Dude your negative was a positive I like that he uses one weapon he is trying to master the one weapon he has and master it a lot of games have just switching weapons all the time he knows what he likes he is not trying to master all weapons he is trying to see how far he can taken this ONE weapon and also he is improving his sword instead of just replacing it which makes it cooler in my opinion
That's absolutely fair dude. What you've said makes a lot of sense and understand while you feel that way. I just personally prefer loads of loot to look through which is just a me thing. Its only a minor negative to me and obviously, it only applies to me as it was my review. But, yea I get your point of view 100%. Thanks very much for watching and for leaving a comment. 👍😊
@@ConsolesOnlyGaming Loads if loot is to be expected from an RPG in this decade. Multiple weapons, so you can choose which one you enjoy using the most. This is actually why I’m not going to get this game, boring.
I like the idea of just one weapon , been wanting that actually and it was the point that had me sold. Not everyone is a fan of grinding for new weapons or the headache that comes with choosing on which weapon to spent resources. Seriously most games have me doing research on which weapon is best to upgrade and I don’t mind this simpler approach
Great review. I'm planning to buy the physical version of this for my Xbox One soon. It reminds me a lot of older PS2/Xbox/Gamecube Action RPGs. This would have done really well back in the 6th gen or even the 7th gen, PS3/Xbox 360/Wii days. The biggest problem I know people will have, is the fact that it's not up to the standards that most modern games strive for. It doesn't feel like a true Xbox One or PS4 experience, however I can forgive that, as it was created by a very small studio. I've played several games over the years that were hated by most, but I found enjoyment playing them. A few examples; Two Worlds, Two Worlds 2, Risen 1, 2, 3, Arcania Gothic 4, Bound By Flame, Venetica and The Rise of the Argonauts. The graphics might not be top tiered but it still looks pretty decent. It does look like I will have a lot of fun playing through this one, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Thank you very much for you kind words, its appreciated 😊 Yea its more like a Double A game as opposed to a Triple A. Its made pretty well and I had no technical issues at all. It definitely worth a play if you like those other games, I don't think its bad at all. Its not perfect but it doesn't have to be. Anyway, Thanks for watching! 👍
@@ConsolesOnlyGaming Thanks brother...your format on game reviewing is pretty darn good...I just found ya, and have a question..can you compare this to Biowares Jade Empire (I know it's way older) and what is your opinion between the 2. Thanks
Definitely one of the best reviews I’ve stumbled upon I was thinking of getting this since it’s on holiday sale but I wanted to hear a take on it. And you’ve helped me a lot make my decision 😊 truly appreciate your review.
Thanks man, that's really nice of you to say😊. I'm glad I was able to help you find a new game to play and I hope you have a good time with it when you get around to playing it. Thanks very much for watching!👍🏻
Welcome to the channel! I appreciate you taking the time to subscribe and to leave comments😊. I hope you enjoy my other content too, I mainly focus on lesser known games, double A titles, anime games and a few Indie games here and there. I do play the odd triple A game as well, but not too often. Thanks again and I hope to see you in the comments!👍🏻
@@ConsolesOnlyGaming will definitely stay tuned! I meant to ask if you have ever tried sword and fairy also, but then I seen it on your page so I watched that review also!
Thanks very much! Yea, if you're a fan of Wuxia stuff then this is definitely worth a look. I've also done a review of "Sword & Fairy: Together Forever" on this channel, I think that's another game that you should check out! Thanks for watching!👍🏻
This is a really good review saw the game today on a sale was on fence on it if its worth playing. Your review really made me want to give this game chance.
Thanks very much. Yea, I personally thought it was a good game. I was pleasantly surprised. I don't think its going to blow anyone away but its worth a playthrough in my opinion. Thanks for watching!
Yea, its really quite good for how unknown it is and as you said, its not very expensive. Definitely a decent experience. Thanks for giving the video a watch, I appreciate it.
Nice! Its honestly a really decent game and I think a lot of people would enjoy if A. They knew of its existence and B. If they give it a chance. Its not perfect but it was pretty enjoyable. Hope you have a good time with it! Thanks for watching!
My opinion of this game is a small studio with an single A game budget made a double A game, sells at half price of a triple A game. And about the lack of weapon selection in the game, it's a culture thing, it would be a inappropriate for a hero to use an axe or a 2hand sword in Chinese culture, it's only fitting for him to use a 1 hand sword. It's kinda like Robinhood would only use a bow, he would not use a crossbow or wield a war hammer.
I agree with that 100%. They did such a good job with this, I was very impressed. That's a very good point about the weapon actually, I hadn't really considered that. Perhaps they could have done a range of one handed swords with different appearances and movesets? Not that the game really NEEDS it or anything. Just would have been nice. Thanks very much for watching and for the comment 😀
That would be pretty cool actually. I think it would be a great way to get this game in more people hands. There's actually another game coming soon that looks really similar to this. I'm not sure if its the same developers but its called Sword & Fairy: Together Forever. Might be worth a look? Thanks very much btw, I appreciate that!😊
When you see a corridor of some kind, that you have to press a button to slowly walk through it, then it's an adventure game. It is a pitty with the low weapon selection, as eastern arts have tons of weapons they could have used. In these types of games I always think there should be two weapons, one short range one for long range and even some type of shooting weapon. The low polly textures the developers probably though if they shoved them in the corners no one would notice, the problem with that is they become more glaring as they stand out.
Hey John! Yea, the game is generally marketed as an Action RPG but when you consider its structure it does feel more like an adventure game. Perhaps an Action/Adventure RPG? It would have been cool to see some more weapons but as I mentioned, I think what they have works fine but even just one more (as you said for long & short ranger) would have been a nice addition. In regards to the textures, yea I think you're spot on. As I moved through the outdoor area with the very low res rock textures I noticed them everywhere. As you can see from some of the footage though, some areas actually look really nice. Overall though, its a decent game and much better than I thought it would be. Cheers for stopping by as usual mate! 👍
Yea, I can definitely see that in the game. Apparently the series has been around for a little while but this is the first 3D action game they've created. I think the other games were mobile games? Not 100% sure. I found it to be pretty good really. Quite a nice surprise.
@@__________..... so? Is it wrong if it reminds me of other games I've played? I'll admit that I might have worded it wrong though..so forgive the confusion it might have caused
Personally I like games like this how far can you take this one weapon style and when you improve your sword instead of replacing it it feels more personal like monster hunter you upgrade your swords from nothing to legendary if feels more personal
Yea, I think its a decent game in general. If you keep your expectations in check, the game may even turn out to be better than you think. Thanks for watching!👍🏻
Quite frankly, I've seen similar graphics issues like those shown around 10:40 in games like The Witcher 3 so I won't fault this game for it. I find the animation style more interesting as well so I'll pick this up.
This game looks like the Chinese version of The Witcher 3, but at least I can say that unlike the latter, it has a decent Combat System (let's be clear, The Witcher 3 is a masterpiece, but it has a really badly Combat System. This Xuan-Yuan will have a history not up to the level of TW3, but it sure surpasses it on the Combat System factor).
That's a very good point actually. I never really thought of it like that but you're absolutely right. It really is a lot like TW3. Also, I have to agree with you on the combat! Thanks very much for watching my review, I really appreciate it.
@@ConsolesOnlyGaming it was a pleasure to watch your video. Very useful for helping people discover this beautiful unknown game. Regarding the Combat System, I'm glad you agree with me. XYS7's Combat System is pretty good, while TW3's is pretty bad (but hey, other than that, the game is great).
Personally, I preferred Sword & Fairy 7 overall and I think I said that in my review of it. It may have something to do with the enhanced visuals though. Xuan Yuan is a PS4 game that looks pretty decent but Sword & Fairy 7 on PS5 looks REALLY nice. Gameplay wise, they each have their charms but I'm gunna give the edge to Sword & Fairy 7 again. That's how I feel about the 2 games but I would play both if possible. If you have to pick one AND you own a PS5, I would go for Sword & Fairy 7. If you only have a PS4 then to be honest, you could go either way. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
@@ConsolesOnlyGaming thanks for your recommendation!! i currently playing the sword and fairy 7 in pc though, will try xuanyuan if i get great overall experience in sword and fairy
Great review. Thorough. This game looked better then I had hoped, and I'll have to pick it up when I can, though I might wait for a patch or two. Bloodborne > GoW2018 :P lol
Thanks as always dude! I mean yea, its pretty decent. As I said in the review its not amazing or mind blowing but its pretty good. Also, I agree with Bloodborne > GoW2018 haha. I just picked God of War to mention verbally because it was a bit more mainstream and would probably apply to more people. I actually like Kingdoms of Amalur's combat system quite a lot as well lol.
@@ConsolesOnlyGaming you made the right call I think, I couldn't help myself though. Bloodborne has gotten quite old now too. I havnt played Kingoms of Amular since the original. I recall accidently getting the French packaging lol
Are there any other games like this ? I really enjoyed this one. There was only one big negative, the chess ! I have a learning disability which can cause some issues. Apart from that, it was indeed, a very playable game.
I can't really think of many games like this. Its kind of its own thing I suppose. If you're looking for action RPGs with hack n slash combat you could try something like YS IX Monstrum Nox. I've done a video on it but Its an anime style game so it MAY not interest you.
@@ConsolesOnlyGaming I discovered gaming in later life, not too ago, and unexpectedly love it. Not yet played an anime game. Will have a look. Thanks 🙂
@@ConsolesOnlyGaming I found Tales of Arise going cheap and am currently playing it. Really enjoying this game so far. Not played anything quite like it but was still up at 3am. A good sign for me 😊
Sword and Fairy 7 also made by Softstar is a lot of fun. Gujian 3 is also great. If the chess game is difficult there are RU-vid videos that show how to beat each match. Just make sure game starts with the red or black winning the same exact way or forfeit the match until it does. Select the same pieces to play with. I breezed through after this.
looks cool ... but eng voice is important i think ... couldn't go farther on (sword and fairy 7) because of this problem ! can't spend all the time reading and miss all the fancy actions xD
I see what you mean. I personally always use an English dub is ones available because I can just listen to what's going on and focus on the action instead of having to read. I didn't find it too much of an issue in this game if I'm honest but it does bother me in some other games for sure. Cheers for watching!
Yea, I agree! That's a really good deal for that game. Its not the best thing in the world but its more than good enough for $20. I hope you have a good time with it! Also, checkout the game Sword & Fairy: Together Forever. Its very similar and I have a video about it on my channel. Thanks for watching and thanks for commenting👍🏻
@@ConsolesOnlyGaming gameplay is good but there is a single downside and that's the language. trying to remember the story in the game is challenging when I don't understand what everyone is saying. in the end if I had to rate this game based off of that it would be a 7/10 game
i would even go to prison for 25 years for a good mmo or a good rpg that has costumization on another level and that it can be a normal upgrading system but much more upgrades like hundreads of upgrades like to take a sword to +100 or to take the game at that level of a sword of + 1000. like from damages of 89 to damages of 89000 but slowly.
I really do think its pretty good. Worth a playthrough even if you just stick it on easy mode and enjoy the ride. Not a full price game either so that's good 👍
It ran pretty smoothly on my PS5 but there's no way for me to personally tell. After doing some research though, it looks like its 1080p 30fps and PS5 is up to 4K 30fps. So, short answer, I don't think so. I think its 30fps. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
@@ConsolesOnlyGaming It's 60fps on PS5. All the judder and stutter that it has on PS4 is gone too. A couple of sites have it listed at 30fps on PS5 but that info is wrong and it's listed as 60 on most of the lists that mention all the games with better framerates through back compat.
Haha, It was alright I suppose lol. I played the story through to the end and then that was it. I remember saying to myself afterwards "Yea, that was alright" lol. I've never really been a huge fan of God of War in general. Not cause I think its bad, just because it doesn't really interest me, you know? Either way, thanks for watching my video and leaving a comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I dont know the second I see that linear corridor simulator gameplay and wall climbing with no enemies that is a real red flag. And the character design and story look generic as hell.
I think those are fair observations. There's a lot of fans out there for these Chinese games but while I dont think this is the best game ever, I did enjoy it. Everyone's different though, what's fun to some, isnt fun to others. So with that in mind, I totally see how someone, such as yourself, could look at a game like this and not be into it. To give you an example, God of War 2018/ Ragnarok are beloved games by many but I have zero interest in playing them. I played the 2018 one and thought it was OK but skipped Ragnarok due to lack of interest. I know I'm WAY in the minority on that one but it just shows how "one mans trash is another mans treasure". If Xuan Yuan Sword 7 doesnt look good to you from what you've seen in this video, then yea, you should absolutely skip it. I did a review on Sword & Fairy: Together Forever which is a similar title, I liked that game more than this one so maybe you could check out that review and see what you think? Anyway, thanks a lot for watching and for sharing your opinion👍🏻
