Yeah, the more I travel and the more of the world I see the more optimistic I become about the future. Years ago, when all I knew was life in a city in the US I was depressed and convinced that the world was a mess and getting worse by the day. It is indeed a big beautiful world out there.

@@FallofftheMap This is IT - travelling ❤️ Our world is indeed wonderful and, so are all the living species here. There is ONÉ person from my former little place I agree with (maybe one day - in 1000 years - others will come). His name was Hans Christian Andersen and he once said "to travel is to live" and I couldn't agree more.... South America next stop... 🌹🌹🌹

Wow, you keep filling your cup to overflowing 😂 But, I’m excited for you. Having lived in Houston so many years, I have no interest in experiencing hot and humid nonstop in the oriente. But this place sure is interesting; almost magical. Hopefully, you won’t encounter any of nonsense that those two innocent African American brothers encountered. That was hideous 😢

Yeah, they really got jammed up. I’ve heard some scary things about some of the communities in the oriente. Each community is different, most are good people, but occasionally things go off the rails in one community or another.

Good Evening from Coca at the moment! I just wanted to thank you for your advice 8 months ago on your "buying a farm..." video. The wife and I have been pursuing a property in the oriente for about 7 months now. We finally found time to fly out and meet the owners and nearby local comunas so we know that we are welcome/have permission. It has been challenging finding a lawyer from quito willing to help out here, but we managed. If all goes well with the closing procedures we will be enjoying Ecuador full time next year!

_Hello from Peru. That high altitude jungle is called here "selva alta" what means mountainous jungle vs the flat hotter jungle called "selva baja" . As a side note, here in Peru we have 2 of the best padlock factories in Latin America : Forte and Travex. Both making highest quality padlock ( compared to chinese cheap padlock ) and others stuff as door-lock, electric-door-lock, etc. Very cheap here, indeed. I suggest using padlock N° 60 or N° 70 because the lower numbers are not good for satetyness and can be broken by hitting with a big sledge-hammer. If you let me, another suggestion is sharping your machete with an esmeril with thin-disc ( angle grinder )_
@FallofftheMap
@FallofftheMap 3 месяца назад
Thanks. Yeah, I use a grinder to sharpen the machete. I’m not really worried about the lock for now because this little cabin is empty. There’s nothing to take.

@@FallofftheMap For Peru, I prefer coastal land vs jungle land. And highland land vs jungle land. But I can understand that coastal land in Ecuador is nowadays quite dangerous, specially in the Esmeraldas Region. Here coastal semi-desertic land is still available, but the main problem is if we really want it cheap, have to buy with no registration in ""Registros Publicos"" what is the public organization for registred properties. What about drilling water-well in Ecuador. Is it common practice in the coastal areas ?
@FallofftheMap
@FallofftheMap 3 месяца назад
@@davidveraok yeah, I’m not a big fan of living on the coast in Ecuador. I’ve tried it a couple times. It’s too hot and the culture on the coast is difficult for me to adapt to. Years ago when I lived on the north coast near the Colombia border I had a well, but the well eater had too much salt in it. When I lived in Canoa on the central coast we got water delivered by truck. I really don’t know how common it is to have a well here. One of my neighbors in the mountains has one but it cost him $50,000 to drill it. I think the climate on the coast in most of Peru is better than in Ecuador.
@davidveraok
@davidveraok 3 месяца назад
The good thing in our coast is that we can get water by pumping up from a waterwell. Those waterwell are always with water because of they are replenished from the Andes during rainy season. Mild weather and few bugs, too. Ideal place for Agriculture. Also, abundance of very cheap fish and seafood too. Even though all those benefits, most people think about lushy green coastal areas with palm trees and white sand as in the Caribe. I love the contrast between semi-desertic and desertic area with the ocean as in Sechura or Paracas or Malabrigo. This ocean is so energetic because of hyper abundance of marine life. As a side note, you might like to know more about IIAP - Instituto de Investigación de La Amazonía Peruana. They have been working hard the last 2 decades , investigation in Amazon Region, Have made a lot of advance in piscicultura. Paco, Gamitana and the king of the rivers Paiche.

Super video! Very interesting and informative. Would love to visit that spot one day. Did you ever find why the guanábana was in the banana tree? Thank you for your posts. I find your life to be very interesting and I appreciate your insight on what is going on there as well as what your doing with the farming 👍
@FallofftheMap

Yeah, banana grows much faster than guanabana. I think the guanabana tree was there first but banana took over around it. Eventually there was a guanabana tree hiding in the center of a cluster of bananas

@@LuciaMinca the “talent” to document your life on RU-vid is something that comes with practice for most of us. The great thing about it is that you are your own editor, so anything you record that you don’t feel comfortable with you can edit out and/or record again. When you get comfortable with this reality you will find you become much more comfortable on camera because it means you have all the power to control how you tell your story. I encourage you to give it a try, and if it doesn’t take, give it another try. Anyway, I’m glad you found and like my videos. Good luck.

That banana composition circle is great idea,this is kind of my dream right now to get some rural land in Ecuador and forsake this western rat race,I know I can meet the economic requirements of Ecuador but not sure how they would perceive my felonies from over 24 years ago even though they are expunged,I'm sure they still show up on Federal background checks.I might have to check with an immigration lawyer when visiting soon,Spending 5 months in Colombia I realized nature and great weather just can't be appreciated enough,PR,Hawaii,Southern California check those boxes but unfortunately they seem more like hellscapes with too many issues to list.Where I live in NJ prices are obscene with 8 months crap weather and so many rules/regulations one wonders if one even has "freedom",try and sell hotdogs on a busy boardwalk and find out how fast those handcuffs come out ffs
@FallofftheMap
@FallofftheMap 3 месяца назад
Yeah, Ecuador is pretty libertarian in practice. There are lots of rules and regulations, but they aren’t enforced. You can build what you want, sell food and drinks, pretty much do whatever you want, and if you’re not hurting anybody nobody bothers you. It’s both a good and a bad thing… it’s great if you’re in a small town or out in the campo, but it means that the big cities are extremely chaotic.

Will definitely go there, thanks for sharing. Also looking for some land east of the Andes. We will be relocating to EC in September, do you need any seeds from EU?
@FallofftheMap
@FallofftheMap 3 месяца назад
I always need seeds, both for the land in the Amazon and for my mountain property. The difficulty with seeds from the EU and US is that they are often varieties that need seasons, specifically a difference in the number of daylight hours to trigger the plant to produce fruit or complete other processes. But yeah, i would love seeds and would love to trade some of my plants and seeds.

@@CryptoDreams2030 that’s awesome. Choose carefully when picking your country. Ecuador was awesome when I first moved here 11 years ago, but things change over time. I still love it here, but if I were in the process of deciding where to move I might choose somewhere else right now. It’s hard to know for sure, because the cost of living and ease of getting a residency visa here are still great, and there are still safe areas, but I’m less positive about the country now than I was a few years ago. The insecurity and economic situation make the possibility of a hostile government coming to power uncomfortably high. Definitely watch the next elections closely. If Naboa wins Ecuador should continue to stabilize and recover. If he loses things could get really bad.
