As one of our great philosophers once said...."Bloody Brilliant". My first cover was a queen-size fitted sheet with clothes pegs, second was a painter's drop-sheet (waterproof upgrade) and pegs, now I will definitely have to go "pro" and get me one of these for the T7. Bargain! I'm thinking the XXL shown on Max would be perfecto. 😁 Cheers Mark.

You might use the straps only if it has strong winds or so. Cool.

Hi Mark, I’ve used one of those Xyzctem covers when I didn’t have a garage for over a year in Chicago. Our weather can get pretty extreme. It held up very well and I still use it. They’re good covers but if you do use them as your primary cover outside on a daily basis you’ll probably have to replace them every couple years.

G'day Mark and all. I park in a "motorbike park" at Perth Airport, it is open to the weather. The wind sometimes gets brutal there. I'd recommend strapping underneath the bike for any open air parking. Every week I see covers and tarps that have escaped!

Hello Mark, Thanks those covers look dam good and would be handy for storing the bike under wraps or out on a big tour, covering the bike is good for security and protection especially in shit weather, Well done and I enjoy your honesty! David ....Adelaide....Tiger 900GT & Scrambler

100% agree mark regarding the cover usage , But in shed i use double fitted sheets just for dust & easy too wash if need be. Double fitted sheet covers the 950 Super Enduro / 1290 Super Duke / 690RFR Rally (large Bmw or goldwing etc I'D use a queen)

I know where I live we can get some pretty bad storms, now if your bike had to be stored outside, and you had that cover, that strap, would probably hold it on more secure, and stop it rubbing back and forth in Highwinds, probably only used in extreme circumstances, but you wouldn’t want your cover inadvertently blowing away overnight

Hello Mark, On a trip I put a cover on my bike for the night. The bike was dirty from driving in a terrible weather the whole day and the wind gusting pretty hard during the night. When I lifted the cover in the morning I saw that the cover had slapped the tank so much that the paint was damaged pretty bad due to all the dirt and grime on the bike. So I think it would be smart to tie the cover down real good on the bike when strong winds are expected.

They always create swirl marks in the paint even when bike is clean.....

Great if you park the bike outside or want to just cover it up in the shed but they are just a bit bulky to strap to the bike for travelling. I bought an Andy Strapz cover, they don’t cover the sides so much, more just the top, but they pack up nice and compact so are easy to carry and real easy to fit.

I always have my bike cover when traveling. I find them very useful when camping in the bush here in Canada. There is so much tree sap that a bike cover is a must. That shit is almost un-washable ... If space is an issue, you can get a cheap compression bag on Amazon that probably reduces the volume to 1/3 of the supplied bag.

When you have tall windshield and rather tall rear cofre on a bike and very large cover , you really want to cinch that cover down in the middle . I do that with the rope from behind the handle bars to the bottom front of a windshield. Maybe that extra strap is for that. Otherwise cover becomes a sail and very strong wind ( which we have in US every year) EASY ! tips your bike over. And you have to buy and install new handlebar. Had that happen one time - learnt my lesson. Thank you for your always uplifting videos !

Question for you, are they heat resistant or do they melt nicely on a hot exhaust like the only bike cover I have ever used?… once only! 😂

Yeah i'd say the strap would be to stop it flapping around in the wind. Nothing more annoying when trying to sleep while camping.. Cheers.

Hi Mark, we use them here in Europe or as a traveller to make our bikes invisible to the public. Less chance of people touching your bike or even nicking it. But what I would want to know, how much is the difference in temperature and UV on the bike under the cover between the black and silver?? As I still have my bike waiting in Australia for me to come back and do some awesome travelling again.
@BikerBits
@BikerBits 2 года назад
Bloody good question! Logic says it would be hotter under the black, but I no professor! 🤣

I got ones from Aldi, Black outside and like cottony soft stuff on the inside been about 5 years still holding up on my main bike, one that has been sitting more outside/storing and in the direct sunlight has finally spit the seam after having to move it to cut down a tree in the last storm. Just stapled it back up and less watertight then before but keeps the weather off it.

Sizing nomenclature is confusing and stupid ; XL (extra large) fits CB 250 - so is really just a small. XXL (extra extra large) fits DR 650 - so is really just a medium. XXXL (you get the idea) fits GS1200 - so is really a large. I just hate it when they do stuff like that, you never know what size you actually need. Grrr.

Great cover for the money. Even has taped seems. I've used the premium expensive covers, they all turn to shit. Contrary to popular belief a thick cover is not better than a thinner cover.
