Welcome to the world of UK Garage gentleman. Pretty much how you described it, a mash up of hip hop, drum and bass and dancehall. I would definitely recommend that you carry on down this rabbit hole and check out tracks like: Oxide and neutrino : bound 4 the reload So solid crew : 21 seconds Sparks and Kie: fly by The streets: don’t mug yourself
MY CHILDHOOD CRUSH 😅😅 .. Just took me way back! Those Garage days! Sneaking into raves at 14 15yrs old to go crazy to these bangers! These were pivotal years leading into Grime. People began confusing the 2 Genres. Wiley cleared things up in 2004 with "Wot Do You Call It" and put Grime officially on the Map. Before that though we were all about Garage! Man I wish I could deep dive into this with you! Appreciate this one fellas 🫡💪🏾🔥
Ms Dynamite had so much talent. "Swiss Cry" is another garage classic. UK Hip Hop - Skinny Man - Council Estate of Mind the whole album. OG Grime: Escobar - 96 Bars. Demon & Kano - Gangster Toyz, Flirta D - Warpspeed, Bashy - F64, Bashy - My Nightmare, Riko Dan - Gun Talk MoStack - Fake fake fake, Octavian - Party here DnB: General Levy - Shape of you There's also an ongoing diss tracks between Stefflon Don, & Jada kingdom
So glad you stumbled on UK Garage. To understand uk hip it's important you listen to ukg and the roots in the rave. It's why most of our mc's can spit on any beat. You should check out her album A Little Deeper you may be surprised. And for Garage a good track to start with would be Little man wookie feat Sia.
One of the UK's finest garage tunes from back in the day. She raps/MCs in patois showing her Carribbean roots. Wicked tune. You should have seen her at Notting hill carnival in London back in the day! Booooooo!
I think this come out early 2000's this tune was massive in the UK when it first dropped! Everyone used to go crazy to this when it dropped in the club.
Got this on vinyl it goes OFF in the club still now, plus got loads of other social circles sticky beats he was a bad boy producer RIP Jason Kaye i know this word for word lol
I was working in a club and this kid walked in, it was her, before she blew up, she was absolutely brilliant live. Rock the crowd like a tornado. One of the best nights a worked security
if you listen back to the first track on FITB part 2 he mentions her a fair bit ....the most poignant verse , When i came out in 04 sister had just won ever award . most men would of done the bait thing put Big Sis on the chorus chords. That would of been Alist more Quickly i would of been famous more .....but look how i came in this ting raw.....
They do indeed have a collab song. It's from around 13 years ago, ealry in Akala's career. Song is slept on too as it's Akala doing what he does best and Ms Dynamite bringing the soul. Song is called Why Do. You should absolutely check it out, even though it doesn't have a music video. Ms Dynamite was popping late 90s early 2000s. She got blackballed for not towing the industry line and speaking her mind instead. She went underground to collab with many garage producers/DJs which resulted in my opinion, some her best songs. Oh almost forgot they have another collab from Ms Dynamite's album A Little Deeper. It was a hidden track called Get Up, Stand Up. Akala actually addresses why he doesn't have more collabs with his sister during his second FITB. Essentially, he didn't want her success giving him any kind of advantage so built his own career independently. Came to edit the comment to add they have a massive mixtape featuring so many grime MCs. It's called A Little Darker, and has a runtime of around an hour and half. I want to say it's from 2006, but can't remember for certain. Enjoy!
Also she built her buzz on tracks like this, then went over to the states and got smoothed out and RnB-ed and didn't love the direction, so struggled with that.
A lesser known tune of hers is Menta ft ms dynamite - “ramp” it came towards the end of garage when it was getting darker and grime started emerging it’s a banger too 👍🏻
A little Darker / Akala + Ms Dynamite . They did a whole album together 3 collabs on it and the 19 or 20 tracks are one or the other of them. You should also check out Ms Dynamite , Lady Leshurr , Lioness and Amplify Dot remix Neva Soft from SoulCulture its a classic video where the young girls show their love for Ms Dynamite .
Someone show these dudes Forward Riddem (Pow), 21 Seconds, all the original Grime shit from pay as you go, grime from Eskimo, Creeper times etc , Wiley Dirty Goodz beef, original Nasty Crew (so they get where Kano, Ghetts & D Double came from) and early Roll Deep stuff. Give them the real history session
Blows my mind how much of our talent got slept on in the US. I just assumed top talent got air play over there... clearly not. I think we tend to have an inflated view of our output here in the UK, watching you guys discover all these artists is so humbling.
Miss Dynamite was an artist who was highest profile in the Garage era, before Grime had blown up. We've barely gotten into garage with you guys so thats a whole new genre and collection of artists again, most popular mid 90s to early 00s If you want to go down thay road then we're talking artists like MJ Cole, Wookie, Artful Dodger, 187 Lockdown, Zed Bias, DJ Luck and MC Neat and many more besides. The genre was an urban EDM club sound, alternative to and parallel with House music. Where youd go to Ibiza to house clubs, youd go to Faliraki to mash up to UKG
Sticky ft lady stush dollar sign Sticky ft donaeo - bounce Sticky ft tubby T - tales from the hood (RIP tubby) Sticky ft Lorraine Cato - did it Sticky ft joy - begging to stay That’s just scratching the surface of Sticky tunes 😊
This song brings back so many memories, takes me back to my school days plus it’s crazy because we would say Akala is Ms Dynamites brother cos she blew up before we even knew she had a brother who MC’d too
Their dad used to run a club or Soundsystem in London, where they used to book a lot of drum n, bass and jungle artists DJ MC, so they both grew up listening to jungle and hip-hop and reggae so that’s where they get their roots from. That’s why they can both MC to so many different kind of beats.
This can NEVER get old, if you're not dancing or bobbing your head hard, then your ears block or you dead. Check out, Seed Will Grow feat Kymani Marley.
Akala made a mixtape featuring ms dynamite, called A Little Darker. Came out in the same year as his first album in 2006. It's got loads of other artists on it as well. You should definitely check it out, it's early Akala, pre dreads.
In one of Akala's FITB, he makes reference to his sister as she released songs before him. He mentioned about he could have jumped on following her, but he wanted to make his own name. Think it was on his first FITB
U seriously need to get on the UK garage vibe from 1995-2003. You are all missing out! This is a classic tune of that genre! It ran UK that much it got into the charts.
Made up U like this lads, shout from the UK 🇬🇧. This was doing the rounds on MTV Base in '99 or 2000 and I've been in love with the song since. Where people are saying Ds dy-na-mi-te is he best song don't listen to them. This is her best, don't waste your time with it. Keep up the good work, love the videos.
This is a classic UKG ting from eaaarly, way before anyone knew anything about Akala. Still an absolute banger Edit: this version has a few bits cut out too, so make sure you get the full version when you relisten
Miss Dynamite and Akala did a song together on Miss Dynamit's first Album it was a hidden track at the end of the the Album, the track is called "Get Up" Love them both!
