Hahaha I don't know about that. The guys at Xtrusion are awesome and great to work with. My help may have been a little more funny though 😂 thanks again!
We went with the GO Rhino overland rack, I've now ordered that thing 3 times and still comes with missing parts. can't even put my new RTT on there either. might just cut our losses...and go with this one. Looked at them in the past but I'll be realllll honest....6+ week ship time is not cutting it for me. pun intended. What was the amount of time it took for you to get yours in?
I'm on week 9 guys, apparently issues with a out source that makes the extrusion bars. Ya know what though ,In the end I will have a American Made product that will last.
I am from and live in Arkansas. I love watching Ozark Overland. I just came across this channel and I love it. I am watching all the previous videos. The diesel gladiator content is great…and the scenery in Canada wow…great videos thanks for making them.
I also had the same issue with the bed denting at the mounting points. I had stainless plates made to spread the weight. You will want to use aluminum to avoid galvanic corrosion. But it made a difference. When you start adding weight and with the trails you hit, it’s a cheap piece of mind. Mine are 8” angle that go on top and down the inside of the bed caps under the feet.
So glad to see you have an XO rack. I bought mine in March 2021 when they weren't as well known (and a bit cheaper). I love it. I don't have a ton of stuff mounted to mine normally so it's a quick 5 minute off if I need the bed to haul stuff. It's just so adaptable it's really unbelievable. I will note that my T-slot nuts rusted over time and that was frustrating. I ended up finding some stainless ones at TNUTZ and they are great, no rust so far. That should be an option from XO in my opinion. But the guys at XO are great and love the product. I found too that the Yakima 1A Towers (for rain gutters) mount perfectly in the rails. Since my rack on my Gladiator is a few inches below the roof I only use the Yakima bars when I have something long to haul like a kayak or lumber.
mine does not have a canopy. it is just the rack. Do you mean the awning? sorry i might be confusing the cap canopy with the awning canopy. Its a 270 awning. works great! If i were to do it again, id get one with zipper walls.
It’s strong and adaptable to various needs, but I see that metal on metal slider rail being an issue once permeated with trail grit. After watching Destination Adventure get his custom aluminum enclosures done up at Harbour Machining in Prince Rupert, I think I would go with a fully enclosed shell, with multiple access hatches. Hate trail dust in everything, and not having my st#ff under lock n key.
Was this the build your own option or i see a extrusion 1 and 3. Also were the awning mounts extra? Thanks man love the channel . New to the gladiator rigs, traded my fourrunner in for my 2020 launch edition gladiator.
This was a little bit of a custom build yes. If you reach out to them you could ask what I got exactly and they can tell you. I would tell you but I forgot what was included kn the kit and what wasn't lol. Cheers! Welcome to gladiator life. Also if you go this route let me know. I think I have a code you can use.
Does the tent rub on the cab at all when flexing? Looking at making my rack extend over the cab for more storage but only about as far as your tent does.
Hey, Teddy East Coast cabin. Here just wanted to ask you, bro. What was the grand total price for that excursion rack seat on the East Coast of Canada? We don't get all these good things that you guys get. I have to go all the way out West to get this stuff. I can't get an Audi cab unless I go to the middle of Canada. I can't get you know, half of the portable battery packs. You guys, have you know, like the one? Sean used to use all the time. I can't get that here on the East Coast. You guys are lucky to be on the West Coast. It seems that more Gladiator and more overlanding stuff is available to you. All on the West Coast anyways, brother. The rig looks great and I love how you do it with your son, father and some teams
Without filming I probably could have had this rack fully installed in about an hour and a half.... with the tent and awning. With filming and adjustments, taking the piece in to cut and just coming up with the ideas took me 3 days lol It's so customizable so you'll spend more time thinking about where to put things than you will building it.
Are you looking for pretty much what you see in this video? If so you can just tell them you want the same thing they'll know exactly what I have. I do recommend getting it 2 inches higher (just mention it to them, they also have tent risers that would solve my problem) shoot me a message if you have any questions I'm happy to help.
I had 1 check engine light due to not changing the air filter. And my driver side mirror has no power. Other than that I've had absolutely zero issues with the jeep. And neither of them are related to the tune.
Unfortunately I’m on my second set of warranty returns. I think the looks is superior but the function or the lack there of is frustrating. I hope both of our problems are resolved and we can enjoy the beauty of the lights.
