it possible to traverse 20+ miles in a day? I want to be able to drop in at spot A and get to spot B and camp, drop in again and reach spot C. The entire trip is about 35 miles. Would the TI be able to cart a person and camping gear and still be able to get enough speed to make the distance required? Suggestions? Thanks for your time.
Hi Jayson, in many of our vids you could watch how we are able to do more than 20 miles in a journey. I recommend you to watch 3 HOBIE TANDEM ISLANDS AVENTURA LANZA FUERTE this is our three days adventure in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, here in the Canaries. We camp two nights and sail two and a half days. 150 km. thanks!
Yes to all your questions. All you need is wind. If you live where the water is cold you will need a full-body wet or dry suit. In the TI, you can furl the sail and stop out on the open water if you have to fix anything or need a break. It is a very steady platform.
Hi Jayson, I don't know where you are be we rent (and do tours) on Hobie Islands on Vancouver Island, Canada. But check/watch Hobie's website - they are putting together a list of where you can rent them. Also, at Hobie "demo-days" you can try them out for free!
Hi Julien, from this video´s date I have uploaded 16 more videos... Last one about three weeks ago: a video with a images shot from a drone, it worths watching it. here it is: 6 ABISAL12 HOBIE TANDEMS FROM PHANTOM VIEW thanks for your comment!
HI B Hill, well I rather prefer the tramps this way if windy... Wind can create a pushing effect if blowing underneath that I prefer not to handle if sailing alone like in this case. Thanks very much for your comment!!
