Brilliant. I have a similar system for holding my parts from DIYTech that I 3d printed and I think I will use Aluminium tape instead of the copper since it is 1/3 the price. Thanks for this idea.
Absolutely amazing video! Thank you! I will have to try this with mine. This feature is something built into UGS, correct? Candle only probes the Z-axis from what I understand.
Hi Ryan. I've recently upgraded a 3018 cnc with the banggood machifit spindle, and got some 1/8 tungsten carbide endmills from.amzon. Do you have any specific recommendations for best endmill sets.for small aluminum mold runs please. I got single fluted ones to start with. Regards. PK
I have pretty much just used cheap endmills off of Amazon like you are saying. I did however buy a larger 1/4 size endmill that I really liked to do a lot of the initial clearing of the part. I have videos where I go over how I cut aluminum but it I would make one change to the videos it would be that I lowered the stepover amount from 40% to something like 20%. That way you can increase the speed of your cut from something like 100 to 500. It cuts much faster with way less chatter of the part. I also then cut .2mm instead of .1 when I decrease that stepover. Here is the link to the bit I was talking about. amzn.to/3sRV976
If your part is not conductive you are probing the vise to find your zero point. The copper tape is providing an inductive surface to the plastic so you can find the location of the vise and then through measurements find the location of the part.
@@BusterBeagle3D Ahhh that makes sense. But in both scenarios the alligator clips are still needed to complete the circuit you mention? What is the purpose behind this?
@@AidanSample Just so they can be attached and removed easily. One has to clip onto the bit and the other to the vise or part. You can use whatever you want as long as you can secure the connection.
@@BusterBeagle3D But why is the connection at the vise or part and but necessary to begin with? Also thanks for the replies your videos are awesome! just trying to understand everything that’s going on.
@@AidanSample You can use the vise without anything else if you like. The wire connections are for resetting your zero position on your machine so you know exactly where your part is in relation to the CNC Spindle and bit.
@@BusterBeagle3D i changed it to negative. I posted on a Facebook page and that’s what one guy told me and it worked but now I’m having issues with the router going away from the material instead of to the center and I’ve tried using the rotate 90 degree button in ugs but that didn’t help even after using the reset zero button next to the rotation button
