Agreed. He probably didn't even know. Choppy water and hitting someone could feel and sound the same. I'm sure it was accidental. Sad that it happened though.
@@Look_What_You_Did I wonder why they don't release the name and show the house of the other Captain? one word " Litigation " they are setting him up for the kill. He got money and they got the TV in their hands....
This is the fault of the boat towing the skier, as an avid water skier myself, the idea of towing two people and one falling then continuing on leaving the fallen skier alone in the water is unthinkable. A " Skier In The Water" Flag should have gone up immediately and the boat should have returned to pick her up. To blame the boat that struck her solely, is crazy. There is heavy boat traffic in that area and the tow-boat should have taken steps to protect their skiers.
One, we haven't been notified as to how experienced the yacht captain was and how familiar he/she was how dangerous the area is. Two, I haven't read/heard anything on whether a "Skier in the Water" was or was not deployed. The yacht seems to have been privately owned instead of a charter and wasn't designed with waterskiing in mind so its debatable as to what equipment (such as flags) it had onboard. As far as I can tell the yacht was simply chosen because of how large a group was going to be onboard. Three, it appears that the yacht DID immediately turn around (well as fast as a yacht its size could turn around) to pick up the girls and was in the process of picking up the other girl when Ella was hit.
Yep, as a boat owner and my responsibility is on my skiers If you go down , put a ski in the air and it’s my job to protest them and pick them up! Who was the spotter….that’s their job too! I’m blaming who ever took these kids out. Safety first! But I’m not surprised as with so many irresponsible idiots out on the water.
I agree but at some point, the parents should have asked questions of the tow boat company about their place of operations, time of day, etc. I boated out in Biscayne Bay 40 years, some traffic, but I can't imagine what is like now. Sometimes you have to be responsible for your own actions. Even as a ten-year-old I wouldn't think about playing on the highway .......... But it is sad.
I did a lot of water skiing in my teens and 20s and was always concerned about being run over by other boaters if I fell. As soon as I fell I would take off a ski and hold it up out of the water like a pillar. On several occasions, I had to wave it to make sure nearby boaters would see me.
This whole event is tragic but the captain on the boat pulling the kids is to blame. You don’t pull people with a boat near a busy channel let alone dual and with the wrong type of boat, shocking the captain didn’t simply go to a less traveled and more safe to ski place on the bay. This old man with four outboards in a 44’ boat hauling azzz wouldn’t know he hit someone. With two kids down in the water it’s possible he only saw on and was focused on that one and had zero idea he hit the second one. Again they shouldn’t have been there in the water in the first place.
The towing boat had two teens in the water in a super busy stretch of the bay with a dozen other kids on the boat. You can true in fact ski anywhere but you cannot safely ski anywhere, and when you do ski in busy parts people die like this young lady.
I was born and raised in Florida on boats and I’m a licensed captain, I think I’m more than qualified. Multiple boats and people in the water all while speeding along 40-70mph.
@@Nuttyirishman85 Stop discriminating against the "old man", anybody is capable at any age specially when you have a big yacht like his. It is your responsibility to follow common sense regardless weather allowed or not. Is the same as being allow to carry a gun but not having it secure and use proper training. Most of it comes down to entitlement.
This is close to the equivalent of pulling a skateboarder down the interstate. I feel so sorry for this little girl that lost her life. That big boat should have never been used to tow skiers in such a busy and dangerous place. That's extremely negligence.
@@Failure_Is_An_Option its definitely been stated many times the ski-towing boat was a 42ft boat.. and if you know anything about boats, 42ft is waaaaaay too big of a boat to be water skiing
I'm glad that the full story and the truthful facts were finally told. That girl should have never even been being towed with that type boat and especially not in that dangerous place. The towwer was extremely negligent.
Surely the boat driver didnt see her or know he hit her. Everyone wants to blame the driver, hes just as traumatized Im sure. How could the boat know she was there? I feel bad for both. People trashing the boat driver have to stop harassing him and let the investigation happen. Tragic accidents happen and impact all involved.
Why releasing the elderly man’s name? He probably never saw her in the choppy water, and is now devastated for being told that he killed somebody. Boating channels are for water sports; they are meant for boat traffic!!
They don't know for a fact if it was even his boat involved. Once the media found out he likely had some money it became a classic bash and money grab scheme.
These are minor teenagers, was there a chaperone, and were the victim’s parents informed that there will be water sports like this water skiing she’ll engage in. Sorry but as a parent I’d make sure what type of activities my teen will be going to and be alarmed how dangerous this water skiing activity is even for experts
The man who owns the home where investigators found a boat that they suspect struck and killed a 15-year-old Ransom Everglades student was behind the wheel at the time of the crash, according to a report released Wednesday by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Carlos Guillermo Alonso, 78, owns the Coral Gables home where the boat was docked behind when FWC agents seized the boat Tuesday afternoon. He was the only occupant in the boat at the time of the hit-and-run crash, the report said. (Miami Herald) The report, released Wednesday, identified the operator as Carlos Guillermo Alonso, 78, of Coral Gables. The report states that Adler had been wakeboarding with someone else who was further away and both “fell off at different times/locations and both were in the water simultaneously.” Officials said they continue to investigate and have not announced whether Alonso will be charged; it’s not clear whether authorities have determined if he was even aware of the fatal crash.(Channel 10 News)
Heavy traffic area not a place where a experienced boater would take someone water skiing not throwing blame just stating fact .there are far too many inexperienced boaters on the water driving vessels beyond there capabilities, there should really be a mandatory licensing procedure for operating a boat .my condolences to the families involved ❤
The thought of pulling two skiers thru a heavily trafficked inlet/outlet choke point popular for mega horsepower monster speed boats behind a similar large less maneuverable speed boat is incomprehensible
@@Look_What_You_Did I corrected the I to the, and I don't like punctuating the end of my you tube comments. You can stereotype groups, but not individuals. While there are millions of women who would understand what I was saying, you obviously fit the mold. Wrong type of boat for other boaters to know it’s towing recreationally. Stupid place to do it (just go play in the busy street) No flags to alert other boaters to someone is in the water. The captain of the tow boat should at least be charged with negligence resulting in death.
Thinking is obligatory everywhere in water also ….. if someone puts on the risk somebody leaves like a captain who towed this girl the responsibility rests with him !!!! …..
Sounds like captain took these people to area that's dangerous and also used a boat that's not for water skiing and choose a area that consided dangerous to watwr sking vut those who were young had bo idea sounds like the captain put those kuds lives in danger too
Pray all you want, but follow the directions:Matthew 6:5 - "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others." Posting on line IS from the street corner - or are you just virtue signalling?🤮
As a boater, I’m shocked always as no one teaches people water safety . If you are waterskiing or wake boarding….raise it in the air .. basic safety rule! With reflections of the sun and choppy water it is hard to see people in the water. I blame the boat owners taking these kids out , safety first. Who was the spotter??? Your skier is down it’s your job to protect them! That is their responsibility!
Victim blaming a 15 year old girl being pulled by a rope? How exactly was she supposed to be in control of the situation? She was at the mercy of the tow boat you dipsh!7. Are you people that dense? May God have mercy on your calloused soul.
@hellomiamii no, I said the person driving the boat with the teenagers has some responsibility in this. Was it an adult and parent driving that boat? Are far as her parents; how often do parents not know exactly what is transpiring where their teenagers are at? We have to also think about whether the boat driver that hit her? Did he know? Was he drinking? Was he going too fast in that area of water? We do not have the proper certifications/license requirements here. We desperately need them. As a boating capital? There should be required licenses, courses, fees, classes, etc. And definitely more L.E. on the water to monitor this. Common sense and knowledge is unfortunately limited today.
Can a 78 year old even see 50 feet in front of boat?!? Sheesh! Really sick and tragic loss of lovely young girl. People are correct tho, the skiing boat Captain is more culpable and negligent for the loss of life.
The boat towing the two teens has the sole responsibility of their safety. Needed a flag person that is right next to the captain to alert them. Second the two teens have to have a plan for when one falls, such as the second person drops off as quick as possible to the first so the boat can quickly spin around and get back around the first that fell to black them from any other traffic. Also the captain towing the people needs to be aware of where traffic is around them and the direction of travel of that traffic and to keep their wakeboarders in a safe lane in case of a fall. As far as the people that fall in a busy place like that girl did, quickly look around for other boats and if any seem to be closing on you, get that board off your feet and into the air as high as possible and wave it back and forth. The ocean in windy choppy conditions with sun glare can make it nearly impossible to see anyone bobbing in the swell.
She was water skiing a mile offshore in Biscayne Bay... saying it's a high traffic area is BS. No more dangerous than any other spot in Biscayne Bay. The old man probably would have seen and not hit her if he wasn't speeding .. She was wearing her ski vest and holding up her wakeboard to be visible to let boaters know she down & in the water...
1:58 as a minnesotan and been aqua sporting of all kinds since i was old enough to hold a fishing pole and wear a life jacket and been tubing behind a 1970 200HP tri hull glastron that holds 8 people easily......who ever is being consulted on the phone doesn't have a clue. wake boarding and knee boarding are not water skiing. water skiis are 1/8th the size of a wake board and knee board where speed is the key to staying on top of the water. twin engines or 200hp minimum single engine for slalom water skiing for persons over 180#'s 15 year old girl at about 105# at most? 125HP would easily work for single skii waterskiing....WHICH SHE WAS NOT DOING!@#&^* WAKE BOARDING IS JUST THAT RIDING THE BOATS WAKE, YOU KNOW THE WAVES THE BOAT MAKES AS IT PASSES THRU THE WATER, THAT IS THE FUNNEST PART CROSSING AND RIDING ON TOP AND GOING OVER OR JUMPING THE WAVE WAKE! the bigger the wave the greater the adrenaline fun! just like a roller coaster people, the higher, the more and greater curves and twists and spins/corkscrew... the better it is! ;)
Towing w a race boat not good, but still the other boat is at fault no Matter what, like a car. Situational awareness is not coming from a 79 year old. Now he’s going to pay even if he’s a fall guy
@@Failure_Is_An_Option I have to agree with you on that being that she was down in the water. When I first heard the news I wrongly assumed that a standing skier was struck and someone wasn't paying attention to where they were heading. After hearing more of the facts it's very possible that this is just a tragic accident. I also understand more about why the towwer of Ella wasn't using his boat to protect them in the water. That size boat isn't easy to maneuver around quickly enough and shouldn't have been pulling anyone in that busy of an area and especially in choppy water with children. Her only hope would have been to dove down in the water deep enough to maximize any serious damage to her and her life jacket hindered her from being able to do that. This is tragic and I can't help for feeling what she must have been going through in her last moments.
Stop going to his home…the entire incident is horrible…clearly, he has a lawyer. Stop the theatrics…pretending you will get a confession Focus on healing…believe it or not, hope sells.
@@branchtobranch5607 The standard is you clowns actually wait for facts instead of lie about something you know nothing about. The alleged individual doesn't even drink. What else you got loser?
Lets say that was the vessel and the operator. What do you think striking some little fleshy bit out on choppy water with a vessel that size would feel like?
Very tragic & predictable. There needs to be ANNUAL certifications for power boats, with age/ability restrictions. Towing vessel "captain" should be charged w/negligence, endangerment etc... Old dude shouldn't have been piloting other vessel.
Like when the errors of all involved result in a catastropic tragedy. One YT channel likens it to layers of swiss cheese when all the holes line up then disaster ensues.
