A recessed zipper makes this a great traveling bag. Easy to make and no pattern needed. Just a few simple shapes and you get to use your own seam allowance.
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial! I'm going to make this bag right now! All the extra little tips are such a blessing, and you Laura, are such a blessing! Thank you for all you do for so many~ God bless you!
Now I know why big bags are so expensive! I appreciate your workmanship and talents, even if I never make this bag, I enjoyed the video! Binge watching stuff like this today...what fun!
Thank you so much! I have made 2 in 2 days LOVE this bag. I made one exactly the size as instructed WOW what a nice big bag! My second was a little smaller with out a zipper perfect for groceries! Thanks for such a versatile bag tutorial
I had to make this bag today LOL. I woke up and saw this video, did a quick inventory of my stash and dug around for foam board. Hey this took some time but it came out amazingly well. It is very large and feels great on the shoulders. I made the 3 pockets on each side. One with a guset or pleat for a water bottle or whatever, Thanks again.
OOOOOhhhh....yummy bag; I do embroidery and I can see making this and putting a big gorgeous red poppy on it...ooohhh Laura, you have started something! LOVE your vlogs, you are a superb teacher; you outdo yourself every time, and are a top notch teacher. I don't even care for sewing but you make it fun!
Great tutorial! I love your teaching style. Right to the point. I made this bag reduced to 75% in size with an adjustment for the handles. Had to figure out how to reduce the size and keep the part above the bag the same. I wanted to make a bag for my Grand dog to use when he goes travelling. So used cotton with cute paw prints paired with a grid pattern fabric. All black and white. Quilted it with foam interfacing and I added piping in red to the top of the pockets and used a red zipper. So cute I found red bandana fabric with puppies on it at Joann's for the lining. I love it. Filled it with toys and a Minkee blankey. Thanks so much!!!!
I make my mom a tote JUST LIKE THIS once every two years for Christmas! She is a teacher, and loves this style of tote for all of her teacher goodies! Thank you for this beautiful tutorial xoxo Last Minute Laura
Nice big bag with a zipper, very nice! I like the double layer of fabric surrounding the zipper and how you installed it as well as the idea to add a removable piece of plastic or other material to the bag bottom! Thanks for the tutorial!
Fantastic! This was EXACTLY what I was looking for. A humongous bag to carry my tools and stuff when I make a home visit to a client. It's all made and ready to go as soon as my next client calls! I appreciate the simple shapes and clear instructions. I love this kind of tutorial that assumes the viewer already knows how to sew and why certain techniques are used. I hate scrolling through searching for the actual title content. Now I'm eyeing the campaign signs in my neighbors yard and plotting a midnight raid...lol.
I'm on this tutorial a bit late...but it's a wonderful tutorial that I've adapted to fit what I want. But I have referred back to your tutorial multiple times to ensure I have the technique right. Thank you
Good day ... May i please ask for the measurements of all the components exept the lining ... As I need to do the covertion to cm and m ... Thanks in advance
Wow!!! I got a yoga bag for Christmas and alas it is too short. I need a tote that will hold my two yoga mats, 3 blocks, a blanket; along with my water bottle, wallet, keys and phone. So I want to take that bag that I got and modify it and add some zippers. This video will help me do that modification - I think. LOL. I just need to break down the steps. I wish you had not have used black fabric. It is hard to see black or really dark fabrics on the video. Other than that, your instructions are clear, your enthusiasm much appreciated!
Hi Laura, can you please do a personal item sized bag with some pockets? Flying on a budget airline requires underseat bags to be no larger than 14x18x8, finding one is a challenge. Outer slip pockets and a top zipper would be awesome. Meanwhile, I will play around with this pattern. Thank you, sweet lady!
Great video and thank you. I can’t find any store near me that sells purse zippers. Would a regular one way heavy duty zipper work? Also, if I wanted to make my tote smaller how much do I have to shorten the bottom panel to make the gusset. Thank you. 🙂
